If you had to ask people who the two most despised and off-the-rocker celebrities are in Hollywood, both Mel Gibson and Charlie Sheen would be at the top of most people's lists. After all, these two men have done more to damage their own careers than anyone else could ever do to them.

Gibson has recently rebounded with the resounding success of the movie Hacksaw Ridge. Hollywood seems to have forgiven him, but does his comeback make him any less of a jerk? So, the question to ask is, if you had to choose between a struggling Charlie Sheen or a rebounding Mel Gibson, who is the bigger d-bag of the two? If we compared side by side the many insanely idiotic things the two have done, it's an interesting debate. On one hand, you have Mel Gibson who was recorded being racist and intoxicated. On the other hand, you have Charlie Sheen who lost a job due to his inability to control his personal demons and then went on a crazy rant for months at a time that made people wonder if he was truly losing his mind.

This list is a comparison of the different things each person has done to his own career. Seeing this list all in one place makes one realize just how screwed up these two individuals got. There'll be no judgment on our part; and at the end, you can decide who the bigger jerk is.

Mel Gibson - Insults Latino Community

As you'll realize quickly, some of the things that put Mel Gibson on the list is just how racist it looks like he might be. In this instance, the very famous actor is heard arguing and discussing a variety of topics with the mother of his child and refers to one of his staffers as a "wetback."

In his conversation with Oksana Grigorieva, he says, "I will report her to the f**king people that take f**king money from the wetbacks." At that time, it was in reference to potentially turning over a female employee to immigration officers. The actual term 'wetbacks' is a disparaging slang term for those of Latino heritage, especially Mexican illegal immigrants in the United States. It's a term used to reference the perception that a lot of immigrants came to other countries by swimming across.

Charlie Sheen - Got A Huge Hit TV Show Cancelled

While he was replaced by Ashton Kutcher, Charlie Sheen was the reason the hit show Two and a Half Men got canceled for the remainder of the season in 2011. Sheen went on a public rant about the show's creator, Chuck Lorre, in which he stated, "I've spent I think, close to the last decade I don't know effortlessly and magically converted your tin can into pure gold. And the gratitude I get is this charlatan chose not to do his job, which is to write."

CBS and Warner Bros. immediately issued a press release halting production on any of the remaining episodes of the show. Sheen responded with some crazy rant about how much damage he could do with his words and imagine the damage he could have done with his "fire-breathing fists." Two and a Half Men was Sheen's gravy ticket. He threw it all away in a matter of moments.

Mel Gibson - Admittedly Hit His Girlfriend

In another taped conversation, Gibson says "You f***ing deserved it" to girlfriend Oksana when answering a question about how any man can hit a woman who is holding a child in her arms.

This nugget comes from RadarOnline.com who revealed more content from initial taped call and this time, Mel admits to hitting Oksana twice in the face while she was holding their baby daughter, Lucia.

This came after his legal team has insisted Mel did not hit Oksana and that they had only a loud argument. It goes to show that not only did he do it, but he lied and his lawyers misled people in an attempt to make people think he didn't. It's one thing to do it (which is bad enough), but it's another to try and cover it up.

Charlie Sheen - Brutal To Denise Richards

Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen's divorce was messy. When Richards filed for divorce, she ended up having to get a restraining order against Sheen. She cited a number of reasons, but one of them was awful emails he would send her.

In once instance, he wrote, "You are a pig. A sad, jobless pig who is sad and talentless and, um, oh yeah, sad and jobless and evil and a bad mom, so go **** yourself, sad, jobless pig." He went on to make fun of Richards' mom who was actively seeking cancer treatments.

Ironically, I wonder if people send him similar emails now that he's having one heck of a time finding work in Hollywood. As the popular saying tends to go and perhaps Sheen now realizes, karma is a b***h!

Mel Gibson - Gibson Is Homophobic

So, it seems as though not only is Gibson a racist, but he's homophobic too. In 1991, when asked by a Spanish newspaper about his thoughts on gays, Gibson responded with, "They take it up the a**. [laughs, stands up, bends over, points to anus] This is only for taking a s***."

Yes, in 1991, it wasn't nearly as accepted to be out in public and admittedly gay, but the fact that Gibson would so blatantly make such a derogatory remark to a source he had to know would publish his comments was baffling. Either Gibson didn't care or he didn't think it through very well. Either way, it was an incredibly stupid decision to make. It's another reason Gibson is part of this list. He has a habit of making stupid decisions.

Charlie Sheen - Bitter And More Bitter

Charlie has been twice divorced. Not only did he treat Denise Richards pretty terribly, but Charlie's child custody battle with ex-wife, Brooke Mueller, was ugly. Perhaps one of the ugliest displays of Sheen's bitterness was when he used Twitter to wish Brooke a happy birthday. His exact words were "Happy Bday Brooke. when you're done su(*^ng off the parking lot at Home Depot why don't ya 'blow' out this candle."

Most people will tell you that the measure of a man isn't just in how you treat someone when you're with them, but how you treat someone after you've agreed to separate. Of course, breaking up with someone is hard, but if you can't be happy for other people, there is something inherently wrong with you.

Mel Gibson - Threatened To Kill The Mother Of His Child

Not once, but at least twice, did Gibson threaten to kill Oksana Grigorieva. The first time, it was over some stupid a hot tub debate. The second time, he went so far as to suggest that not only would he kill her by coming and burning down the house, but he'd first force her to commit s*xual acts just to rub it in.

Mel Gibson hit for the cycle against Oksana. Not only did he hit her and call her names, but he threatened to kill her too. Alcohol and drugs will do a lot of things to good people, but it doesn't seem like that's the issue here. Alcohol simply seemed to make a not good person even worse.

Charlie Sheen - Briefcase Full Of Cocaine

It's one thing to be known as a bad boy who parties too much. There are tons of A-list stars who have been there and have done that. Money and fame can make it hard to resist temptation. But, there is a huge difference between that and what Charlie Sheen did.

A night before being admitted to the hospital to treat a hernia issue, Sheen partied for three straight days and had a briefcase full of cocaine delivered to his home. It all came part and parcel with three different escorts connected to the delivery that night. Sheen was known to abuse drugs, but to have an entire briefcase worth of the stuff delivered to your party is downright nuts.

Only an actor making nearly $2 Million per episode on a hit TV show could afford something like that.

Mel Gibson - Threatens To Kill A Movie Critic

While much of the films Gibson has either produced, directed, or starred in have been quite good, perhaps Mel Gibson takes his work a little too seriously. Just ask New York Times reporter, Frank Rich, who criticized The Passion of the Christ to The New Yorker in 2003 and then got an earful from Gibson who wasn't too pleased about the review.

"I want to kill him…I want his intestines on a stick…I want to kill his dog," is exactly what Gibson said after he'd heard about Rich's comments.

If you're going to be a major Hollywood star, you quickly need to learn that the reviews are not always something you want to defend. No matter how hard you work or how good the product, someone will try to be negative about it. Gibson not only didn't hear that message, but he went way overboard.

Charlie Sheen - Gambled During His Daughter's Birth

In the papers Denise Richards filed through the courts during their divorce proceedings, she cited nasty emails, threatening statements, and physical abuse. The oddest portion of those 17-some pages was her documenting that on the car ride to the hospital for the birth of their daughter Lola, she caught Sheen phoning in gambling bets and checking his pager for live-time results.

Yes, during one of the most important times in a father's life, he was completely absent from the process and found it more important to get his gambling fixed than it was to be present during the birth of his child—not exactly the type of behavior that will earn you Dad of the Year awards. In fact, while not physically damaging, it's one of the most disturbing things Sheen probably did.

Mel Gibson - Completely Unapologetic

When asked by Playboy Magazine about the comments he'd made in 1991 regarding gays and homosexuality, the interviewer wondered if maybe Gibson felt the need to make amends or apologize for his remarks. "I'll apologize when hell freezes over. They can f&^$ off."

You see, organizations like GLAAD were not pleased when they'd heard about Gibson's stance. They wanted an apology and deservedly so. Instead, Gibson made it worse. Even if he doesn't believe what he says, you'd think that he'd at least consider the impact talking this way would have on his career. Nope. Gibson didn't seem to learn that lesson either. I guess it's true what they say—you really can't fix dumbness. Gibson has proven that he's too dumb to realize he's ignorant. Not a good combination.

Charlie Sheen - In Utter Denial

How does one seek help when he truly doesn't believe he has a problem? Well, that was Charlie Sheen in the midst of his breakdown. When it was clear as day to everyone who watched Sheen unravel, he actually said he didn't believe he had a drug or alcohol problem because he could cure himself with his mind.

The worst part is, while much of what Sheen said back in the day was looked at as a publicity stunt, he seemed dead-faced serious about this one. He was falling apart professionally and personally. And because he could just will his problems away with his mind, he didn't actually have a problem. It was one of the oddest cases of public denial ever. It explained a lot about why he had so many issues for so long.

Mel Gibson - Drunken Rants

When he was pulled over for a DUI in 2006, not only did Gibson not get in trouble peacefully, but he pulled the 'I'm famous' card and was belligerent and rude to the arresting officers. Calling one female officer sugar t*ts and warning others that he owned Malibu and would ruin them, he pretty much made a drunken fool of himself.

When talking to the male officer, he blamed the Jewish people for all the troubles of the world and asked if the officer was Jewish.

So yeah, he's got issues with homosexuals, Latino people, African-American people, and now, Jewish people. Is there anyone Gibson likes? It's actually quite amazing that with all the hate-spewed nonsense Gibson spits out, he hasn't gotten in a lot more trouble or that people haven't banned and boycotted his movies altogether.

Charlie Sheen - Threatens Dentists

I guess you can't even give Sheen nitrous oxide at the dentist's office without him losing his mind and acting completely irrational. In 2014, when he was undergoing treatment for a swollen tooth, he apparently pulled out a knife on the dental technician.

I mean, nobody likes the dentist's office, but why pull a knife on the dentist? And why exactly was he carrying a knife around with him in the first place? I suppose an even more interesting question is 'why it is this dentist would take on Charlie Sheen as a client in the first place?' You have to know that giving Sheen any sort of sedative could end badly. This one seemed to end with no harm done, but it's up there in terms of weird on the Sheen weirdness scale.

Mel Gibson - He Won't Go Away

In an interview with The Telegraph, Gibson was asked what he could take out of his trying times over the past number of years. Instead of being humble or apologetic, he opted for being offensive.

"I am one tough motherf&^$er and you can't bother me anymore. You ask anybody what their number one fear is and it's public humiliation. Multiply that on a global scale and that's what I've been through. It changes you and makes you one tough motherf&^$er. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."

Basically, what we've learned here is that not only does Mel Gibson not understand that what he did was wrong, but that he's tougher now for having received the scorn and consequences of his actions. If he can do that and get away with it, he can do pretty much anything.

Charlie Sheen - Lied About Having HIV, Paid People To Stay Quiet

It's not a crime to be HIV positive. Even though Sheen admits to being careless in catching the disease, that's the not the issue at hand. Even paying to have people stay quiet can be somewhat understood. But, it becomes an issue when you know that you are HIV positive and you refuse to take steps to protect those around you. Charlie Sheen was not only HIV positive, but he kept it a secret for over four years not telling many, if any, of the partners he'd been with after he found out about it.

While he contended to share the news, the star faced a barrage of lawsuits after ex-girlfriends claim he never told them his status. Just hours after Sheen told Matt Lauer on Today that he has had the virus for 'roughly four years', the actor's former girlfriend, Bree Olson, showed up on The Howard Stern Show saying that it wasn't true and labeling Sheen a monster. Another former girlfriend, Natalie Kenly, came forward to say the same.
