15 Celebs Who Would Make Great Presidents

Entertainment

Nowadays, everyone’s eyes (for the last couple of years, at least) have been on the American political stage. What many people deemed to be impossible, having a celebrity figure – because that’s essentially what Donald Trump was before getting elected – in charge of the country, the biggest and most important job on the planet, became reality, and sent shockwaves throughout the world.

It was 2012 when Trump publicly announced that he’d be seeking the Republican presidential nomination; fast forward five years, five years of scandals, numerous bouts of controversy, inappropriate comments, pissing off many influential people, and other countries, and it finally happened folks: a man with no political experience is residing in the White House. Beforehand he was known for The Apprentice, for his property portfolio, his numerous appearances on TV, for flaunting his wealth, and for speaking his mind, which just makes you think, if others were to put their names into the hat, who would actually make it all the way, gain the confidence of the people, and ultimately make a great president?

Bearing in mind being president of the United States isn’t just a popularity contest – Trump can testify to that – which celebs out there would be able to shine once in office, which celebs will be able to get things done, which celebs would be able to rise to the occasion and make America great again – hypothetically speaking of course? Here’s a selection of 15 celebs who would make awesome presidents; just imagine how different things would be and how the country would turn out with these influential celebs at the helm!

15. Oprah Winfrey

Now, if there was one female celeb who’d be perfect to hold a political post of this nature, it’d be Oprah Winfrey. She’s up there in terms of being one of the world’s most powerful women, and being one of the world’s most beloved women too. She’s not the shy and retiring type, won’t take any BS, and she’s tremendously influential, just by being herself and because of all the great causes she’s involved in.

Throughout her many years in the limelight, Oprah has addressed a number of hard issues and is certainly no stranger to the political arena. When Trump got elected, she actually made quite a lot of people excited, saying she was considering entering politics, in a “if he could do it without any experience, so could I” kind of manner; nothing’s really happened on that front, but because of her personal qualities and her personal integrity, she’d no doubt make a success of it if she made the transition.

14. Kris Jenner

I’m sure a lot of you probably scoffed when you read this name. Sure, a lot of people say that Kris Jenner is famous solely for being famous, but if that was the case, this would have been an entry about the most famous Kardashian of them all, Kim. A lot of people get on their family’s backs because of the lives they lead, but they know what works and, incidentally, if you look at things from a business point of view, they’re all mightily successful business people, and none more so than Kris Jenner. Kris, we feel, sometimes doesn’t get the credit she deserves. She’s more than just a reality TV star; at any given point she’s involved in a million and one things, running around doing business deals left, right, and centre, trying to get things done not only for herself, but for her family too. She’s a very shrewd character and one that would be an interesting fit – potentially a great fit – in the White House.

13. Wyclef Jean

Many people deem the legislation that rules you have to be born in the States in order to run for presidency to be utterly ridiculous. So, that pretty much rules Haitian-born rapper, musician, and actor Wyclef Jean out of ever being president, but if that rule was shunned, Wyclef would certainly be up there, first in terms of people who’d want to stand, second, in terms of people who’d get nominated and reach the final stages, third in terms of people who’d have a real chance of getting elected and doing decently when in office too.

Wyclef has been very much into politics and even stood for the Haitian presidential seat back in 2010. He’s a humanitarian, is involved in a ton of philanthropic causes, and dedicates his time to trying to make a difference. On top of his political experience, he’s endured a lot of troublesome times during his career in the limelight, he’s in tight with a lot of influential people and – something that would of course be the most appealing factor of them all – he’d be able mash up his musical skills with his politics like no other president before him!

12. Jesse Ventura

Hard man Jesse Ventura is a bit of a Jack of all trades kind of guy. He achieved fame as a wrestler, but then his popularity skyrocketed when he began getting into movies – does that badass role as a member of the elite special forces team in the iconic sci-fi film Predator ring any bells? Many of you will know Jesse for his time in these two professions, but what a lot of you probably didn’t know, is that Jesse has actually been a politician. For four years he served as the Governor of Minnesota, and he oversaw quite a lot during his time in office too. Property tax reforms, construction works in the state, and cuts in income taxes are just some of the things that happened under his governorship, and he hasn’t faded away from the political scene either. Since leaving office, he’s lectured at universities, written a number of political books, and has hosted political TV shows. It’s obviously something he feels really passionately about and something he’s achieved a quite a bit of success in too. He doesn’t shy away from expressing his views – now and again it’s landed him in a lot of hot water – and would certainly be a strong man to take charge and shake things up in the Oval Office…in a different way to Trump of course.

11. Tom Cruise

From his years being king of the movie industry, we know that Tom Cruise isn’t a guy you mess with. He can get things done, is relentless in his approach, and has handled some pretty big projects during his time as the spy Ethan Hunt, so sorting out America’s health care system, immigration woes, gun violence and other such stuff, would be a piece of cake. What’s more, Tom’s stylish, so he will look good doing it! The image of him in a suit and tie meeting diplomatic leaders around the world, going on important trade missions and what not, getting things done – it just fits. He’s also a highly popular figure so if he ever ran, provided his policies are half decent, he’d certainly get the vote of the people. How he incorporates Scientology into his political dealings and his life in the White House may be a bit iffy, but I’m sure his millions of adoring fans would overlook all that.

10. Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin is one of the finest actors of his generation. He’s achieved fame for his acting prowess, comedy and writing, but as of late, he’s most famous for his Donald Trump impersonations on the series Saturday Night Live. His portrayal of the president has achieved worldwide attention, although I’m sure many people would rather have the Trump impersonator in charge of things than the real thing.

In addition to using his acting abilities and comic timing to get involved in politics, he’s also been very vocal about his political views. He’s endorsed Barack Obama in his previous two presidential campaigns, and is regularly asked to comment on one thing or another in the world of politics. As a comedian, his comments often shock and divide, but there’s no doubting that he’s a highly intelligent man and has a keen interest in politics. He’d make a great president, but it doesn’t look like he’ll be making a go of it any time soon. If he was to actively get involved with politics, it’d be as Governor; he has said he’d prefer to be Governor of New York rather than president, so all you New Yorkers, he could shake things up for you in the future.

9. Clint Eastwood

Clint Eastwood is known for being a man’s man. He personifies masculinity, and people love him for it. It’d be something that holds him in good stead if he was to be president. Nobody would have to fear him shying away from making difficult decisions, he’d certainly be a man that gets things done, an all-American hero type of figure. At the age of 86, let’s be realistic, this is one guy who I can categorically say will not be future president. He’s enjoying his golden years, but because he’s also been very politically active over the years, he still gets a mic shoved in his face so people can get his views on all things politics.

He was once nonpartisan mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea, was appointed to the California State Park and Recreation Commission, and has gotten involved in numerous other political activities during the course of what you could say is a 50 plus year political career. He’s certainly not lacking experience, and is respected by pretty much everyone, even candidates going up against those he’s endorsing. He’s a nice guy, and in this case, you can bet your bottom dollar that if he was to try – and if he was a bit younger – this nice guy wouldn’t be the one who finishes last.

8. George Clooney

George Clooney would make a success of pretty much anything he tries his hand at. He steers clear of controversy, has a calm head on his shoulders, and is loved and respected by the masses. He’s also got the backing of hot shot barrister, his wife, Amal Clooney, who’d no doubt hold a prestigious political position should he come to office.

In terms of politics, well, he’s more into the philanthropic side of things. He has spent a lot of his cash on worthy causes and has dedicated his time to ensuring those stuck in the middle of international crises are helped and aren’t forgotten about.

From the image he portrays, he seems to be just a straight up solid guy; he may not fair too well when it comes to the murky side of politics and political backstabbing and all of that, but at least the people will know that he’s on their side.

7. Robert De Niro

Robert De Niro is just a legend. He’s acting royalty plain and simple. He holds a ton of clout in the industry, and rightly so after essentially bossing it for over half a century. There are only a select few who are on his pedestal, but Bobby, as he’s affectionately known, has to be the best. He’s the guy the media seek out when they want a comment on something or other, because they know he’s not one to shy away from speaking his mind. He supported Barack Obama when he was doing the rounds and campaigning and has been extremely vocal in his criticism of Trump. He’s called him “blatantly stupid” and has said he’d “like to punch him in the face,” and leave the country; we of course hope that doesn’t happen, but there is one way he can stop what he deems to be Trump’s madness: get actively involved in politics! He’s one guy who’d give it his all and who you can tip to go all the way.

6. Morgan Freeman

Not only is Morgan Freeman a mighty fine actor, but throughout his 50 plus years in the industry, he’s become renowned for being one of the most opinionated and outspoken guys around. That’s not necessarily a good thing – Trump’s a fine example of where being outspoken can come back to bite you on the ass – but with Morgan, he’s one of the most beloved actors in the world, so people generally get on board and cut him some slack if they disagree with his views. But there have been times when he’s angered a ton of people; him saying he didn’t consider Barack Obama to be the United States’ first black president because he only had one black parent understandably pissed a lot of people off, but it shows he doesn’t shy away from speaking his mind, which is a must for anyone willing to run for office. If he does anger people, his soothing voice and his charismatic personality will soon diffuse the situation. He would certainly get a lot of people’s votes.

5. Jon Stewart

Comedian, writer, producer, director, actor, media critic, and former television host, is there anything that this man doesn’t do? Well, one thing Jon Stewart doesn’t do and hasn’t done is get actively involved in politics, but those who watched The Daily Show, a satirical news program on Comedy Central, would surely love him to give it a shot. It would be entertaining to say the least.

But Jon’s more than just your average funny man; he’s a very smart guy, and delved into a lot of interesting topics on his show, and a major subject for Jon has always been politics. He’s entertained and grilled a number of high-profile figures on the long-running late-night talk show, and his performances have just made us stop and think, how would he fare if he was on the other side of the table? Lots of people would love to see him put his money where his mouth is, and today he’s got plenty of time on his hands, so why not give it a shot?

4. Dwayne Johnson

This guy is just a monumental figure, in the world – not just in one profession – period. He’s achieved something remarkable in that he’s climbed to the top and has established himself as the best in two highly competitive industries – acting and wrestling. If you don’t know him as The Rock, you’ll surely know him for the blockbusters he keeps churning out, and he’s today regarded to be one of the best and highest-paid actors in the world. He wants to be the best at whatever he does, and so far, the “Man of the Century” has achieved just that.

As far as politics are concerned, Dwayne Johnson hasn’t really been actively involved in the world of politics. Of course, like any other top-tier celebrity, the media’s eager to get his views on certain political matters, and he’s more than happy divulging them. He has also hinted at getting involved in politics: “If I felt like I could be an effective leader for us, and surround myself with really high-quality leaders, then sure, I would.” Since Johnson makes a success of anything he tries his hand at, he’d also probably find a way of rising to the top in the political arena too.

3. Beyoncé

As one of the most influential people on the planet, and one of the greatest female entertainers of all time, if Beyoncé ever ran for office, she’d certainly get people’s votes and make a lot of things happen in the Oval Office, too. She captivates her audiences with her performances and dance moves, mesmerizes them with her voice, and wows them with her beauty, but she’s far more than just a pretty face or an entertainer. She’s a businesswoman and a very successful one at that, a philanthropist, and has a public image that hasn’t really been tarnished throughout her many years in the limelight.

She’s a common face on the politic stage, singing at various rallies, endorsing her preferred candidates. And who wouldn’t want the Queen B, miss Bootylicious, doing her thing and posting pics from the White House with Jay Z by her side? It’d be a mighty entertaining affair, and with those two very shrewd characters at the helm, things would certainly get done.

2. Angelina Jolie

If Beyoncé’s one of the most influential people on the planet, Angelina Jolie has certainly got to be up there too. As an actress, she’s up there as one of the best, if not the best, but over recent years, she’s been in the limelight far for than just for her acting. She’s concentrated a lot of her time on philanthropic causes – she’s a humanitarian through and through, and her efforts have meant she now holds a number of very high-profile positions. She’s making waves in the world of politics, and actually harbors an ambition to become a UN leader.

At the moment, she finds what’s going on in the U.S. to be abhorrent, and hasn’t shied away from letting people know her views. Because of that, and probably due to a number of things that are happening in her personal life, she may move away from U.S. shores and reside in England. There’s an opportunity for her to become a peer in the House of Lords – the second chamber of UK parliament – and she could very well take that up in order to further her political career. She’s going down the route of British politics, but who knows, in the future, she could very well shake things up in the White House too.

1. Arnold Schwarzenegger

I’ve mentioned Dwayne Johnson and his achievements, but one man who’s surpassed even the amazing feats of Dwayne is Arnold Schwarzenegger. Putting Arnie at the top of this list was a no-brainer. He’s reached dizzying height in various professions, and thinks nothing of leaping into something new, trying his hand at something else, and whenever that has happened, he’s made the profession his own and made a huge success of things. It really is just amazing what Arnie’s accomplished, as a bodybuilder, and then as an actor, but also in the world of politics. He was the 38th Governor of California, a position which he held for eight years, and has always said he wanted to climb the political ladder and run for president. Judging by his numerous other successes and his career in politics to date, he’d make a very successful president too.

But, due to that ruling that states you’ve got to be born in the country to run, Arnie as president won’t be happening – at least not anytime soon, until that rule’s changed. And you can bet your bottom dollar that if and when it is, he’ll be the first person to throw his name into the hat!
