The entertainment industry carries with it the fame and the fortune that is sought after by people from all over the world. Though there are many facets of entertainment that can be lucrative for a performer, acting could very well be at the top of that list. Both film and television actors that reach the heights of success that are reserved for only a few will find more fame and fortune than they realize. For the most part, performers who are able to find their way through the entertainment industry typically find their success in either television or film. However, there are some who are able to move between the two mediums, and find positive results with both.
For Kat Dennings, success has come in both television and film, making her career incredibly impressive for being just 30. The actress made her film debut in 2004 in the movie Raise Your Voice, and had landed a role in at least one movie every year thereafter until 2016. Prior to her appearance in Raise Your Voice, Kat Dennings had already appeared on a number of popular television shows including Sex and the City and Without a Trace.
Currently acting in the hit show 2 Broke Girls, Kat Dennings has continued to etch her place among the most talented people in the entertainment industry, and her popularity could very well be at an all-time high. The talented actress, while already sporting an impressive list of accomplishments, appears destined for success in her future roles.
15. Bust Magazine (January 2012)
Prior to becoming the recognizable figure that she is today, Kat Dennings was featured in a number of films and television shows that helped her compile an impressive resume. In 2011, Dennings appeared in one of her most popular roles when she portrayed the character Darcy Lewis in the blockbuster film Thor. The actress had already found success, and her entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe further solidified her as a force to be reckoned with.
2011 would also be the same year that Kat Dennings would star in hit television show 2 Broke Girls, which is still running after almost 6 years. As it stands, 2 Broke Girls has aired over 120 episodes, which is quite the feat. For only being 30, Kat Dennings has accomplished more than most of her contemporaries, and I certainly hope that she returns to starring in films after her successful run in television acting.
14. 2 Broke Girls 100 Episode Celebration (October 2015)
After making its television debut in September of 2011, 2 Broke Girls quickly became a popular show with audiences everywhere. The relatable story of two young adults working ordinary jobs figuring out their path in life is something that the bulk of people have lived through. Combine that with well-timed humor and exceptional performances and you have yourself a television show that is poised for great success.
To celebrate their 100th episode, the cast and crew held a celebration in Los Angeles, and Kat Dennings looked as beautiful as ever. The celebration was deserved, as the 100 episode mark is nothing short of incredible. Thus far, the show has had an impressive run on television, and is currently airing its 6th season. Currently, the show has not been renewed for a 7th season, but that’s not to say that it won’t. The show has had an incredible run, and, unless there is a definitive conclusion, 2 Broke Girls will almost certainly continue.
13. Zooey Magazine (Winter 2014)
2014 was quite an interesting year for the talented Kat Dennings. On one hand, her show 2 Broke Girls was continuing its impressive run on television, further cementing its place in television history. On the other hand, Dennings also starred in the low-budget Suburban Gothic which was well-received, but mainly went unnoticed by mainstream audiences. Kat Dennings also appeared in an episode of the show The Newsroom that same year. Television acting keeps actors quite busy, especially considering that most shows have a large number of episodes each season, so it’s great to see performers branch out and take on other projects.
While her acting resume continued to expand in 2014, the actress also decided to diversify her portfolio outside of the realm of acting. In January of that year, Kat Dennings hosted the People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles. The actress did an exceptional job that evening, and it will be interesting to see if Kat Dennings eventually garners hosting duties for another awards ceremony.
12. Backstage At The Geffen (March 2014)
Back in 2004, Kat Dennings appeared in her very first film role. Dennings played the role of Sloane in the movie Raise Your Voice, which I will fully admit that I saw in theaters. What can I say; I had a crush on the lead actress. Then again, I’m pretty sure that most teenage boys did at the time. The following year would see the young actress appear in three separate film roles, one of which became a massive box office success, and certainly had a hand in helping her career.
The 40-Year-Old Virgin came out in August of 2005 and the raunchy film had audiences everywhere laughing hysterically. It received solid reviews, and its box office numbers reflect that. The film far surpassed its relatively small budget, and went on to make 177 million dollars that year. Since then, Dennings has appeared in a number of high-profile movies, but has found her biggest success in television.
11. Glamour Magazine (December 2013)
For all of us comic book lovers out there, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a breath of fresh air for the last 9 years. Many comic book adaptations in the early 2000s were absolutely terrible, and Hollywood studios couldn’t seem to get things right. That all changed in 2008 when Iron Man found an incredible amount of critical acclaim and success, seemingly saving the genre. In the first wave of those films, Thor was hugely successful, and Kat Dennings was excellent in her role.
Jump to 2013, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe was plowing ahead and making insane amounts of money. That year, Dennings would reprise her role as Darcy Lewis in Thor: The Dark World. The movie was a colossal success, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe added a brand new ripple into its overall story. As it stands now, I don’t believe that Dennings will be in the franchise’s third instalment, which is slated to be released later this year.
10. Byrdie (June 2015)
Typically, newer actors often find small roles in television or movies to begin their career in the entertainment industry. These roles sometimes lack names, dialogue, and can sometimes be found in movies that the mainstream has hardly heard about. For her debut back in 2000, Kat Dennings was able to jump aboard an episode of an incredibly successful show for debut. That year, Dennings would be appearing in the show Sex and the City for her first television appearance.
The following year, Kat Dennings would find more success in television, as she would go on to appear in all 22 episodes of the show Raising Dad. Raising Dad failed to achieve the amount of success that more popular shows do, and was off the air in less than a year. Despite the fact the show wasn’t around too long, Dennings was able to find bigger and better roles as the years went on.
9. Thor: The Dark World Premiere (November 2013)
In 2011, the Marvel Cinematic Universe was one year away from the release of The Avengers, and their two films released that year did a fantastic job in continuing the overall universe that had started back in 2008. With Captain America: The First Avenger, Marvel finally introduced one of their most popular characters, and planted the seeds for what’s to come. That same year, Marvel expanded on the Thor series, and fans couldn’t have been happier.
With the release of both films, audiences were introduced two of the six Infinity Stones, which left fans begging for more. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has upheld a standard of excellence in their films, and the two released in 2011 were no exception. Thor: The Dark World would go on to make 644 million dollars at the box office, and later this year, Marvel fans will be rushing to theaters to go and see Thor: Ragnarok, which is set to arrive in November.
8. The House Bunny Premiere (August 2008)
A few years before she became a recognizable figure in the entertainment industry, Kat Dennings landed a role in a movie that had audiences laughing, at that was a minor financial success at the box office. In 2008, Kat Dennings would be featured in the movie The House Bunny alongside some of the funniest women in the business. Though the movie didn’t receive a ton of critical praise, it performed well, making 70 million dollars during its theatrical run.
Following the success of The House Bunny, Dennings would land roles in three separate films in 2009, and she would also be nominated for a few awards for her work in the movie Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist which was released in 2008. The actress was nominated for a Teen Choice Award and an MTV Movie Award for her performance as Norah Silverberg. Unfortunately, Dennings was unable to secure either award, but the nominations were already pretty impressive.
7. Zooey Magazine (Winter 2014)
2014 was a pretty busy year for Kat Dennings. Aside from her work on her show 2 Broke Girls, Dennings also appeared in the television show The Newsroom, hosted the People’s Choice Awards, and starred in the film Suburban Gothic. The following year in 2015, Kat Dennings would slow down her pace a bit, and she would have far less to do than she did in 2014.
In 2015, Kat Dennings appeared in an episode of the hit television show RuPaul’s Drag Race as a guest judge for one episode. That show has been monumental in its success and popularity, and RuPaul is perhaps more famous now than ever before. RuPaul‘s Drag Race has featured an impressive list of guest judges in the past, and Kat Dennings is a name that really stands out on that list. The most recent season of the show aired this year, and it has been renewed for another season.
6. GQ Magazine (November 2011)
Following the monster year that was 2011, Kat Dennings continued her show 2 Broke Girls, and would also go on to be featured in a couple of other projects that same year. During September of 2012, the second season of 2 Broke Girls began airing on television, and the new season would continue on with the successful foundation that was laid by the first season.
In March of that same year, Kat Dennings would star in the low-budget film To Write Love on Her Arms, which was produced by Two Streets Entertainment. Unfortunately, the film failed to make a splash, and would finally be released on DVD nearly 3 years after its initial run at film festivals. For television work, Dennings would provide voices for various characters for the show Robot Chicken. Her work for the show was for only one episode, and Dennings hasn’t worked with the show since.
5. Thor Premiere (April 2011)
The first phase of movies that were released for the Marvel Cinematic Universe took the world by storm, and their success has kept the franchise rolling for nearly 10 years. After debuting on an incredibly high note with Iron Man, the franchise released The Incredible Hulk which didn’t fare nearly as well as its predecessor. A sequel to Iron Man got the Marvel Cinematic Universe back on track just in time for the release of Thor.
Thor hit theaters in May of 2011, and when it did, the hulking movie would haul in a hefty 449 million dollars, much to the delight of studio executives. Kat Dennings played Darcy Lewis in the film, and her dry, sarcastic humor was phenomenal. In comparison to most other comic book movies, Marvel’s great use of humor has been one of the strongest tools in their arsenal while on their amazing streak, and there are plenty of funny moments in Thor.
4. GQ Magazine (November 2011)
Sometimes in life, you just need to sit back and smell the roses. Or, if you’re Kat Dennings, go ahead and take a huge bite out of the pedals because the taste of being in the Marvel Cinematic Universe just isn’t sweet enough. Now that the actress has cemented her place in the franchise along with a number of other talented performers, nerds everywhere will forever be daydreaming of the girl who had the balls to use a taser on Thor.
As her fame continues to grow, we are bound to see Kat Dennings make more appearances in major magazine around the world. 2011 was a huge year for the actress, and some of most impressive modelling work was on display that year. Since then, she has steadily been featured in magazines, and her work only continues to get better each time that she steps in front of a camera.
3. 2 Broke Girls
Kat Dennings show 2 Broke Girls began its run on television, and it has been a mainstay in households for nearly 6 years. During its run on television, 2 Broke Girls received a great deal of critical praise, and it has been nominated for an impressive number of awards. Of course, success like this a perfect storm of personnel, writing and directing.
Kat Dennings serves up her own unique style of acting, and her casting to portray Max Black on 2 Broke Girls is a huge reason for the show’s success. Her ability to deliver comedic dialogue and her sense of comedic timing perfectly suit her character. The shows other actors are just as impressive, and their efforts from one episode to another is great. Very few shows are able to find a successful go of things, but 2 Broke Girls simply has more to offer than most other programs.
2. Emmy Awards (September 2011)
Held back in September of 2011, the Emmy Awards were conducted in Los Angeles, and like most major Hollywood events, celebrities made their way to the Nokia Theatre to see the people who had achieved the highest honors for their work in television. Despite 2 Broke Girls having no nominations that year, Kat Dennings came to the celebrated show, and had the whole world watching her as she looked incredible. The actress, adorned in a red dress, looked fierce, and the dress itself was stunning.
Winning an Emmy Award is an incredible feat, and the vast number of different awards really gives you an idea of the massive amounts of hard work that go into each series. For 2 Broke Girls, the show has been nominated for 9 Emmy Awards during its run on television, and picked up the award for Outstanding Art Direction For A Multi-Camera Series back in 2012.
1. Complex Magazine (April 2011)
During the early parts of 2011, I don’t think that people could have predicted the huge success that Kat Dennings would enjoy that year. In 2010, the actress, who had already completed some impressive work, didn’t make too many appearances, or have many roles throughout the year. Dennings only starred in one movie, Daydream Nation, and the film was seen by very few people. For television work, the actress provided voice-over work for the show American Dad! for one episode.
Of course, 2011 kicked off major success for Dennings, as her show 2 Broke Girls would begin airing its first season, and she was also featured in the movie Thor. Her well-received comedy show and her turn in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are perhaps the biggest highlights in Dennings career, and the actress has enjoyed the sweet taste of success ever since. Kat Dennings as an active user of Twitter, so if you’re interested in learning more about one of Hollywood’s most beautiful stars, be sure to give her a follow.
