15 Hot Straight Actresses Who Played Lesbian Characters (And Slayed)

The phrase “gay for pay” just got a whole lot realer.

From Megan Fox to Natalie Portman, Hollywood’s finest actresses have fully delved into their characters without any inhibitions. Even women who identify themselves as heterosexual have played onscreen lesbian roles.

Not only do they look bomb, but they act bomb too. They’re giving men the fantasies of a lifetime, and they’re compelling straight women to question their sexuality. However, these actresses are doing more than just captivating an audience.

They’re spreading a message. Just look at Fox’s role in the horror film Jennifer’s Body. On the outside, people see the flick as another cheesy attempt to attract viewers with a plot that screams s*x appeal. After all, the movie does star Fox. However, beyond her wardrobe, hair, makeup, and insatiable appetite for s*x (with both men and women), within her lies a strong woman embroiled in angst and conflict.

While she’s dressed up to be the villain who has a penchant for vengeance, violence, and s*x, she exemplifies–in an albeit disturbing way–a woman’s power. Or, at the very least, she’s just peacocking the tired ideals of American beauty. Or, maybe it’s just not that deep.

Fox just plays a freaky, hot man-eater who’s also down to go down. Aside from the s*xual violence and gory murders, she’s every man’s dream. While nobody can outmatch Fox’s portrayal of an enchantress under demonic possession, other straight actresses playing hot lesbians look just as good. So good, in fact, that Jennifer would take a bite.

15. Dancing Around Taboo Topics

Black Swan

If you’ve never seen Black Swan, then watch the movie tonight.

The film’s one of the best thrillers of the 21st century. Not only is the directing great, but the cast is phenomenal. The entire plot is based on one woman’s descent into madness and how her starring role in Swan Lake makes her lose her mind even more.

From anorexia to drug abuse, the main character, Nina (Portman), has a slew of problems. However, her biggest problem is her competition, Lily (Mila Kunis). Even though the two ballerinas are supposedly at odds, they share one night of passion. Between the booze and ecstasy pills they down, they were bound to be in bed together. Their chemistry just could not be denied.

14. Model Experimentation

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie is hot. Enough said.

While the famous actress was married to Brad Pitt for a few years, she never lost touch with her bisexuality. When she starred in the movie Gia, for example, she really let her inhibitions go. Alongside costar Elizabeth Mitchell, she reenacted her wildest fantasies.

The ladies recorded several s*x scenes together. Whether they were naked in photo shoots, on the bed, or in the shower, they were shot having s*x in different locales…and positions. However, the love scenes were accurate portrayals of model Gia Marie Carangi’s own love life. So, of course, Jolie and Mitchell came correct.

13. A ‘Monster’ In Bed

Monster

When Charlize Theron played Aileen Wuornos in the docudrama Monster, she had to get into the character of a lesbian serial killer.

Obviously, Theron worked her a*s off, which is why she won an Oscar for her role. Even though the movie delves into rather deep and dark subjects, Theron personalized Monster in her own way. Audiences got to see the sweeter side of Theron’s character when she was with Selby Wall (Christina Ricci).

Their relationship was unhealthy, but there were tender moments in between the booze and brawls. Their love scene never showed any scandal, but Wuornos and Wall shared lusty kisses and passionate touches in their motel room. Audiences got the idea, not to mention the image.

12. From Blue To Over The Moon

Blue Is the Warmest Color

If you’re struggling with your sexuality or if you just enjoy lesbian films, then you should watch Blue Is the Warmest Color.

The French film stars Adèle Exarchopoulos (Adèle), a young woman who is in the throes of experimentation and newfound discovery. After she meets another young woman named Emma (Léa Seydoux), the two form a strong relationship.

As the twosome navigate through school and career, they experience the ups and downs of their roller-coaster ride of a relationship. However, instead of steamy make-out sessions, they’re literally engaging in fingering, cunnilingus, and scissoring. The s*x scenes are very intense, but they’re also very beautiful. Kudos to Exarchopoulos! Not only does she stun in the movie, but she stuns in real life too. However, instead of prepping for film festivals and red carpets, she’s now prepping for a newborn. Exarchopoulos is pregnant!

11. ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ Likes Women

Rooney Mara

In the remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Rooney Mara plays Lisbeth Salander, a young woman who’s a brilliant hacker…and a dangerous lover.

While she’s seen with men in several scenes, one shot focused on Salander at a gay bar. She met a woman there, so she led her back to her apartment.

While audiences never see anything beyond kissing, the two women definitely had s*x. She was seen on Salander’s mattress the next morning. Not only did the audience get an eyeful of the woman, but so did Salander’s partner in crime, Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig).

10. Cheering On Love

Note: I know she’s a lesbian. But, she slays, so she’ll be included in this list.

Everyone knows Natasha Lyonne from Orange Is the New Black. She plays Nicky Nichols, the heroin addict who’s involved in an on-again, off-again romance with Lorna Morello (Yael Stone).

However, before her fame and fortune, Lyonne was known on a much smaller scale. If she was recognized for something, her role in But I’m a Cheerleader would’ve been the reason of said recognition.

She played Megan, a high school student who is popular, rich, and a cheerleader, of course. However, she’s also a lesbian. Despite her parents’ wishes, she falls in love with Graham (Clea DuVall) at a conversion camp.

9. ‘American Hustle’, Or American Dream?

American Hustle

If you like Jennifer Lawrence, then you’re about to love her…literally.

During the movie American Hustle, you saw Lawrence, most notably, lip-syncing “Live and Let Die” while she was dusting furniture. However, in case you were too busy on your phone or eating popcorn, she also french-kissed her co-star Amy Adams.

Their kiss wasn’t even planned. Adams just went in for the kill; and, like a true boss, she slayed their lip-lock. If the movie ever needed more s*x appeal, the two ladies made sure to bring the heat. No wonder the movie’s done so well. With Lawrence and Adams combining their talent, they make for one sexy duo on screen. Their chemistry’s both irresistible and undeniable. Move over, Bradley Cooper. You’ve just met your match.

8. Run Away From The Opposite Sex

The Runaways

The revolutionary band The Runaways propelled girl power to the forefront of American rock.

The band mates were pioneers of look and sound in the music industry, but they were pioneers of sexuality too. Their raw risqué outlook on love and s*x made their songs that much more enjoyable. Even the film industry wanted a taste.

Dakota Fanning was hired to play Cherie Currie, the group’s lead vocalist. However, she was also Joan Jett’s (Kristen Stewart) main muse. The two were involved in a passionate love affair, yet all good things came to an end. When the band drifted apart, so did Currie and Jett.

7. ‘Carol’ Will Woo You

Any film with Mara in it is bound to be box-office gold.

However, when you combine the forces of Mara and Cate Blanchett, you’re really in for a treat. The two actresses star in the romance Carol, which is about the sprightly salesclerk Therese (Mara) falling in love with wealthy housewife Carol (Blanchett).

According to the movie’s description, the pair “develop a fast bond that becomes a love with complicated consequences.” You’ll have to watch the movie for their love story’s juicy rise and fall. However, what you should know is how much chemistry Therese and Carol share. Their love’s so strong that they even filmed a three-minute love scene. So, get your Windex ready. Your television screen will fog.

6. One Toy, Two Women

The Kids Are All Right

Julianne Moore is one actress who’s very confident in her sexuality. She’s married to her second husband, and she has two children to boot. However, her heterosexuality only empowers her to express her sexuality in different ways.

While she’s played several lesbian characters, her most notable one is from The Kids Are All Right. As Jules, she was married to Nic (Annette Bening). However, when their kids’ biological father came back into their lives, Jules reconnected with him…and had s*x with him.

Even though the film can be depressing, there are also comedic moments in between fits of crying, rage, and disappointment. In one of the s*x scenes, Jules and Nic are involved in heavy petting. Aside from using their hands and mouths, they’re also bringing a d*ldo into the mix. Not only is the shot sexy, but it’s also tinted with humor. Moore and Bening never disappoint.

5. Love Is Art

Frida

Frida Kahlo, a painter of the early 20th century, was an unapologetic woman who was openly bisexual. Even though she faced ridicule and judgment, her haters only motivated her to pursue her dreams.

A movie was even made about the famous artist, and actress Salma Hayek played her part in Frida. In one scene, Kahlo’s seen dancing with her partner, Tina Modotti (Ashley Judd). They’re dancing in a ballroom with a crowd of people cheering around them.

During their dance, they share a warm embrace…and kiss. The moment was definitely erotic, not to mention special. The movie really captured the tenderness the two women felt and how much they loved each other. Kahlo, even in death, is truly inspiring.

4. Prison Jumpsuits Never Looked So Inviting

Orange Is the New Black

While Orange Is the New Black is more about the interpersonal relationships within the prison, the steamy love scenes between the characters are always a perk.

The relationship between Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) and Alex Vause (Laura Prepon) is twisted. However, their chemistry on screen is just too hot to be denied. Regardless of how bad their cat-fights are, they still seem to come together.

They’re like the lesbian version of Bonnie and Clyde. Their romance is steamy, but their complicated affair is just as appealing. From operating a panties business to getting stuck in a washing machine, the girls have literally done everything there is to do in prison. Well, they still need to get married.

3. An Insanely Talented (And Gorgeous) Journalist

American Horror Story

During American Horror Story’s second season, Sarah Paulson played Lana Winters, a gay journalist who is held captive in an asylum for the mentally ill and criminally insane.

Since homosexuality was seen as a sin, Winters was subjected to brutal torture. From electroshock therapy to conversion therapy, she experienced the horrors of human depravity. She was even raped and beaten.

However, what kept her going was her lover. If Winters was going to reunite with her, then she’d have to escape alive from her surroundings. Unfortunately, their love never rekindles or reconnects. The only thing Winters can hold, touch, or kiss is not her lover, but merely a photo. The amount of pain, loss, and suffering she survives is crazy.

2. The Queen Of ‘Scream Queens’

Scream Queens

As an American Horror Story affiliate, Scream Queens is a must-see.

The television series is basically about three popular preppy students who face instances of paranormal (and criminal) activity. While heterosexuality is usually involved, there are important examples of homosexuality littered throughout the plot too.

In the first season, Jeanna Han played Sam or, as the cast members called her, “Predatory Lez.” Despite her name, she was definitely one of the hotter women on the show. She even dated one of the popular girls (a.k.a. Billie Lourd’s character), so Predatory Lez was totes winning Scream Queens. After all, she got the girl in the end.

As the frat boys continue crying, Han and Lourd continue toasting to their newfound relationship (on screen). Cheers, ladies!

1. Eat Your Heart Out, ‘Twilight’

Jennifer's Body

Since you’ve already read a bit about Jennifer’s Body, you should get the full story.

While Fox is the protagonist who, at the very least, is bisexual, her best friend, “Needy (Amanda Seyfried),” has also played the field. She just never went pro. However, she can still brag to all of her male friends about how she bagged that one weird hot lesbian who used to be…well…human.

When Jennifer broke into Needy’s room, the two kissed passionately. Even though Needy’s scared of what Jennifer has become, she still felt an undeniable connection to her former best friend. Obviously, Jennifer felt the same way. Not only was their french kiss long, but so was their reunion.
