via Red Hot Cha Cha / Daily Mail

There was a time when the world looked at Madonna like she was one of those rare celebrities that seemed to just get even more beautiful with each passing year. When she was first introduced to the world through her rising fame in music and film, she wasn’t exactly the glamour goddess that is expected of A-list females in Hollywood. While her portrayal in the ‘80s flick, Desperately Seeking Susan, was entertaining, her style and cringe-worthy hair wasn’t the epitome of beauty. Yet, things got much better once she became the “Material Girl” and things got even sexier once she fully embraced her blonde bombshell status. Yet, things went downhill pretty quickly and nowadays, she’s known more for her desperate attempts at trying not to appear old. From using straps to hold up her butt cheeks on the red carpet to indulging in some plastic surgery to help puff up her face, Madonna has seemed to try anything and everything to convince the world that she isn’t getting old. When it comes to icons in the music industry, people tend to think of powerhouse singers like Aretha Franklin but tend to overlook some of the other artists that have equally impacted the world of music. Cher is a music artist that hasn’t exactly been known for releasing new music but has obtained icon status through her previous works and her stellar talent in both music and film. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her character portrayal in Moonstruck and she’s released singles that are recognized all over the world. While she’s known for her barely-there ensembles and love of younger men, sometimes her age can be obscured. Yet, her most memorable moment was arguably during the year 1965 when she was singing in the Sonny & Cher duo with the 1965 hit, “I Got You Babe.” She may have done well at hiding her true age but 1965 was a long time ago. At the age of 70-years-old, Cher can definitely be described as officially long in the tooth.

5. Richard Gere

via Belfast Telegraph / Daily Mail

Richard Gere is an actor that is unique in his ability to appear old and young at the same time. While he started his acting career during the 1970s, modern day audiences don’t really think about the days prior him to appearing as the sexy silver fox on the big screen. In fact, Gere was already sporting his silver hair during the 1990 film, Pretty Woman. While he appeared young enough to look great alongside Julia Roberts, he had an aged look due to his silver hair. Yet, fans have been able to look beyond his silver hair and his increasing age. However, it has finally reached a point where fans can no longer deny the fact that Gere has officially become old. At the age of 67-years-old, Gere is pushing on 70 and definitely can’t pull off the same looks as before. His recent film, Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer, showed Gere portraying Norman Oppenheimer. While there was a bit of makeup artistry to get him to appear like the character, the fact that he could transform into such an aged character shows that he is getting up there in age as well.

4. Al Pacino

via Daily Mail / Photosgood

While Al Pacino is thought of as one of the world’s most talented actors, it’s undeniable that he is reaching the age where most regular people would already be retired and living a life filled with only soft foods. At the age of 76-years-old, people seem to forget that the first film in The Godfather series was released in 1972. Pacino has consistently released stellar films since his emergence in the film industry in the late ‘60s and throughout the ‘70s but it is questionable as to how much longer he will continue to work. While actors are usually thrilled to continue working as long as they can delve into passion projects and release good work, there’s no denying the fact that filming a movie can entail grueling hours and a process that can be quite draining. This is especially true for an older actor. Although the world is always looking forward to a new Pacino film, they wouldn’t want it if it means it will be unnecessarily hard on him.

3. Jack Nicholson

via Daily Mail / MetaFilter

Jack Nicholson was first appearing on the big screen in the late ‘50s and ‘60s and has hit films that have become iconic over the years. From Chinatown to One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest to The Shining, it seemed that Nicholson could portray any character he put his mind to on the silver screen. As he aged, the roles continued to come, even though the characters were vastly different from his younger years. While he was able to expertly portray the gangster character in The Departed, it was the characters in Something’s Gotta Give and The Bucket List that were more true to his real-life character in regards to his increasing age. In Something’s Gotta Give, Nicholson’s character had a heart attack while fooling around with a much-younger woman and in The Bucket List, his character went on a journey to fulfill all his lifelong goals before he died. At the age of 70-years-old, Nicholson is definitely far from the fresh-faced actor from the ‘70s. While he journeys on into his 80s, the world may not see many more Jack Nicholson films in the future.

Yet, his success in the film industry isn’t just limited to his acting roles since Eastwood has been ultra successful behind the camera as well. At the age of 86-years-old, Eastwood may not be able to endure the stresses of acting any longer. In fact, his recent role in the limelight has been the fact that he is the father of the latest breakout star, 30-year-old actor Scott Eastwood.

1. Bill Murray

via WRGB / showbiz-news.ru

While the world is definitely aware that Bill Murray was one of the stars in the original Ghostbusters films, it’s easy to forget that he had his first film released in 1979. It’s been quite some time since Murray had the chocolate brown hair from his younger years and he was already starting to show his age during the 2003 film, Lost in Translation. While audiences liked the dynamic between him and Scarlett Johansson, it was more about them as actors rather than relating it to a real-life romance. In actuality, the age difference between these two actors is just too alarming for it be considered acceptable by today’s standards. At the age of 66-years-old, Bill Murray hasn’t been considered a young actor for quite some time. He was highlighted at length during the World Series, and the world got to see that Murray has aged exponentially in regards to his physical appearance.
