Ah the wonderful world of Hollywood. Originally just a torn out field, home to the Mexican Nopal cactus and a whole load of nothing, Hollywood stood in silence for a number of years. Now, home to the movie industry and the hub of all things rich and famous, Tinseltown has been the center of the universe for over 100 years. That’s right, rocking the glitz and the glamour, especially with regards to the superstars that live there, Los Angeles will forever be known as the place where they make ‘the movies’. Iconic to say the least, Hollywood is famed for a number of legendary and archetypal attractions. From the Hollywood walk of fame, to the sign that shines its own name, this quaint little borough is actually one of the most recognizable places in the world, as well as being the home to one of the most fancy and outrageous awards shows in the world, the Oscars. However, with success often comes scandal, with Hollywood no stranger to a secret or ten. The sin city of the west, Los Angeles has often been brimming to the rim with dispute and despair, with scandals of the past that would almost blow your socks off if heard today. Plus, with social media now able to inform its audience of a person’s every mood, it can be a very difficult task to try and hide, especially with the added use of the media and the paparazzi. Yes, since its very creation, Los Angeles has been a melting pot for the disreputable, with Hollywood headlines hitting us hard each year.
So to celebrate its dishonorable reputation, here are 15 of the most notorious Hollywood “bedroom” scandals.
15. Arnold Schwarzenegger
Hollywood hunk of metal turned politician Arnold Schwarzenegger shocked the world when it was revealed he had been cheating on wife Maria Shriver throughout their 25 year relationship. That’s right, the one time Mr. Universe had been embroiled in a love affair with his housekeeper (cliché much?), Mildred Patricia Baena, even fathering a son with her. Ever the gentleman, it was also later unveiled that Shriver was also pregnant at the same time, with the two ladies both carrying Schwarzenegger’s children. Ditching his sorry ass, Shriver immediately moved out, leading Schwarzenegger to suddenly divulge a number of other affairs that had taken place, with Sylvester Stallone’s ex-wife and Danish gazelle Brigitte Nielsen being one of them. Speaking of the affair with the Terminator muscle man, Nielsen claimed, “maybe I wouldn’t have got into it if he said ‘I’m going to marry Maria’ and this is dead serious, but he didn’t, and our affair carried on.” What a guy.
14. Rob Lowe
Famed for his bashful blue yes and charming good looks, Rob Lowe is one of the most popular guys in Hollywood. However, involved in a scandal in 1988 that very nearly destroyed his career, Lowe is still mocked for his involvement in such a high profile case. Videotaped doing the nasty with a 16-year-old girl that he had met in a nightclub, Lowe was also filmed embroiled with another woman along with pal Justin Moritt. Released as one of the first ‘celebrity sex tapes’, years before Paris Hilton took the bait, Lowe’s image was severely destroyed. Somehow managing to salvage his career, Lowe bounced back, even making fun of himself on a number of TV shows and appearances. Referring to the fact that he ‘kickstarted the trend of celebrity sex tapes’, Lowe recently joked, “let me just say this— sometimes being a trailblazer is highly overrated”.

Now, famed for a scandal that shocked rather than publicized, Ince’s talents are often forgotten among the strange and disturbing circumstances in which he died. Becoming severely ill aboard the private yacht of media tycoon and Hollywood player William Randolph Hearst, Ince later died of heart failure. However, subject to much speculation, Ince’s death at only 44 years old has been the pinpoint of a number of rumors, one of which involves a fatal shot to the chest. That’s right, joined by a number of stars also aboard the boat, including the likes of Charlie Chaplin and Hearst’s mistress Marion Davies, it was rumored that Chaplin had also been sleeping with Davies on the side. Catching the pair in the act, Hearst went below deck to retrieve a revolver, which he then returned and shot Chaplin in a jealous rage. However, shooting Ince in a case of mistaken identity, the murder was then covered up, leading the powerful Hearst to get away with it scot-free.

Forced to undergo an AIDS education program, as well as being publicly embarrassed all over the world, Grant’s career took an immediate nosedive, not to mention embarrassing his then girlfriend, actress Liz Hurley. That’s right, with Hurley also caught up in the tabloid hullabaloo, Grant released a statement claiming, “I’ve done an abominable thing, and she’s been amazing about it, and contrary to what I read in the paper today, she’s been very supportive, and we’re going to try to work it out.’’ Famed for handling the situation with grace, Grant often pokes fun at himself with regards to the scandal, labelled as being honest yet strangely amusing about the whole illicit affair.

An alcoholic, Tracy was also depressed, with the pair heavily dependent on one another. With his health rapidly declining in the 1960s, Hepburn took a five-year break from acting, choosing to care for him. Quickly becoming a media sensation, the tape spread, with it also strangely winning several awards. Claiming to have never received any royalties with regards to the home movie, Hilton stated, “I never received a dime from the video. It’s just dirty money and Salomon should give it all to some charity for the sexually abused or something. To be honest, I don’t even think about it anymore.”

Highly paid, and loved worldwide, there was seemingly no stopping the famed comedian. However, with things taking a turn for the worst in a San Francisco hotel room in 1921, Arbuckle’s world came crashing down around him when actress Virginia Rappe was found dead at a party he was attending. However, with things taking a slightly creepy turn, Farrow found a naked photo of her 21-year-old adopted daughter Soon-Yi Previn among Allen’s possessions, with Allen confirming that the two were having an affair. Immediately breaking up, Farrow has never forgiven the pair, resulting in a long and bitter rivalry between the three. Later commenting on the scandal, Farrow stated, “you just can’t go on mourning forever, and so I’ve moved on. It’s been a long time now. And I really don’t think of her as my daughter anymore.
