15 Celebs Who Seem To Be Awesome AF Parents

Celebrities, for all the glitz and glamour at their core, are people just like you or I. They may have stunning looks, are known to millions of people, and have means far beyond the regular person, but they have the same biological urges as anyone. As such, many of them have children while existing in the public eye which can be a very difficult road to walk down. First off, having so many people watching for every mistake is a lot of pressure, and the drive to travel for work further complicates things. Those are but two of the possible complications they are likely to face.

Parenting can be a very hard job for anyone. You never know for sure if you are doing the things that will set your children up for the best chance at success and you can only do your best to see that your actions provide them with every opportunity. As such, the vast majority of parents will have moments where they wonder to themselves about the choices they’ve made. By no means does that mean they are bad parents in any way. In fact, it’s quite the contrary since they care enough to reflect on the lives of their kids. Combining the difficulties of having children at all and the complications of doing so while the world is watching, made us realize that those who handle both admirably deserve to be celebrated. That moment of clarity is what inspired us to put together this list of fifteen celebrities that seem to be awesome parents.

In order for someone to be up for consideration for inclusion on this list, they have to be famous and the parent of at least one child. It doesn’t matter what they owe their notoriety to, which means that actors, musicians, politicians, newscasters, or any other profession could possibly qualify. On top of that, the circumstance of them becoming the caregiver to a child is immaterial. Finally, we want to make it abundantly clear that we are strictly relying on public accounts of how they act as parents since we do not know anyone listed here personally.

15. Denise Richards

Denise Richards is a former actress that is known for roles in movies like Starship Troopers, Wild Things, Drop Dead Gorgeous, The World Is Not Enough, and several others. Also well-known for her personal life, she starred in a short-lived “reality” show called Denise Richards: It’s Complicated, which makes sense as things don’t seem to always go smooth for her. Divorced from Charlie Sheen, one of the most controversial actors around, his dramatic lifestyle clearly has had an effect on her. Her ex-husband may have decried her mothering skills on social media in the past, but he also has a long history of insane rants and anger so we put no stock in that. Instead, the fact that Brooke Mueller, another ex of Charlie’s who had kids with him, decided that Denise would be a better mom to her kids than she could be in the past which speaks volumes.

14. Jon Stewart

One of the biggest comedy figures on television for years on end, Jon Stewart took over hosting The Daily Show from Craig Kilborn and turned the show into a juggernaut. A comedian at heart, his role on a pseudo news program led to him informing millions of people that were otherwise ignorant about the day’s events, which made Jon a big deal around the world. Then, after hosting the show for more than fifteen years, he stepped away much to the surprise of many. When speaking about why he made that move, one reason he gave was a desire to spend more time with his kids. On top of that, one of the highlights of his last episode was a footage of him dancing with his daughter and then he chose to host WWE Raw quickly afterward because his son is a big fan.

13. Nicole Richie And Joel Madden

Nicole Richie first became famous for starring in a “reality” show alongside Paris Hilton that showed how the privileged pair struggled to understand the everyday life of regular folks. Joel Madden, on the other hand, was the lead vocalist of a pop punk band called Good Charlotte that mostly came off as irreverent. We’re just going to say it. Not only did they seem like a strange pairing when their romance began and progressed to marriage, but we wouldn’t have predicted they’d make for such adorable parents. The mother and father of two kids, they have spoken in public about their family being everything to them and Joel has opened up about spoiling his daughter in particular. Focused on the well-being of their children and giving them memories they’ll cherish, the family has toured together but also puts a great deal of importance on stability.

12. Candace Cameron Bure

A former child actress that will forever be known for her role in the popular sitcom Full House, Candace Cameron Bure has been famous for the vast majority of her life. Even when her acting career hit the skids to a degree, she managed to stay in the limelight due to the exploits of her husband, hockey player Valeri Bure, and her actor brother, Kirk Cameron. Not content to stay in the shadows, however, she became a big deal again by competing on Dancing with the Stars, co-hosting The View, and returning to the character that started it all for her on Fuller House. A mother of three kids, one of whom competed on The Voice, as her daughter excelled, Candace was there along the way and beamed with total pride which speaks about their strong connection as mother and daughter. If that weren’t enough to earn her a place here, the fact that her child referred to her as both cool and strict is a truly beautiful combination.

11. Sandra Bullock

Undoubtedly one of the most beloved actresses of her generation, Sandra Bullock has been a part of many huge movies like Speed, Gravity, The Blind Side, Crash, and too many more to list here. An Oscar-winning actress in the past, she has proven that she can truly commit to a character. And judging from what we’ve seen, she is giving her all to her role as a mother. The former stepmother to her ex-husband Jesse James’ kids, reports say that she supported them in a big way even after he betrayed her and their marriage. Now the mother to a pair of kids, her quotes about the relationship she has with them are cute enough that they may just bring a tear to your eye.

10. David And Victoria Beckham

David Beckham has to be the most famous soccer star (or football, depending where you are) in the world and his longtime wife, Victoria Beckham, was a part of one of the biggest pop acts of all time. To say they are a couple with an incredible history is about as big of an understatement you could make. Still, if the claims of their son, Brooklyn, are accurate, he was unaware that his folks were a big deal up until he turned thirteen years old. That alone speaks to the idea that they have instilled values in their kids that their financial and career success isn’t of paramount importance. Also seen as a family with an extremely tight bond, in 2013, a British poll had them picked as the top parenting role models of the nation largely for that reason. Despite everything they have done in their lives, if we were them that would be our greatest achievement.

9. Eva Mendes And Ryan Gosling

Ryan Gosling appeared in movies like The Notebook and Lars and the Real Girl, while Eva Mendes was in films like Training Day and Hitch before they came together for The Place Beyond the Pines. Two of the hottest actors of their generation, when they became a couple, everyone recognized that the genes they could pass on to any potential children would be incredible. Also, a pair of people that their peers speak very highly of and come off as lovable during interviews, it truly seems like they have a magnificent relationship. From what we can tell from public statements Ryan has made since the birth of their kids, it is beyond abundantly clear that he sees his wife as a fantastic mother. Eva, for her part, also has nothing but glowing things to say about the fathering skills of her husband. It certainly seems like those kids hit the jackpot in our opinion.

8. Jessica Alba

An actress that became a star in the early 2000’s, Jessica Alba has been a part of big movies like Sin City, Into the Blue, and Machete, on top of franchises like Fantastic Four and Spy Kids. Seemingly, not one to rest on her laurels, she went on to co-found The Honest Company which is meant to be a brand focused on creating products for families that prefer to avoid certain chemicals. Turns out, this career move was inspired by the birth of her first child, her own history of child illness, and a desire to do everything in her power to ensure her kids don’t have to struggle health-wise. Of course, any parent worth their salt would want to keep their kids fit, but who among us would move mountains and create a major business for that purpose?

7. Titus O’Neil

Probably the least famous person on this list, Titus O’Neil is still known to millions of wrestling fans around the world. A competitor for the WWE since he signed with them in the year 2009, his massive personality is often the focus of storylines. On top of that, he is a former WWE Tag Team Champion. A business that demands performers to spend much of their time on the road, there is a long history of broken families that have been left in its wake. That doesn’t apply to Titus, however, as evidenced by the fact that he was named the Celebrity Dad of the Year by Everything for Dads in 2015. Competing against the likes of Ashton Kutcher, Vin Diesel, and Stephen Amell, to name a few, he won out due to his endless efforts to play a positive part in the lives of his sons. Also a sensitive father, the big bruiser has expressed his view that strong father figures shouldn’t be afraid to cry in front of the young ones they help raise.

6. Jennifer Garner

An actress that is known for her parts in the show Alias and movies like Daredevil, Catch Me if You Can, Elektra, Juno, The Invention of Lying, and many more, Jennifer Garner seems destined to be a big star. Also famous for her marriage to Ben Affleck, a gigantic actor in his own right, they would go on to have three kids prior to ending their relationship in 2017. We all know that a lot of people who were longtime partners and then separate, end up with a great deal of anger between them and we have no way to know in that animus exists between them. However, it is very clear that Ben still loves at least one aspect of his ex-wife, the way she raises their children, since he has called her the “world’s greatest mom.” He isn’t the only one that feels that way either as she was voted the Celebrity Mother of the Year in a poll put out by Today’s Parent Magazine too.

5. Katie Holmes

Someone that stole the hearts of millions with her work on the show Dawson’s Creek, Katie Holmes also appeared in movies like Batman Begins, The Ice Storm, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, and many more. Still, it is hard to argue that her acting career hasn’t been eclipsed in the minds of many by her multiple-year marriages to Tom Cruise, one of the most famous actors in the history of the planet.

Divorced from the Scientologist in 2012, since they dissolved their relationship, she appears to spend most of her time taking great care of her daughter. Being the child of a megastar like Tom would be a hard task. But from all reports, Katie puts a lot of effort into bringing her up in as normal a fashion as possible. As a result, it seems as though she has brought up a well-adjusted young woman which is a herculean feat given the situation Katie found herself in, and we applaud her for it.

4. Rick Moranis

An absolute comedy legend, Rick Moranis played a pivotal part in one of the best comedy TV shows of all time, SCTV. Of course, he owes the lion’s share of his fame to movies, including Spaceballs, Strange Brew, Little Shop of Horrors, Parenthood, and the Ghostbusters and Honey I Shrunk the Kids franchises. Then, his wife died of cancer and he spent less and less time focusing on his career. Appearing in only five films since the year 1995, including three he strictly provided a voice to, he has largely taken a hiatus from the business in order to focus on raising his children. Walking away from a very lucrative career when he could have easily afforded to have his kids watched by others, shows that he cares far more about his family which seems very rare in show business.

3. Barack And Michelle Obama

There is absolutely no doubt about the fact that nobody else on this list comes close to how famous Barack Obama is, nor has anyone else here dealt with the sheer level of stress that being the President of the United States of America forced him to live with day in and day out for eight years. That is why it is so impressive that time and time again, he made decisions that proved how important the needs of his daughters were to him while he was one of the most powerful people alive.

On top of that, after he left office, he and his wife, Michelle, who also has shown time and time again how much she cares about her kids, opted to stay in Washington to be close to their kids’ school. Judging by the lengthy vacation they took after he stopped being President, it seems obvious that they wanted to escape the scene but he wasn’t about to put his needs above his kids. If you have question whether these two belong here, just look at that picture. Showing off that level of intimacy with their teen kids while in a public forum no less, is truly awe-inspiring.

2. Michelle Williams

Yet another former cast member of Dawson’s Creek, Michelle Williams is even more accomplished in the movie scene. Known for films like Brokeback Mountain, Blue Valentine, My Week with Marilyn, and so many more, she has been nominated for a lot of awards and been in several hit films too. The ex-wife of Heath Ledger, the pair had a daughter who was left without a father when he suddenly passed in 2008. Since then, it has fallen on Michelle’s shoulders alone to raise her, and from what we can tell, she is totally killing it. Judging by the fact that her eleven-year-old reportedly wrote in her Mother’s Day Card, “Dear Mom, thanks for letting me be me,” to us, it seems like she feels wholly supported.

1. Neil Patrick Harris

An actor that spent years known for his lead role in the show Doogie Howser, M.D., during that period, if you talked about Neil Patrick Harris, most people probably would have no idea who that was. Then, he underwent a career renaissance after playing himself in the Harold & Kumar films on top of playing the most talked-about character from the show How I Met Your Mother. Married since 2014, Neil and his husband are the parents of a pair of twins. And judging from their social media, they seem like the closest knit family out there who also appear to always be having fun.

Of course, it isn’t great to spoil your kids. Caught walking with his kids on a New York street one morning, when his son had a meltdown, Neil was photographed seemingly raising his voice and forcing his son to walk alongside him. While some focused on this event like it was evidence that he was a bad father, RadarOnline even claimed he turned into a “daddy from hell,” but we feel quite the opposite. If you have kids and you haven’t gotten angry with them and perhaps even yelled a little bit too much, then that seems unimaginable to us. The fact that he is clearly capable of discipline and doesn’t allow his children to misbehave while also spending a lot of very happy time with them, seems like the perfect balance to us.
