First established in 1977 due to the sheer embarrassment of buying lingerie for his wife at a public department store, founder Roy Raymond opened the first Victoria’s Secret store at the Stanford shopping center in Palo Alto, California. Choosing the name Victoria, to associate with the refinement and middle class connotations of the Victorian era, Raymond added the “Secret” to portray what was hidden beneath the clothing. Now, one of the most successful lingerie brands in the whole wide world, as well as the largest American retailer of women’s underwear, Victoria’s Secret is probably at its most famous.
That’s right, not only famed for its eloquent and stylish undergarments, the brand is also known for launching the careers of a number of models, especially with regards to the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. The event, which shows a number of up and coming models, has become something of an A-lister event, with more and more celebrities attending the show each year. Now, at the height of its fame, the latest fashion show was lauded for being more about the models than the fashion itself. However, obviously not listening to the accusations, the company has continued in its efforts to publicize their models, with the 2016 Victoria’s Secret fashion show being one of most entertaining to date. So, to celebrate the beauty of women, here are 15 Victoria’s Secret Models to look out for in 2017.

Shockingly, Grothe had never walked the Victoria’s Secret catwalk before, with 2016 marking her debut into the famed lingerie brand. It’s helped me overcome the idea that my beauty is synonymous with the length of my hair. I’m sure for many women it’s difficult not to feel this way when everyone and everything tells you it is. Knowing this has given me a sense of empowerment, that regardless my beauty comes from a place that couldn’t be altered aesthetically.
