There are so many love scenes out there in the film and television world. And while people just assume it's nothing but actors grinding up against each other, it's often more than that. Obviously not all actors are mindless drones, so there's some personal stake in each scene. Sometimes there's even actual sex!

But of course not every actor enjoys working with their scene partners. Sometimes the feeling is mutual. Sometimes both hate each other so much that they yell, and scream on set in the hopes that one of them is finally just replaced. Who knew that Ryan Gosling, or Nathan Fillion were such pains to work with?

Who knew that Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis would have completely opposite opinions of their terrific tumble in Black Swan?

Some of the actors below hated each other. Some tried to take advantage of one or the other. Some just had great fun...and even some just had fun with themselves (Robert Pattinson). So here are 16 actors who did or didn't want to do a love scene with their screen partners.

Wanted To - Yael Stone With The Cast Of OITNB

Now to be fair, Stone has not had love scenes with the entire cast of Orange Is The New Black. That would just be silly. Realistically she has had love scenes with two characters on the show. Her bunk mate Nicky, and her eventual husband Vince. And Stone has nothing but positive things to say about each and every love scene she's shot with both characters. She looks at those scenes as a privilege. “The sex scenes are also a privilege, and we have to see it that way. If it’s written by great people — these people that write the show are really smart, we can trust them — I do feel like those scenes are really necessary. It’s a big part of [prison] life. To be able to go into those private moments, and be authentic with that … that’s what I’m interested in”. It seems even if Billy Bob Thornton were in one of those scenes, Stone would still find a way to appreciate him.

Didn't Want To - Jason Statham With Amy Smart

So to be fair to Amy Smart, Statham's dread of this sex scene from Crank 2: High Voltage is not ultimately her fault. Statham has shot many love scenes over the course of his career, but they were predominantly in closed or privates sets. Never had he been going full force on a fellow actor in the middle of a horse track, with hundreds of people watching. "Trying to do an aggressive sex scene is quite difficult. Especially in a public place with a crowd of screaming extras with their little camera phones going click-click, taking pictures of your pasty white ass." So while he wasn't specifically put off by Amy Smart (who is a very attractive woman), he was certainly put off by the crowds, and incredible lack of privacy. It's a very hot scene all the same though...even if a bit ridiculous.

Wanted To - Anna Paquin With Stephen Moyer

Anyone who not only watches True Blood, but also knows anything about the cast, will not be shocked to know that Anna Paquin manages to have a great time on set. Why? Well because she's married to one of the actors she most frequently has sex scenes with. That's a pretty good start. Sure, it might seem uncomfortable to pretend to have sex with your husband in front of a film crew...but she seems to both enjoy, and look forward to it. "Maybe it should be weird, simulating sex with your husband in front of people? But it's really not. When it's a love scene with someone you actually love, there's no feeling like, 'Can I touch him here? Can I touch him there?' You know what your boundaries are — or what they aren't, I suppose."

Didn't Want To - Claire Danes With Leo DiCaprio

One of the greatest love stories of all time – Romeo & Juliet. Sure, it's definitely overdone, but everyone was excited for this film when it came out. There was one person who specifically wasn't excited during production though. And that was Claire Danes. Danes got the opportunity surely many women (and men) would love to have...a love scene with Leo DiCaprio. But she despised him. She could not stand the way he would goof off between, and during scenes. Whenever they weren't shooting, Danes would make sure she was as far away from him as possible. She apparently found him to be "very immature". Which is hilarious considering that Danes was only 17 at the time, and DiCaprio was 21.

Wanted To - Anne Hathaway With Jake Gyllenhaal

Ok, let's be honest here, who would not love to have a love scene with Anne Hathaway!? Those of you who virtually raised your hands...leave. Either way, this is about Hathaway's enjoyment of love scenes. In Love And Other Drugs, she and Jake Gyllenhaal have quite a go at each other. "There is that revoltingly embarrassing moment when you have to take your clothes off in front of strangers...As with all things in life, the second you stop making it about you and you make it about everyone else, it just got, dare I say, fun." So she had a great time, because of everyone else's enjoyment. Sure, she wasn't exactly gearing up for a tumble with Gyllenhaal, but she made it fun for everyone. Well...maybe not Jake, but that's his own fault anyway.

Didn't Want To - Jake Gyllenhaal With Anne Hathaway

Now this may have been said as a joke, but it seems to be Gyllenhaal's only real comment about working with Anne Hathaway on Love And Other Drugs. He actually seemed to not have a good time at all! "I've had a pretty illustrious career at this point, but the hardest thing has been pretending to be turned on by Anne Hathaway. And I pride myself on really having pulled it off." It does come across as a bit sarcastic, because who wouldn't want to have a love scene with Hathaway? But again, being the only real comment he's made on the scene...I think he's actually being serious to some degree. It's amazing. Hathaway tries to make the scene for everyone else...and Gyllenhaal makes it all about himself. At least it turned out to be a pretty good scene.

Wanted To - Jon Hamm With Kristen Wiig

Maybe it's because of his work on Mad Men, but Jon Hamm seems like he's got a sort of trumped up sense of himself that people just don't share. “All right, we’re doing this, so let’s have fun with it. You know what I mean? You’re in that moment and it’s happening, so you might as well enjoy it” And it seems pretty clear that Hamm enjoys it every time he goes for it. And why wouldn't he with Kristen Wiig? She's a gorgeous woman (like pretty well every other actor Hamm's ever had to do a love scene with). A man in that position...or any other position he's directed to be in, must not find it too difficult to have a high opinion of himself. It's too bad for him that not all of his co-stars feel exactly the same way.

Didn't Want To - Mila Kunis With Natalie Portman

"It's hard to have a sex scene, period. It doesn't matter if it's a friend, a male, a female. You're with 100-something crew members, lighting you, repositioning you, there's no comfort whatsoever." Maybe it wasn't ultimately personal, but Kunis did not find any satisfaction in the shooting of her love scene with Portman. She found it nothing but uncomfortable. Perhaps the only positive thing she has ever taken from the experience was the ability to say that Portman is the only person both she and Ashton Kutcher have kissed...you know...besides each other.

Wanted To - Ryan Reynolds With Olivia Wilde

Ryan Reynolds is one of the biggest stars right now, so how could he not just have fun whenever it's thrown his way? And who better to have fun than with the stunning Olivia Wilde!? "So in the scene she's sitting there, and I take her top off, I take her bra off, and she has those pasties on, but she's drawn these adorable little smiley faces on them. And I forget every line in the scene. Not just from this movie, from every movie I've done." Reynolds and Wilde reportedly had a wonderful time working together on The Change-Up, and get on well enough that they even looked forward to such sexy scenes. Good on them for being able to have fun on the job...and for giving every audience member something to enjoy!

Didn't Want To - Kristen Wiig With Jon Hamm

First off...Kristen Wiig is stunning. Quite stunning. Secondly, in spite of how much Jon Hamm reportedly had in their love scene in Bridesmaids, Wiig did not share his enthusiasm by any means. "There's some good positions in there. Jon Hamm — pumpin' away. He was making his money that day. There was nothing hot about that scene. We weren't, like, looking into each other's eyes." Maybe it was that Wiig knew how much Hamm loved to shoot love scenes...either way, she did not by any means look forward to rolling in the sheets with Hamm. And she felt completely disconnected. Which is perhaps one of the worst things for an actor to feel. Of course so many people love the film, but that doesn't change the dislike Wiig had for Hamm on set. Most toxic duos on set seem to make some pretty great film moments...

Wanted To - Natalie Portman With Mila Kunis

Natalie Portman has a very steamy scene with Mila Kunis in the film Black Swan. And while it may not have been comfortable for everyone, Portman really found herself learning a lot from working Kunis. “I was figuring out my own sexual identity, likes and dislikes and all that stuff, and it’s weird to be doing stuff on film as you’re figuring it out”. Even though she found it weird to be sorting all of that out on set, she stated that she owes quite a bit to Kunis for their work. And she even mentioned that she had fun after a time. There is a similar theme with some actors who will just let it all happen, and throw caution to the wind. Portman did just that, and ended up having a really great time. A time that readers can now only dream about (while re-watching the scene).

Didn't Want To - Rachel McAdams With Ryan Gosling

The interesting thing about the toxic on-set relationship between Rachel McAdams, and Ryan Gosling, is that they ended up actually being together for some time in reality, after The Notebook came out. But while they were shooting the film, they could not stand each other. How they ever managed to make any of their love scenes realistic is incredible. They must have channeled their hatred into a wonderful performance. "I walked out ... I smoked a cigarette and everybody came out like, 'All right let's do this.' And it got better after that, you know? They had it out." Said the director of the film, after he conducted a therapy session with the two actors. It even got to the point where Gosling was asking the director to remove McAdams from his scenes.

Wanted To - Robert Pattinson With...Himself

Oh it should be no surprise that Pattinson loves himself so much. When it came to Twilight he was actually very uncomfortable with his love scenes. But there was a little unknown film called Little Ashes. Allegedly, he didn't want to look like he was faking anything in the film. So what did he do? He took matters into his own hands...or his own hand anyway. “So I pleasured myself in front of the camera. My orgasm face is recorded for eternity.” That's right. He actually went out of his way to masturbate in front of the cast and crew, in order to give a worthwhile, and believable performance. What's funny about that is surely there are very few people who really think he's not just acting there. The sad reality of film...no one knows what's real anymore.

Didn't Want To - Sarah Silverman With An Extra

Sarah Silverman is probably one of the most hilarious women in the entertainment industry today, and has been for years. While she was working on a comedy that she refused to name when recalling the story, she talked about an experience she had with an extra. Already uncomfortable with the idea of shooting a sex scene with someone she just did not know she had even more trouble. "He is completely naked except for not even the thickness of a sock. I can completely feel his boner. He's not even a real actor, he's an extra. And he's smashing me and f*cking the sh*t out of me in the scene." She had asked for some sort of safety buffer between the two of them before shooting started. But no one bothered to listen. According to Silverman "It hurt to walk for days".

Wanted To - Billy Bob Thornton With Halle Berry

Remember back when Billy Bob Thornton was married to Angelina Jolie? You're not alone. No one wants to think back to those days. At any rate, it should be no shocker that Thornton absolutely enjoyed getting his rocks off in a love scene with Halle Berry in Monster's Ball. “When I was growing up, I obviously didn’t know who Halle Berry was, but if I had known I would have made sure it happened. I would have written ‘Monster’s Ball’ myself immediately”. As soon as he saw Halle Berry for the first time, he was over the Moon about shooting a love scene with her. Some rumour that they were actually having sex on set. And perhaps that is bolstered by the fact that Jolie and Thornton divorced the very next year. Ultimately he was probably trying to get with every woman he worked with...and Jolie was probably already on Pitt.

Didn't Want To - Stana Katic With Nathan Fillion

Apparently it is not unusual to really not like Nathan Fillion on set. Much of the cast and crew of Castle really did not like him. Least of all, it seemed his on-screen love interest, Stana Katic really did not like him, or the prospect of any love scenes. According to a source from the show “Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion completely despise each other...They will not speak when they are off set, and this has been going on for seasons now.” It apparently even got to the point where the two actors had to endure couples counselling together. It's pretty sad when two actors who are not lovers in real life at all, have to go to counselling. And in the end, Katic left the show shortly before it was cancelled. Though she says it has nothing to do with Fillion...no one believes her.
