16 Farmers’ Daughters We’d Let Ride On Our Horse

Everyone has heard the old adage about “farmers’ daughters.” Sure, there’s a bit of a stigma here. We all imagine an overdeveloped hot blonde who seems reckless and beautiful all at the same time. It’s a passionate young woman who’s desperate to live a little but has been all by her lonesome on that big farm helping the family out. So, when a wayward young man comes her way, she can’t wait to experience life and all that it sexually has to offer. Taking the “fantasy” element out of this equation, there have been many a girl who grew up on the farm. Some were beautiful young women who may have been a little sequestered from a lot of life’s experiences due to her proximity to big cities. But make no mistake about it: the vast majority of women who grew up on farms weren’t waiting for a young man to come along just so they could jump him. It’s a nice adult-film scenario — but not exactly reality.

The reality is, these young beauties were often hard-nosed, hardworking girls who grew up “farm strong.” They helped the family milk cows, tend the chickens, and shovel a heck of a lot of feed and poop. Many farm families are in an all-for-one world order where the family all pitches in for the greater good. Despite having rougher hands than most, a lot of these young women had dreams just like big city girls. Some of them were drop-dead gorgeous and hoped to possibly pose for a magazine or star in a commercial someday. And some had the drive to want to conquer the bright lights of Hollywood. Many of these women had to take a massive leap of faith, leaving their homes and jet-setting for the million-to-one chance at making it big in the entertainment business. And some of these women did just that! These are 16 farmers’ daughters who hit it big in Hollywood!

16. Carrie Underwood

American Idol sensation Carrie Underwood has become one of the biggest singing stars in both pop and country music circles. Underwood was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on her parents’ farm. Her father worked in a sawmill, while her mother was an elementary school teacher. Underwood was always rambunctious and hyperactive as a child, leading to a diagnosis of ADHD. But she found a great outlet in music. 2005 was a very big year for Underwood. She got her chance to sing on the big stage on the show American Idol. There, she destroyed the competition, winning every week handily, according to show producers. Simon Cowell predicted Underwood would go on to outsell all previous Idol winners combined, and he was correct. This country girl has racked up nearly $200 million in earnings during her career and shows no signs of slowing down.

15. Miley Cyrus

Well, if there’s one girl who came from the farm and killed it, Miley Cyrus would certainly be near the top of any list. She emerged as a bright-eyed, energetic Hannah Montana on the Disney series bearing the same name. Now, Cyrus is a huge worldwide sensation. She not only killed it as a young actress showcasing incredible talent, but she’s also rampaged the music industry with tremendous tunes that have reached far beyond her Disney days. At the same time, Cyrus has struggled to make the personal leap from Disney superstar and the daughter of a famous country music singer (Billy Ray Cyrus) to a young adult making powerful tunes. Her modest days started back in Franklin, Tennessee on a 500-acre farm, where she was born with the name “Destiny Hope Cyrus.” These days, she goes by “Miley,” her nickname as a youth based on the fact she loved to smile. It’s stuck as her stage name, and these days, Cyrus is smiling all the way to the bank.

14. Jennie Garth

Remembering the television show Beverly Hills 90210 immediately brings about thoughts of the blonde beauty from the show, Jennie Garth. Garth was the “hot girl” on the show. But before she ever slipped on her pair of Vans to star in the preppy hit television series, Garth was a small town girl. She was born in Urbana, Illinois, far from the bright lights and big city of nearby Chicago. Growing up, Garth spent much of her time on the family’s 25-acre horse ranch. Garth’s family moved out to Arizona when she entered her teenage years, and that’s when she was discovered. From there, Garth would leave for Hollywood during her junior year in high school. Garth has had a successful career starring in both television series as well as TV movies. Garth is currently on her third marriage, hoping this one does the trick.

13. Miranda Lambert

Miranda Lambert was a country-music queen prior to her split with country singer Blake Shelton. Born in Longview, Texas but growing up in Lindale, Texas, she lived in a house that was built back in 1902 that didn’t have central heat or air. They had chickens and pigs on their farm. She reminisced about jumping into large bales of hay for entertainment after school ended and being treated with milk and cookies by her mother. Certainly, these days, Lambert has returned back to her roots, purchasing much larger farmland than she ever owned. It was a dream for her to return to her “roots.” Lambert, for her part, has had a very successful music career. When she and Blake Shelton married, it was as if country royalty had gotten together. Their fairy tale would soon end when rumors of Lambert’s infidelities surfaced. They would end up in divorce, and she continued dating the man she had had an affair with. Both have since happily moved on.

12. Miranda Kerr

Miranda Kerr may be most known as a Victoria’s Secret Angel in 2007, but she initially started modeling at the age of 13. In 1997, she won the Dolly magazine modeling search. Kerr was born in Sydney, Australia and was raised in New South Wales where she grew up on her grandmother’s farm. There, she used to love to race motorbikes and ride horses. Kerr describes her childhood as very “grounding” in retrospect to the realities of fame and fortune. Kerr blew up as a model at a young age and started to travel the world. Her appointment to the Victoria’s Secret Angel squad only further enhanced her status in the industry. Kerr is a stellar model of the highest caliber and, along the way, found her way to marry dreamy actor Orlando Bloom. They had a child together, but their union ended in divorce. Her next marriage was to Snapchat billionaire Evan Spiegel.

11. Krysten Ritter

Krysten Ritter is a successful model and actress who has had an impressive career to date. She was born Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. Ritter grew up just outside Shickshinny, Pennsylvania with her mother and stepfather. At the age of 15, a local talent scout liked the potential she possessed at a modeling event. The “tall, gawky, awkward and really, really skinny” Ritter started to travel to New York City on her days off from high school and started modeling there as well as in the greater Philadelphia area. She signed with Elite Model management and eventually went to live in the big city, New York City, full-time at 18 years old. Ritter showcased more personality and talent in an audition for a Dr. Pepper commercial. She found a path as an actress and hasn’t looked back since, both modeling and acting at the same time. Ritter is currently playing Jessica Jones in Marvel’s Netflix series of the same name.

10. Candice Cassidy

Candice Cassidy was born in Columbus, Ohio. And the Ohio native has not strayed too far from her roots. Cassidy grew up on her family’s 60-acre farm where her mother breeds and raises walking horses. This farm girl has the look down, too. She’s sexy and blonde. Her 34C-24-36 physique drew Hugh Hefner to arrange and design her photo shoot himself. Fellow Playmate Holly Madison directed the shoot. Cassidy’s success started back in 2006 where she was Cybergirl of the Week and Year for recreating Playboy photo spreads from the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s. In 2009, Cassidy became Miss June with the Hefner/Madison shoot. It was always a dream of hers to fulfill. Cassidy is a successful model who had a world of opportunities in front of her but ultimately chose to stick with her passion for dance and open up her own studio in Ohio. She enjoyed Los Angeles and the Playboy Mansion, making some good money during her time there, but she always knew she would end up where her heart was. She loves her family farm and with 8 horses, a goat, and many dogs and cats under her belt, Cassidy won’t be straying from Ohio anytime soon.

9. Eva Longoria

Eva Longoria was the hottest of all the “desperate housewives.” She had a fairytale romance and wedding to basketball star Frenchman Tony Parker. And she’s dealt with heartbreak and loss over her husband’s infidelities. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, Longoria recently joined the 40-year-0ld club two years ago. Her striking good looks come from her Mexican-American background. Longoria first grew up on her Santa Rita Ranch along with her parents and siblings. Longoria has used her celebrity to champion numerous causes. One personal cause was the use of underage workers on farms. Longoria was the producer on the documentary The Harvest, which focused on the subject of kids being used as cheap labor on farmlands. Without a doubt, this occurs in both the United States and Mexico. In addition, Longoria has enjoyed tremendous success on both the small and big screens. And of course, she’s gorgeous.

8. Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron has always been one of the most beautiful and accomplished women in Hollywood. Her sexiness oozes off of the big screen in nearly every role she plays. She’s an impressive talent who combines striking beauty and A-list acting chops. Her journey began back far, far away from the lights of Hollywood. Theron was born in Benoni, South Africa. She grew up on her family farm in Benoni, her incredible looks coming from her Dutch, German, and French ancestry. She’s the ancestor of French Huguenots who settled down in South Africa. Theron had a rough home life, with her father being a troubled alcoholic. He threatened and beat her mother, prompting Theron’s mother to shoot and kill him. Her mother was cleared of wrongdoing. Theron had hoped to be a successful dancer growing up, but injuries sidetracked her future and made her depressed. But no worries; she found her way toward a different future — acting — and she hasn’t looked back since.

7. Taylor Swift

Swifties, rise and cheer! That’s right — we’ve arrived at one of the biggest farm girls to strike it rich in Taylor Swift. Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, Swift grew up on a farm, but not the kind where chickens lay eggs and cows wander around. She actually grew up on a Christmas tree farm. Swift’s family had 15 acres of Christmas tree-harvesting land, and they waited for their big opportunity each year to make the extra money. But her dad was a financial advisor, and her mother turned housewife as the kids multiplied in the home. Swift’s family spent their summers by the Jersey Shore, where she has many fond memories. But her breakout came when she moved to Nashville, Tennessee and began to focus on her singing career that’s made her one of the biggest (if not the biggest) singing stars in the world.

6. Jewel

Jewel is no stranger to country living. She grew up on farmland in Alaska, where they lacked indoor plumbing. Born in Payson, Utah, the singer/songwriter grew up in Homer, Alaska. Jewel grew up with her father, and they would travel around the Alaskan countryside by singing in bars and taverns to make ends meet. The talented Jewel eventually found her way to Southern California and worked as a barista, sleeping in her car while she did performances in small cafes. These small performances would eventually get her noticed. And not long after, the epic album Pieces of You would drop. The album would sell over 12 million copies across the United States alone. Jewel had officially arrived. She also has branched out into acting. She married pro rodeo cowboy Ty Murray and used to castrate their cows herself on their ranch in Texas (You can take this girl out of the country, but there is no taking the country out of her). Unfortunately, she and Murray got divorced in 2014, but this girl will always have her strong outback upbringing in her heart.

5. Shannon Tweed

Shannon Tweed may be hitched to KISS frontman Gene Simmons these days, but back in her early years, she grew up on a mink farm in Newfoundland, Canada. Tweed got breast implants early in life and started entering beauty contests. Combined with her singing talents, Tweed drew quite a bit of positive attention her way and eventually captured the Miss Canada talent competition for her singing. Tweed went on to score Playmate of the Month for November 1981. She had such a positive impact, Playmate of the Year honors were on tap for 1982. From there, Tweed became the queen of erotic thriller. She would take it all off for intense thrillers that captivated her fans who enjoyed her scream scenes. In 1983, Tweed and Simmons started their love affair. After 28 years of being a couple, Simmons finally proposed, and the two wed in 2011.

4. Melissa McCarthy

Without a doubt, one of the most successful women on this list has to be Melissa McCarthy. Currently, McCarthy is on an A-list run as the “go-to” woman to anchor comedic roles in Hollywood. McCarthy was born in Plainfield, Illinois, a suburb of the “windy city” of Chicago. McCarthy grew up on a large farm. Her cousin, Jenny McCarthy, began drawing a ton of attention when she shot up in popularity due to her appearance in Playboy. With Jenny McCarthy’s reputation soaring, it gave her the opportunity to make a few calls for her talented cousin, Melissa. After starring in the NBC sitcom Jenny opposite her cousin, Melissa McCarthy started to land some larger roles. Her talent was growing, and the television show Gilmore Girls helped her blossom and get recognized. Since, McCarthy has done her most damage on the big screen with big time comedic roles. She’s currently one of the more bankable female stars around.

3. Martina McBride

Martina McBride was originally “Martina Mariea Schiff.” She was born in Sharon, Kansas. Her parents owned a dairy farm. At a young age, McBride fell in love with country music and started singing every day after school. She fine-tuned her vocal skills and started to perform. As she got older, she fell in love and married a studio engineer named John McBride. The two moved to Nashville, Tennessee with hopes of Martina taking her shot at the big time. McBride managed her life as a successful singer and mother. She made a point to stay at home more once her daughters were born, choosing to be a mother, first, and a country music star, second. The former country girl has been highly successful wearing both hats, a rare feat in the entertainment industry.

2. Brittany Brousseau

Hot, beautiful, and a Playmate of the Month, Brittany Brousseau is a gorgeous woman who was born in La Mesa, California. She was Playmate of the Month for May 2015. Her slim and sleek build has made her a highly desired woman in her chosen field: p–n. The erotic film star has done an amazing job in her films. It’s Brittany’s combination of both French and Cherokee descent that makes her stand apart from the many in her field. Brousseau grew up on her family’s farm in Kansas. Brousseau used to bale hay and break ice before school started. At 18, Brousseau wanted to enroll in a police academy (she can handcuff me anytime). She quickly changed her mind and moved to Miami to pursue her modeling career where she succeeded greatly and has since moved to California to continue giving the world a glimpse of that beautiful body.

1. Amber Valletta

The amazing Amber Valletta was born in Phoenix and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She’s a stunning combination of Portuguese and Cherokee descent. Amber spent weekends and summers on her grandparents’ farm in Tulsa, and will never forget where she came from, stating, “Home in where your heart is.” Valletta’s beauty started her career as a model when she was young. She walked the runway alongside Kate Moss and has appeared on the cover of Vogue more than a dozen times. Her career has now branched out into the movie industry, appearing in several large movies, including the film Gamer starring Gerard Butler. In 2003, Amber married Olympic volleyball player Chip McCaw, and the two had a son together. Sadly, they divorced in 2015 right after Valletta spoke out about her drug and alcohol addiction.
