16 Celebrities Who Are A Nightmare To Work With

You have to imagine that of all the careers out there that would come with an inflated ego, being a celebrity has to be pretty high up on the list. Whether you’re a famous musician, actor or a bit of both, no career involving fame is the same as we tackle the 16 most popular celebrities that have openly been criticized.

Sure, you may be at home thinking about how much you love Bill Murray or Bruce Willis, but you definitely will have a jarred opinion of them by the end of the list. Willis even gets compared to working with a dementor!

You may also wish you could have locked lips with the bombshell Marilyn Monroe or Sharon Stone, but you’ll also find out that the latter was so hated that crew members peed in her bathtub. Monroe, to her credit, gets off “lighter” and co-star Tony Curtis just compared kissing her to like kissing to Hitler.

Granted that isn’t the worst comparison on the list, as we also have one famous musician who gets compared to Satan.

You’ll also learn all about some of the biggest beefs in the history of Hollywood, including the decade-long feud between C-3PO and R2-D2 and the time Megan Fox compared Michael Bay to Hitler or why Aunt Vivian left Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and why Terrence Howard took flight away from RDJ.

We’ve also split our list down the middle, with 8 males and 8 females as we cover the 16 celebrities that are a nightmare to work with.

16. Bruce Willis (According To Kevin Smith) – He Calls Him A Dementor

Now you typically may not want to insult Bruce Willis to his face, after all, John McClain is a pretty big badass on-screen character at the very least. But for director Kevin Smith who worked with Willis as an actor in Live Free or Die Hard and directed Willis in Cop Out, his experience was far from positive.

In his book, Tough Shit, Smith holds nothing back saying,

“[Willis] fostered an unpleasant and unproductive working environment whenever he was on set. He turned out to be the unhappiest, most bitter, and meanest emo-bitch I’ve ever met at any job I’ve held down. And mind you, I’ve worked at Domino’s Pizza.”

Still not enough shade? In another interview Smith literally said,

“If you’ve ever seen those Harry Potter movies, he’s the Dementor.”

15. Shannen Doherty (According to Cast Members/Documentary) – Constantly Acted Like A Diva

There is going to be no doubt by the end of this list that Shannen Doherty is not incredibly hard to work with.

When 90210 released a documentary revealing some secrets from behind the scenes, Doherty and her diva behavior was at the forefront of a lot of people’s minds.

Doherty was notorious for showing up late to work and constantly engaging in fights with various cast members.

There is also a story in which Doherty showed up to a photo shoot and demanded to be the only one to wear a red dress; when Jennie and Tori also wanted to wear red, Doherty switched so she’d be the only one in black.

That isn’t how you want to stand out in Hollywood!

14. Michael Bay (According To Megan Fox)

Megan Fox owes a lot of her career to the success of the Transformers franchise and the direction of Megan Fox, but she hasn’t always had positive things to say about Bay.

“He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So he’s a nightmare to work for but when you get him away from set, and he’s not in director mode, I kind of really enjoy his personality because he’s so awkward, so hopelessly awkward.”

The comments were enough for producer Steven Spielberg to order her to get fired. Who knew it was a bad thing to compare the director to Hitler? We’re sure this isn’t a mistake that Fox will make again.

13. Teri Hatcher (According To Dave Berg & Nicollette Sheridan) – Would Call Late At Night And Scream

Teri Hatcher made a name for herself for several years playing one of the leads on the series Desperate Housewives, but you’d be mistaken if you thought it was one big happy family. Nicollette Sheridan allegedly called Hatcher “The meanest woman in the world,” a claim that may be backed up by Dave Berg.

Whose Dave Berg? He is a former Producer for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and in his book he ripped into Hatcher saying,

“I called her Teri One and Teri Two, though not to her face. Teri One was charming, smart, witty, and flirtatious. Terri Two was moody. She would call me late the night before her scheduled appearance, scream at me for not having better ideas, and then hang up. The next day, she would come to the show as Teri One, acting as if nothing had ever happened.”

That is hardly the impression you want to give in Hollywood.

12. Sharon Stone (According To Joe Eszterhas & William Baldwin) – Crew Went #1 In Her Bathtub

We’ve got two stories for the price of one when it comes to the sex symbol that is Sharon Stone. The first comes from her time working for the movie Silver which was written by Joe Eszterhas. When talking about the experience on the film, Eszterhas admitted that Stone once bit William Baldwin’s tongue during a passionate kissing scene due to their strained relationship.

She also made sure to chug some mouthwash after every kissing scene which you can imagine hurt his confidence.

Though it may be Stone who is the bigger nightmare to work with. Eszterhas also admitted that Stone was so hated that in a previous movie, the film crew had urinated in the bathtub that she was supposed to use.

While Eszterhas did not mean to share these stories in an embarrassing way or to shame Stone’s name, as the two are close friends, they definitely don’t paint her in the best light!

11. Bill Murray (According To Lucy Liu) – Openly Insulted Her Constantly

Now it’s possible that maybe Bill Murray was just trying to find a way to get out of the sequel for Charlie’s Angels, but the next story definitely does not paint him in the best light.

During the filming of the first movie, Murray would constantly get into spats with fellow co-star Lucy Liu and definitely did not treat her with respect.

It was reported by People magazine, that Murray would loudly complain including one day,

“Bill Murray stopped a scene in progress and pointed to Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu saying in order, ‘I get why you’re here, and you’ve got talent….but what in the hell are you doing here. You can’t act!,'” which perhaps understandably turned into a physical altercation between the two.

They were able to get through the movie, but there was no way in hell they were bringing Murray anywhere close to Liu if they could help it!

10. Taylor Momson (According To Tim Gunn) – Called Her Pathetic And A Brat

Tayor Momsen made a name for herself for appearing on Gossip Girl, but towards the end of her time with the series, it definitely seemed like she could not care less about putting in an effort.

This was noticeable not only to the main cast but to the guest stars that came through, including Tim Gunn who was not shy about attacking Momsen in a past interview, saying,

“What a diva. She was pathetic, she couldn’t remember her lines, and she didn’t even have that many. I thought to myself, ‘Why are we being held hostage by this brat?’”

9. Will Smith (According To Janet Hubert) – Called Him An A-Hole

Will Smith owes his acting career to the wildly successful series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. For the first few seasons, his Aunt Vivian was played by Janet Hubert but amid backstage feuds, Hubert was recast for the fourth season.

Hubert was not shy about ripping into Smith when interviewing with TMZ. After asking if she would ever appear in a reunion, Hubert said

“There will never be a reunion … as I will never do anything with an a**hole like Will Smith… He is still an egomaniac and has not grown up. This constant reunion thing will never ever happen in my lifetime unless there is an apology, which he doesn’t know the word.”

Needless to say, the Prince has not commented on the matter!

8. Nicki Minaj (According To Mariah Carey) – Called Her Satan

Fans of American Idol will definitely remember the shade that was thrown between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj during the time that they were both on the show as judges. In case you forgot, there was an interview where Carey literally said, “It was like going to work every day in hell with Satan.”

Yikes! Carey also admitted that she was the first one who signed on as a judge, insinuating that she definitely would not have had she known Minaj was going to round out the roster.

It’s hard to argue with Carey, especially when you consider this is not the first celebrity to have a run-in with Minaj. She infamously feuded with Miley Cyrus at the VMAs back in 2015, including saying “And now back to this b*tch that had a lot to say about me in the press. Miley, what’s good?”

7. Ryan Gosling (According To McAdams & Director Nick Cassavetes) – Demanded McAdams Be Replaced

Now we suppose this one comes down to who you decide to side with, but if you ask us, Gosling is the one who seems like he was being the dick.

The story comes from when he was on The Notebook and was one day getting incredibly frustrated with having to work with McAdams. Gosling allegedly started screaming at the director asking for a new actress.

What changed? Director Nick Cassavetes opened up about the experience saying,

“We went into a room with a producer; they started screaming and yelling at each other, I walked out. At that point, I was smoking cigarettes. I smoked a cigarette and everybody came out like, ‘All right let’s do this.’ And it got better after that, you know? They had it out… I think Ryan respected her for standing up for her character and Rachel was happy to get that out in the open.”

Cassavetes went on to say, “The rest of the film wasn’t smooth sailing, but it was smoother sailing.”

6. Marilyn Monroe (According To Tony Curtis) – Like Kissing Hitler

Tony Curtis may have had a role of a lifetime in many guys’ eyes when he was cast opposite Marilyn Monroe in the movie Some Like it Hot. In fact, the two were even knocking boots in real life when they commenced the start of the movie.

And while it is not clear why things soured between the two, make no mistake about it as evident by our quote from Curtis, the two definitely did not end things on a positive note

“It was like kissing Hitler. It was awful. She nearly choked me to death by deliberately sticking her tongue down my throat into my windpipe.”

You can’t really get a more vicious insult than saying it was like kissing Hitler!

5. Kiefer Sutherland (According To Freddie Prinze Jr.) – Made Him Want To Quit Acting

You need to admit if you were playing a character who was as awesome at ass-kicking as Jack Bauer, you may often find yourself with an inflated ego. But that’s no excuse to let it get to your head and treat your co-stars like trash. Though unfortunately, that’s apparently exactly what Kiefer did according to Freddie Prinze Jr. who previously had an appearance on the series.

“I did 24, it was terrible. I hated every moment of it. I just wanted to quit the business after that. So, I just sort of stopped. Kiefer was the most unprofessional dude in the world. That’s not me talking trash, I’d say it to his face. I think everyone that’s worked with him has said that.”

Prinze also complained that they would always make him take his shoes off because he was noticeably taller than Kiefer.

4. Megan Fox (According To Michael Bay)

We’re going to go for a two-parter here but that means you get to look at an extra photo of Megan Fox, so are you really going to be hating? When Bay was asked to respond on the Hitler comparison, Bay said,

“I wasn’t hurt, because I know that’s just Megan. Megan loves to get a response. And she does it in kind of the wrong way. I’m sorry, Megan. I’m sorry I made you work twelve hours. I’m sorry that I’m making you show up on time. Movies are not always warm and fuzzy.”

LaBeouf also openly defended Bay, saying “Criticism is one thing. Then there’s public name-calling, which turns into high school bashing. Which you can’t do. She started sh*t-talking our captain.”

When Bay was asked to describe newcomer Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, he also made a point of noticing how Rosie would actually acknowledge the crew and say thank you to all of them; indirectly throwing more shade Fox’s way.

3. Anthony Daniels And Kenny Baker – They SERIOUSLY Hated Each Other

Say it isn’t so! Kenny Baker may no longer be with us, but his legacy as R2-D2 will last forever and so will the proof that he had some serious disdain for Anthony Daniels who played C-3PO.

One of the biggest shades came in 2008 when Baker was asked if he would be interested in attending a cast reunion leading him to say “It depends. If you invite his lordship, the one with the golden balls. If he comes, I won’t be there.”

Baker also opened up further in 2009, saying “I thought it was just me he didn’t get on with but recently I’ve found out he doesn’t get on with anyone. He’s been such an awkward person over the years,” while also including “He’s rude to everyone though, including the fans.”

Daniels stayed quiet on the matter for years, but in 2011 came out and said “I never saw him. I mean, R2-D2 doesn’t even speak. He might as well be a bucket,” before adding in 2015, “He’s not actually on set. I haven’t seen him for years. His name is on the credits as a sort of…I don’t know, a good luck charm, a courtesy. He’s a talisman.”

Something tells us they didn’t end their feud before Baker’s passing!

2. Selma Blaire (According To Charlie Sheen)

There were plenty of people who got on Charlie Sheen‘s bad side, but while most of his abuse came from Two and a Half Men, Selma Blaire is proof that he was also a jackass on Anger Management.

After reports came out that Blaire had complained about Sheen’s shoddy work ethic, Sheen refused to work and instead fired Blaire. To make it all the classier, he fired her over text with various expletives including calling her a c***.

Something tells us Blaire wasn’t too heartbroken to no longer be working with Sheen.

1. Robert Downey Jr. (According To Terrence Howard)

You’d have to be a blind person to not realize that in between the first and second Iron Man, the studio elected to go in a different direction for War Machine; casting Don Cheadle instead of re-hiring Terrence Howard.

The decision did not sit well with Howard, who went on Watch What Happens: Live and said “This is going to get me in a lot of trouble, but who gives a f**k. It turns out that the person that I helped become Iron Man, when it was time to re-up for the second one, took the money that was supposed to go to me and pushed me out.”

Terrence didn’t stop there, also opening up in an interview with Rolling Stone where he said he had called RDJ over 30 times following the incident. Yet in the same interview, he said,

“Never heard from him. And guess who got the millions I was supposed to get? He got the whole franchise, so I’ve actually given him $100 million, which ends up being a $100 million loss for me from me trying to look after somebody, but, you know, to this day I would do the same thing. It’s just my nature.”

The positive news here? The two recently shared a picture on social media with caption “Nice to see my old friend again…#lifestooshort #allgood.”

We’re glad they were able to bury the hatchet!
