15 Greatest Scenes From Suicide Squad

via:The Telegraph

With so many DC movies having unbelievable endings, as well as mixed opinions and reviews about the plot and character design, it doesn’t come as a surprise that high expectations were in place with the premiere of Suicide Squad. Everyone knew it was going to be big, but the outcome greatly exceeded the expectations of so many. However, there were those that saw the movie as something different. Many people thought the film was very overrated and poor quality. But apart from popular reviews and critics, the movie shined with an intensity that left many speechless.

Now that the movie has been out for quite some time, fans have given it even more praise and love. And with such success, people all over the world are already looking forward to a sequel, which will hopefully be in the making very soon. What makes the movie so great were its unforgettable scenes. Here on this list are the 15 best scenes from Suicide Squad. Hopefully, everyone can agree that these were the best moments that helped us appreciate the acting and performance.

15. Introduction Of The Characters

It can be agreed that at times, the introduction of the characters certainly broke the fourth wall. Not to mention, with each character’s intro, information was given about each character with files coming directly from Amanda Waller. This certainly helped those watching the movie who had no idea about the characters or the pasts that came with them. They were done very well, with the directors and producers putting in quite a few Easter eggs to give the content of each character more depth. Some were easily noticeable by fans while others probably took some research. All in all the introduction definitely did not disappoint. But did the critics really think it was such a success? There were mixed reviews from a lot of people, but with such a huge part of the DC Universe receiving such high expectations, it’s no wonder that the staff working on the movie felt the pressure. Sure, there was going to be a few setbacks, but all together, the intro was amazing.

14. Croc Says He’s Beautiful

After a very emotional scene, the squad is sitting in a bar. They decide to take a break from doing their “good deeds”, even if the world is doomed for destruction. After all, they still need to take a break. Each member of the team takes the time to enjoy their own drinks, each one reflecting their personality and the way that they are, especially everyone’s favorite, Harley Quinn. Not to mention, the process helps to allow El Diablo’s back story to truly be told. He explains that because of his abilities, his family perished. Moving along after that moment, Harley tries to brighten the mood by suggesting that they’re all beautiful on the outside and ugly on the inside, except for the Killer Croc who is clearly stated being ugly on the inside as well as the outside, but he replies saying that he is beautiful through and through. It’s a great joke and certainly adds to the state the movie decides to move in.

13. Boomerang’s Joke

To further on the bar scene, Rick Flag decides to step into the bar and lays his items out in front of him. He decides to explain his entire situation to the squad, considering just moments before the actual purpose of the operation was put out in the open whenever Deadshot found the file and the team read it. After explaining that his girlfriend Dr. June Moone, shares a body with the power witch known as the Enchantress, he tells them that regardless of what has happened he must rescue the woman he loves. He crushes the device used to hold the Suicide Squad under his control, giving them the opportunity to run away. However, everyone apart from Boomerang, who darts out the door, decides to help Rick. But later, after everything has been said and done and the squad is facing the Enchantress, Boomerang shows back up, holding true to his name, that even if he leaves, he always comes back.

12. The Flash

For quite a while, there were rumors that a Justice League member would show up in Suicide Squad, but no one was really sure about who it could be. Of course, there was Batman, who made an appearance and captured Deadshot, bringing him into custody. But no one was prepared for when the Flash decided to show up and save the day, capturing the Boomerang and surprising everyone. What also made him part of a shock factor was the fact that we still do not know a lot about the Flash. Sure there are the comic books and current TV shows which are portraying him, but in this new movie universe of DC characters many different things are changing and audiences everywhere are so eager to see the changes, as well as the commitment to the storyline. The appearance of the Flash was such a secret that quite a few people who were close with the production of the movie didn’t even know he would be showing up until the movie premiered.

11. The Joker Smiles

There are always high expectations for the Joker, whether it was for Jack Nicholson or Heath Ledger, many people admired the work that they did in order to make the character come to life, and they did it very well. But it was time for the world to experience a new Joker. One that would be king of crime and never submit to the forces of good. Jared Leto landed the role of the new crazy clown and he certainly did not disappoint. In the beginning of the movie, we can see him with his famed Harley Quinn as well as many others in a club. He is meeting with another man about a few things and decides to talk for awhile. The man ends up commenting on how beautiful Harley Quinn is which sends the Joker into a crazy spell. In the movie, he possesses tattoos on his hands that when put up to his mouth creates a smile that would make anyone sick to their stomach with the creepy and crazy moment.

10. Incubus Comes Into Being

As it turned out, the main villain in Suicide Squad was the Enchantress. Many people had suspected it for quite some time, but the villain was kept a secret for quite some time. In the beginning of the movie, the Enchantress is under the control of Amanda Waller. However, she breaks free from her control at one point and awakens her brother who has been imprisoned for thousands of years. His name is Incubus and in order for him to exist to the fullest capacity, he needed the correct amount of power. In order to achieve this, Incubus needs souls and lots of them. Because of this, he takes to the subways of the city, sucking the life out of many different innocent humans using his long and creepy tentacles to do so. He then has enough power to reform himself into a powerful giant with a tremendous amount of rage.

9. El Diablo Unleashes His Fury

From very early on in the movie, we learn that Chato Santana, or El Diablo, refuses to use his powers. This is due to the fact that because of his loss of control and anger, he ended up killing his wife and two children. After not being able to come back from such a tragic event, El Diablo swore he would never use his powers for such things again. Throughout the movie, he does a great job by keeping away from his fire abilities until Deadshot provokes him towards the middle of the movie, causing El Diablo to take out three stories worth of bad guys in just one blazing move. It’s a stunning event, but he still doesn’t budge until the end when all of the members are forced to use their abilities to try and stop the Enchantress. Feeling like it is the only way to stop the giant Incubus, El Diablo unleashes his powers, turning himself into a giant fire being who’s height almost matches Incubus.

8. The Joker Asks Harley An Important Question

Throughout the film, a lot of detail is given to the origin story of the Joker and Harley Quinn’s love for each other. They did a very fine job of incorporating some minor details as well as major ones to really bring in every fan of the Joker as well as Harley. But through thick and thin, both of these characters have been toughing it out for each other and the directors of the movie clearly wanted to make that a point for everyone to notice. One of the scenes that really stands out in particular is when the Joker and Harley are standing just above a vat of chemicals, the same green ooze that made the Joker what he is today. He asks Harley if she would die for him. Clearly, without a doubt, Harley says yes, but the Joker thinks this is too easy of a question. So, he asks if she would live for him. She says yes and falls into the chemicals below. At first, the Joker is about to run away, however, unable to resist the urge for the one he loves, he jumps into the chemical vat, pulling her up so she can breathe. Many people believe that these chemicals had a big part to play in Harley’s creation as well.

7. The Enchantress Is Whispered To Life

Possibly one of the absolute best and most goosebump raising scenes was when we got to see the Enchantress transform for the very first time. In the scene Amanda Waller is walking into a meeting with some very important people. She is accompanied by Dr. June Moone who possesses the Enchantress within her. Waller wants to show the group of men at the table exactly what the witch can do. With a look from Amanda, Moone whispers “Enchantress” and out comes the witch. Her dark gray hand phases out of Moone’s and twists around, grabbing her by the wrist. When the camera pans back to her face, the Enchantress is there in all her glory. Most of the men are looking rather nervous as she paces around the room, observing each and every one. It’s one of those scenes that really sends chills down the back of your neck while still keeping you intrigued.

6. Amanda Waller Won’t Back Down

When we first meet Amanda Waller in the movie, she doesn’t seem like a person that would be out in the field doing all of the dirty work. She has a well kept outfit, a professional and clean appearance and definitely knows how to talk with the toughest bad boys in the higher up positions. But when push comes to shove, she really showed us what she was capable of when her plan comes spiraling down to the city streets. The squad is on their way to get her, but before they can reach her, the enemy has already moved in to kidnap her. However, Waller isn’t one to back away from a fight. Even trapped inside the helicopter, she holds her own with a rifle and doesn’t quit. It also doesn’t hurt that Viola Davis was chosen for the role. It can be said without a doubt that she was perfect for the role and showed the right kind of menace as well as the calm, collected demeanor that was required for such a character.

5. Harley’s Secret Desires

Towards the climax of the movie, the squad finally manages to make it to where the Enchantress is finishing up the long lasting spell that will take over the world, placing it in her control. But before they can bring her down, she makes them a deal. If they will bow down before her and disregard the decision to oppose her, she will grant them the realities they desire. Each member of the team desires something very heart felt and satisfying, but the one that hits so close to home and surprises audiences, is Harley’s. When the camera cuts to her reality, she is in a kitchen looking as normal as ever with a child on her hip. As the camera pans, a husband comes into the picture and kisses her, revealing another child as well. The husband is the Joker, looking very normal and obviously a good person, raising two kids with his beautiful wife. It’s so tragic to see that she wants something so normal and something that will obviously never happen for her.

4. Reasoning For The Suicide Squad

Superman's_ceremonial_coffin

Something that a lot of people discussed even before the movie was made was if there would be a crossover involving superman or his “death” in the recent Batman VS Superman movie. And sure enough, it was revealed that Amanda Waller felt as though now that Superman was claimed dead, the world would be under attack by outside forces with no one left to defend the planet. Hence the reason why Suicide Squad had to be made. Superman did indeed crossover into the movie as well, as a small scene is shown with Superman’s coffin being covered with a flag. It’s a touching and slow scene, but it certainly does not take away from what makes the movie. If anything, it completes it and makes the movie much more touching yet sad. And with the ending of the movie, it can certainly be said that a second movie will be coming into action, hopefully very soon.

3. Prisoner’s Rewards

Finally, the Suicide Squad saves the day. After all of their hard work to save the world finally paid off, they thought that they would be free from the clutches of the good guys due to the fact that Rick Flag destroyed the machine designed to kill them if they were to behave in a manner they didn’t like. But Amanda Waller surfaces, alive after all, with the destructive devices still active leaving them still under her control. The members were sent back to prison, but received ten years off of their sentence as well as one thing or item of what they wanted. Harley, who surprised everyone with wanting an espresso machine, is seen reading a romance novel with her pinky high in the air, sipping away. Deadshot got the opportunity to finally see his daughter and help her out with her homework as well as access to all of the letters his daughter had been writing him. And as for Croc, he finally got his TV, so he could watch all of the BET he wanted.

2. Deadshot’s Big Finish

via Moviepilot.com

Many things can be said about Deadshot, and all of them are admirable, awesome and just plain cool. But when it comes to the leader of the team, he is without a doubt at the front. Sure, Harley Quinn can be seen as the leader from time to time because she certainly can hold her own, but when it came to finishing off the Enchantress’ minions, Deadshot came in first place hands down. Just as the entire team feels like it may be too much, Deadshot jumps up on top of a car and starts taking them down one by one, all while switching out between various guns. It isn’t hard to see why so many people love the character, considering he is deemed the man who never misses and that’s absolutely true and evident in everyone one of his shooting scenes apart from the one when he misses on purpose to save Harley Quinn’s life.

1. Mid-Credits Scene

via businessinsider.com

By far, the best scene occurred mid-credits when everyone was expecting there to be something to have mentions to a second movie or at least another plot in the DC Universe. The directors and producers certainly did not disappoint. With the words rolling across the screen, suddenly Waller can be seen, sitting in another low lit room having a nice chat with someone about something that isn’t entirely good. But this time, it isn’t city officials or important people from higher up. It’s none other than Bruce Wayne. Lacking the resources she once had to cover up her current crisis, she knows that the blame or the disaster will certainly be placed on her shoulders, so she seeks Bruce’s help who of course, has resources that can be used to cover up the problem and keep the Suicide Squad on a hush-hush basis. He agrees to do so, especially since it’s highly apparent that Waller somehow knows about Bruce Wayne’s secret and his nightly activities.
