15 Celebs Who Aren’t As Great As They Think They Are

In the early 1990’s throughout the turn of the century, to be considered a celebrity was still something of a rarity, or at least it was a hard-earned position. In the last decade, however, partly from the contribution of reality television, being considered a ‘celebrity’ in our era has become something of a banality. From the spark of these reality stars, the music industry (particularly the rap genre) received somewhat of a makeover as well, and from this grew another breed of ‘celebrity’. Combine the two fields and what you might find are an overwhelming amount of celebrities (we use the term lightly) who think they are ‘all that and a bag of potato chips’. What we have laid out before you is a list of some of the worst offenders: the worst celebrities who have arrogance in spades.

Is there any characteristic more unattractive than being conceited? We think that we can all find an agreement that one of the best qualities of any individual, let alone a celebrity, is that of humility and modesty. It has become all too common to hear from celebrities who are just a bit too profane and egregious in terms of their fame, and all too commonly tied with this aggression is the notion that they are cooler than us and all other celebrities as well. Surely someone who has made these claims for themselves, or at least appears to be under that assumption, would have contributed quite a large amount to society? Actually, no, in most cases they have done absolutely nothing of the sort. As we peruse these incessantly gluttonous characters, we encourage you to try and put yourselves in their situation and see if you can justify their outlandish behavior.

15. Amber Rose

By all accounts, Amber Rose thinks herself one of the ‘baddest’ divas in the game today, and when it comes to her looks she may have a point. However, she has proven quite conceited, not only in her behavior but in her provocative and downright inappropriate pictures. After her popular relationship with Philadelphia rapper Wiz Khalifa, in which she had a son, you’d think that Amber Rose would find it in her heart to grow up and try and set a good example. Since her departure with her baby daddy, she has popped back into headlines with rumors circulating about her and rapper 21 Savage. Amber Rose reeks of a celebrity personality that thinks far more of herself than most of us actually perceive her to be.

14. Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato has been turning heads ever since she emerged on the scene, and for a good reason, she’s downright gorgeous. With all the success and fame that has trailed Demi, there were certainly several ways she could have played it. From deleted tweets and two-month long relationships, Demi Lovato has led a career that has had its ups and downs, including deleting her Twitter account and entering rehab. Demi Lovato has definitely had her moments of humility and well-deserved fame, but we think she could have carved out her career in a more humble and less provocative way. In a conversation including stars who think they’re cooler than they really are, Demi Lovato might not be the first person you think of, but she definitely belongs in the group.

13. Katy Perry

Katy Perry has recently had some mid-life crisis moments that we have been graciously waiting for for quite some time. Katy’s fall from grace came at a much needed time: she has been awarded quite a bit of fame and success in her career, and we think it’s appropriate to humble every celebrity, so Katy was no exception. Her conceded nature has led to quite a bit of controversy, from jokes about then-President Barack Obama, to homophobic slurs in a music video with rapper star Migos, Katy Perry has certainly needed some humility as of late. When we were compiling our article of celebrities who think far too highly of themselves, Katy Perry fit the mold perfectly.

12. Justin Beiber

It shouldn’t surprise you one bit that landing on this list is the American phenom, Justin Bieber. In his defense, we would be hard-pressed to find anyone in this country who would handle the successes he’s earned with anything close to dignity, but we feel even Justin is pushing some boundaries. From his various personas and phases, Bieber has gone from cute and cuddly to a wannabe rapper with a bandana. Certainly, Justin’s public relations manager must have their head spinning, and they probably receive a hefty check each week to juggle Justin’s constant performances. His public breakups and the songs he’s made about such relationships have for obvious reasons been well documented, but Justin could have played his entire career much cooler than he chose too, and for that, we chose him for our list.

11. Selena Gomez

After her highly publicized fling with superstar Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez probably received a little too much notoriety from such an affair. Due to the constant eye from the public and paparazzi, Gomez got a little too ‘big for her britches’. She paved the way for her own career, successful in acting and belting out tunes that the country fell in love with, so by all accounts she should consider herself pretty popular; but not this popular. Selena Gomez has since started boasting around a bit too much for our liking, and she has started making a documentary about her battle with lupus, an inflammatory disease caused when the immune system attacks its own tissues. Selena Gomez needs to pump the brakes just a bit when it comes to her career, more often than not less is more in this industry.

10. Ariana Grande

Ever since her relationship with superstar rapper Big Sean, Ariana Grande has shown a ‘spike’ in her ego to say the least. She has an incredible singing voice, and during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s show she showcased her talents in front of the world. What was interesting about her performance was the vocal range she was able to reach, but something just didn’t rub us right about how confident she was; albeit she had every right to be. There’s something to be said about a celebrity that knows they’re incredible, but does everything they can to remain humble. Ariana Grande is not one of those celebrities, not in the slightest, she is young and gives off the impression that she is truly genuine in her media prowess, but she has a lot to learn if she’s going to make it through the media frenzy that awaits her.

9. Kaley Cuoco

When Kaley Cuoco looks in the mirror, she has every reason to think highly of herself. She’s a perfect demonstration of what a blonde bombshell is supposed to look like. If there’s one thing she’s also full of, it’s herself. There’s nothing more unattractive than an otherwise perfect girl who thinks she’s all that, and Kaley Cuoco has this in spades. Perhaps we’re being a bit unfair to poor Kaley, the role that got her famous in The Big Bang Theory is a ditzy blonde whose only purpose in the show is to add comedic value and to be the greatest source of eye candy us viewers have seen in a long time. The by-product of playing such a role is understandably a negative one; she fits the stereotype perfectly so it was only natural she landed on our list.

8. Bella Thorne

You could have quite the challenge on your hands if you were tasked with finding any celebrity who is more provocative and controversial than up-and-coming star Bella Thorne. She has handled her rise to fame much differently than others who have made it the way Bella has, and we’re not sure whether that makes her unique or just rude. She legitimately doesn’t care what the public thinks about her, and we think that’s honorable in a society of superficial stars, but we also think that she gives off the ‘screw you’ vibe just a bit too much. It’s great that she’s herself and doesn’t mind what we think, but there is certainly a fine line between being indifferent to public opinion, and being downright callous.

7. Dog The Bounty Hunter

When one thinks of stars or celebrities who think quite fond of themselves, Dog the Bounty Hunter has to be one of the first thoughts that come to mind. If you have ever tuned into his hit television show on A&E, it wouldn’t take long to realize just how into himself he really is. His unique and bizarre television show depicts him going after criminals in his home state of Hawaii; his animated charismatic personality makes it hard to not at least respect him, but his unorthodox approach to crime certainly leaves plenty to be desired. His persona is a mixture of insane egotism and self-esteem, coupled with a Napoleonic complex second to none. Of all the celebrities we have included in this article, Dog The Bounty Hunter is certainly one of the worst.

6. Miley Cyrus

Countless times we have seen the sons and daughters of successful celebrities crash and burn, and when we mention former Disney stars the immediate image you should see is of a dumpster fire. Miley Cyrus embodies these two stereotypes perfectly, in fact, she probably even tests those limits. She has made a public fool of herself, started drama with some of the biggest stars in the game (Nicki Minaj), and spiraled in and out of the good graces of the public. Miley Cyrus, for reasons still unknown, has remained in the spotlight and currently hosts the humongous television hit The Voice. When one thinks about stars whose egos are far too large for their reality, Miley Cyrus has to fit the bill.

5. Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey catapulted into popularity seemingly overnight, she was everything the country wanted in a woman fighter, she was beautiful, polarizing, and an awesome fighter. As her career grew before our eyes, it seemed Rousey was absolutely unbeatable. She dominated every fight night in what amounted to a mere matter of seconds. Everything changed when she lined up to fight Holly Holm, who ultimately handed Rousey her first defeat, when she started to display downright arrogance with her displays of affection. She then handled her loss very badly, at one point claiming she wanted to commit suicide. Ronda Rousey proved to be one of the sorest losers of all time, and we believe this came from her self-image of infallibility. Before her loss, Ronda Rousey was considered one of the best female fighters ever, but sadly she will only be remembered for how horrifically she handled her losses.

4. Drake

The former Degrassi actor has enjoyed some of the greatest leaps to fame in recent memory, and subsequently, his ego has grown to epic proportions. Whether or not this inflated ego is justified or not is beside the point, Drake thinks so highly of himself, all you have to do is listen to one of his songs to hear how he views himself. We could have made a list of the most egotistical celebrities and had the entirety of the article only include rappers, but Drake is by far the worst of them all. We’d be hard-pressed to find any rapper who doesn’t gloat about themselves during their songs, but Drake has taken this to another level.

3. Rihanna

Widely considered the ‘gold standard’ in terms of females in the singing industry, Rihanna could double as a model of epic proportions. With all the fame and fortune Rihanna has enjoyed, it is perfectly understandable that she has had a ‘boost’ of sorts in her personal image. She is rowdy courtside at NBA games, she can be very ‘snobby’ to fans when she is spotted out and about, and she knows just how amazing a celebrity she is. This makes her a tad unlikeable. It’s hard to feel any empathy whatsoever for any celebrity, not just Rihanna, who thinks they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. Rihanna, by all accounts, might not jump out as a greedy and snobbish celebrity, but the proof is in the pudding, anyone who looks at her career with a fine tooth comb is certainly going to see where we are coming from.

2. Iggy Azalea

Iggy Azalea is widely known for her curvaceous physique (among other things), and her rapping career is largely seen as just a title for her celebrity persona to take form in. She has what has been talked about as the best rear-end in the game, and her ego is certainly rivalling this notion as the second biggest item in her arsenal. After several public breakups, followed by even more public hook-ups, Iggy Azalea reminds us more of a high school cheerleader dancing around with multiple boyfriends than an up-and-coming female rapper from Australia. In an article discussing the most egregious celebrities who think far too highly of themselves, Iggy Azalea is one of the first females who comes to mind.

1. Tom Cruise

Anyone who has ties directly to the religious cult Scientology is someone who is justifiably watched with a magnifying glass. Granted, we were already watching Tom Cruise closely before we found out. Tom Cruise is by all accounts a serious jerk, and we believe his cultish religion is to blame. The very nature of his religion is superiority to non-believers, and deals primarily with money. So it’s not hard to see how those two characteristics lead to a superiority complex. From stiffing fans and not signing autographs, to only accepting movie roles in which he’s the main protagonist, Tom Cruise has created an image of infallibility. Of course, this is an image in which his personality directly contradicts. Tom Cruise has a seat reserved in this category as far as we’re concerned, and he certainly fits the bill.
