13 Celebs Who Tweeted The Most Savage Things (But Got Deleted)

We all make mistakes from time to time, but we’re lucky to not be famous enough to have it come back to bite us in the butt in humiliating and extremely public ways, as most celebrities are. If we tweet or post something on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or wherever, and then think better of it, we can usually delete it without repercussions. Celebrities, on the other hand, aren’t so lucky, and through the miracle of screenshots, their stupidest and most savage of thoughts that are contained to 140 characters can be shared over and over and over again.

Getting into a Twitter feud isn’t unusual for the rich and the famous, but you’d think that by now they would have gotten better at thinking before they tweeted, since loads of the celebs on this list are repeat offenders when it comes to unleashing sheer savagery on social media (looking at you, Rob Kardashian). Unfortunately for them–but fortunately for us–they don’t delete quickly enough, and eagle-eyed fans and critics have been able to capture tweets that probably never should have been posted. If you’re looking for all kinds of shade and savagery, look no further than these 13 tweets!

13. Drake Bell

We all have a few people we were once really good friends with but, through no fault of either person, you simply drifted apart over the years. Perhaps your careers went in different directions, or you began pursuing different interests, or you just eventually realized that you grew up and didn’t have a whole lot in common anymore. It’s a totally normal thing, right?

Well, not according to Drake Bell!

The actor, best known for his role of a decade ago in the TV show Drake & Josh was feeling the sting of not being invited to his former costar’s wedding this past June, sending out tweets that read, “When you’re not invited to the wedding the message is clear…” and “True colors have come out today. Message is loud and clear. Ties officially cut. I’ll miss you brotha.” A bit dramatic, no? Apparently, the wedding in question was an intimate affair, and Bell and Josh Peck hadn’t spoken beyond the occasional tweet in years. Naturally, Bell deleted the tweet shortly after.

12. Calvin Harris

Love her or hate her, Taylor Swift certainly gets people talking, including her ex-boyfriend, Calvin Harris; this time, on Twitter. Back in July 2016, Swift had apparently been hurt by the fact that Harris had previously said it wasn’t likely that the two of them would work together, since it was revealed that Swift had contributed to Harris’ song with Rihanna, “This Is What You Came For,” under a pseudonym.

In a series of since-deleted tweets, Harris came at his ex, slyly subtweeting her with remarks like, “I figure if you’re happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do” and “I know you’re off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I’m not that guy, sorry. I won’t allow it.” After wishing everyone a beautiful day, Harris deleted the tweets that dug at his ex.

11. John Mayer

Taylor Swift has popped up on our list again. But this time, it seems like she was definitely the innocent party. On December 13, 2016, John Mayer decided to get a little petty and posted a less-than-happy birthday wish to his famous ex, tweeting, “Tuesday, December 13 may be the lamest day of the year, conceptually.”

Mayer and Swift dated ages ago, back when Swift was 19, and Mayer ended up being the inspiration behind the song “Dear John.” Upon being interviewed regarding his past with Swift and her artistic take on their relationship, Mayer was more than a little bitter, saying that he didn’t deserve the public jab and that it was a lousy thing for her to do.

Thanks to the power of screenshots, John’s salty ‘Happy Birthday’ greeting to his ex was captured after he deleted it; not that Mayer was ashamed for retracting his remarks! In another deleted apology tweet, Mayer said, “I am 39. I am deleting those tweets. Come right at me for doing so. Absolutely no shade.” Sure, John.

10. Josh Groban

Who would have thought that Josh Groban could be even remotely savage? While the singer didn’t necessarily intend to be mean in his tweet that ridiculed Mariah Carey’s lip-synced New Year’s Eve performance, the damage was done and Mariah fans came at the singer in droves.

In comparison to most of the other tweets on this list, this one is fairly tame, and was really only pointing out the facts. But nonetheless, people thought it was in poor taste and called Groban out. In response to the public outcry, he deleted the tweet and even issued an apology, saying that his tweet was meant to be funny and was not intended to be a mean dig at Carey. He further compounded this view and elaborated, tweeting, “Not out to diss artists.” To be fair, though, Groban was really just saying what we were all thinking, and Carey’s diva attitude makes her ripe for the mocking!

9. Halsey

Usually, when celebrities go off on Twitter, it’s towards a rival, an ex, or at least someone else considered famous. Instead of targeting anyone who would be considered a household name, however, singer Halsey decided to fire off at a critic of her work in a series of deleted tweets!

After a gathering with fans that saw them “cry together” (according to an MTV tweet) over Halsey’s music, Christine Sydelko, one half of a YouTube channel, tweeted, “this is THE WORST.” For whatever reason, Halsey decided to savagely berate the YouTube personality, telling Sydelko to “shut the f*** up,” “gooooo away,” and accusing Sydelko of only hating her because it’s considered “edgy.” All the tweets were subsequently deleted, except for a final one that remains, which reads, “okay I’m done [beating heart emoji] #rude #edgy.” A savage takedown, sure, but one that pales in comparison to the next ones on our list!

8. Naya Rivera

It’s never a good idea to air your grievances with an ex online, but it’s probably even worse when you’re a celebrity with tons of followers keeping track of your every move. Back when Naya Rivera had recently split from rapper Big Sean, she tweeted this, accusing him of stealing from her, since she was the breadwinner of the pair!

The two were engaged at the time, but rumors of Big Sean cheating on Rivera ran rampant, and so Rivera decided that Twitter was the best place to tell everyone exactly how successful her former fiancé was! For his part, Big Sean claimed that the Rolex was his and that Rivera had simply been borrowing it from him, and so he had taken it back. Sure.

Since their split, Big Sean has been involved (and split from) Ariana Grande, while Rivera is currently hooking up with comedian David Spade! While their relationship may be over, tweets–even deleted ones–last forever.

7. Russell Brand

A picture is worth a thousand words, and unfortunately for Katy Perry, this one won’t ever go away, thanks to the power of screenshots. Back in 2011, when Russell Brand was still married to the singer, the British comedian thought it would be a funny thing to ring in the New Year by posting an unflattering, makeup-free photo of the pop star to Twitter. Naturally, Perry was mortified upon seeing what he had done and forced Brand to delete it, but not quickly enough.

While we don’t think Brand’s actions were necessarily meant to be savage, the picture was certainly an invasion of privacy and was posted without Perry’s consent. Plus, when we look at the entirety of their tumultuous relationship–and the fact that the two haven’t spoken since their split following Brand’s sudden request for divorce–we’d say that while savagery may not have been intended, this tweet was definitely shady.

6. Kanye West

Kanye West should probably keep his foot firmly in his mouth and his hands away from a keyboard, because the rapper can’t help but tweet–and delete–almost everything that pops into his head! One of his biggest online feuds involves Wiz Khalifa, who was formerly involved with West’s ex, Amber Rose. Back in 2011, West took aim at Khalifa and Rose in a subtweet that grossly implied that when Khalifa got intimate with Rose, he was tasting everyone who worked in the hip-hop industry.

Later, in a Twitter rant that happened in January 2016, West let loose on his fellow rapper, implying that Rose was a gold-digger who “trapped” Khalifa and that the couple wouldn’t even have had a child if it weren’t for West. (Yeah, that one is weird to us too.) The thing is, this deleted Twitter rage came from a misunderstanding of album naming (West ended up naming his latest album Life of Pablo)! Since then, he’s tweeted and deleted his support for Donald Trump, proving that the rapper should just stay away from social media altogether.

5. Amanda Bynes

Back in 2013, when Amanda Bynes was going off the rails, she decided that Twitter was the best place to air her multiple grievances with people she barely knew. In addition to calling rappers Drake and Jay-Z ugly (while alternating asking the former to “murder [her] v*gina”), Bynes took swings at Rihanna in a way that was cruel and unusual.

Along with calling the singer ugly–which seemed to be her favorite insult as she spiraled further and further down–Bynes brought some racism in there by saying that the pop star was “so ugly tryin to be white” and, in a truly low blow, that “Chris brown beat you because you’re not pretty enough!” Rihanna, naturally understood that to engage with Bynes was to argue with a crazy person, and instead replied, “Ya see what happens when they cancel Intervention?”

Bynes claimed that the tweets were Photoshopped, despite the fact that they appeared on her feed, but she deleted the evidence nonetheless.

4. Rita Ora

Rita Ora is no stranger to embarrassing tweets (remember when she tried to stir up interest in her music by teasing a release if a tweet got 100k retweets and failed miserably?), but she got truly savage when she came at Rob Kardashian following their breakup.

Back in 2012, these two were involved, until Ora allegedly cheated on Kardashian. Kardashian took to Twitter to let loose on his former lover, saying that the singer cheated on him with more than 20 men while they were together. For her part, Ora decided to hit Kardashian where it hurt, tweeting (and then quickly deleting), “Rob’s d**k is wack, I had to go get it somewhere else.” It’s a low blow, but holy crap is that savage! Getting back at an ex is a pretty common thing to do, especially among young people, but with celebrities having such a public platform to air their dirty laundry, sometimes those Twitter fingers work faster than the brains behind them.

3. Rihanna

Rihanna is a queen when it comes to unleashing savagery on Twitter, but she really shocked and appalled everyone when she came at Queen Bey herself. In 2015, after the infamous elevator fight that saw Solange Knowles taking some swings and kicking her brother-in-law Jay-Z while Beyoncé stood by, Rihanna decided to spill some tea by publicly admitting on Twitter that she slept with Bey’s husband (although her wording was a little more NSFW).

Rihanna and Beyoncé have had quite the feud going for a while, and it’s been suspected that Rihanna, when she first began her career as Jay-Z’s protégé, got involved with the hip-hop mogul, and that she might have in fact been the “Becky with the good hair” that was referenced in Beyoncé’s album Lemonade. Naturally, the tweet was deleted almost immediately after it was posted, so we’ll never be QUITE sure of the truth when it comes to this scandal.

2. Kendra Wilkinson

We hate to put Kendra Wilkinson among a list of celebrities, but the former Playboy Playmate and current reality TV star unleashed a stream of savage Twitter call-outs against former costar Holly Madison that it was too good to ignore!

In May 2016, Wilkinson took issue with Madison’s interview with People magazine, as well as her latest book, which recounted all the nasty details of living with Hugh Hefner in the Playboy Mansion. In the deleted and expletive-laden tweets, Wilkinson wrote, “Now Holly is on the cover of People mag sayin she lived in fear at the mansion. She wasn’t in fear with that d*** in her a** for a paycheck. That b**** is in fear now knowing so many of us saw her doing some nasty s***. She’s embarrassed and in shame. She was the clean up girl…Hollys job was to get Hef hard again and clean him up with her mouth.” Pretty savage stuff, no? For her part, Wilkinson deleted the tweets and apologized for going “a little over the top.” We’d say so!

1. Rob Kardashian

This display of savagery first began on Instagram earlier this month, when Rob Kardashian decided to share explicit images his now-ex Blac Chyna had sent him, as well as screenshots of conversations in which Chyna’s other boyfriends were trying to hit Kardashian up for money. In the same inexplicable tirade, Kardashian also claimed that he had footed the bill for Chyna’s surgeries to get her back into pre-baby form following the birth of their daughter, Dream.

Naturally, Instagram shut down the account, and so Kardashian directed his followers to Twitter in order to get even more dirt and the recently-deleted photos of Chyna. Since this explosive fight, Chyna has retained a lawyer and a judge has granted her a restraining order, and she’ll be taking her former baby daddy to court for what constitutes as revenge p***. While this is easily the most savage thing a celebrity has ever done on Twitter, it is also far more serious and heartbreaking than anything else on this list.
