Getting dumped is hard. However, it is probably even harder when the person who dumped you goes on to be a famous celebrity. Plus, these people had to endure nasty, public breakups on top of that, which was likely humiliating.

Many people will say that fame and fortune will change a person, and in the case of these celebrities, they may have been right. Fame will often inflate a person’s ego beyond what their significant others could have ever imagined, and with fortune comes access to anything these celebrities could ever want. Whether they like it or not, their lives significantly changed and at the end of the day, fame was to blame for the end of these relationships.

Once these celebrities got a taste of the life they could live, they were never going back, even if that meant leaving their less famous partners behind. After they left their loser partners in the dust, these celebrities went on to bigger and better things.

It may have been the right choice, as most of these famous hotshots have had super successful careers while their not-so-famous loved ones were possibly slowing them down in the past. In some cases, their partners were in the entertainment industry too but were not as well-known as the other. It can be difficult to keep up with the fast-paced life of the rich and famous. Check out these 15 celebrities who kicked their significant others to the curb as soon as they made it big time in Hollywood.

Zayn Malik

Zayn Malik made it big time after winning the British singing competition, X Factor, and forming the hit-making pop boy band One Direction. He famously dated Perrie Edwards, of the girl band Little Mix, during his rise to stardom. Perrie claimed that the singer broke up with her via text after four years of dating, which he later denied. She sought revenge by releasing a song with her band called "Shout Out To My Ex."

Zayn upgraded and began dating celebrity supermodel Gigi Hadid shortly after their split. The pair is now one of the most beloved celebrity couples in Hollywood. Although the pair has been on the brink of a breakup a few times, they have remained strong and continue to date to this day.

Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj has made a huge name for herself as one of the best female rappers in the game, but the artist has always kept tight-lipped about her personal life. Many of her fans did not even know she had been in a serious, long-term relationship with a man named Safaree Samuels for twelve years.

After Nicki broke up with Safaree, he lashed out saying that he had helped her write her hit songs and that they were supposed to have had children together. He even blamed the split on the rapper Meek Mill, who Minaj would go on to date. Safaree is now one of the main cast members of the reality series Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood. Nicki Minaj is more successful than she has ever been, selling out records and world tours across the globe.

 Tyga

Tyga and Blac Chyna started dating after she starred in his music video for his hit song "Rack City." The two had a son together, King Cairo, and Tyga even proposed to her. However, once the rapper started getting attention from A-list celebrities, he threw Chyna to the curb.

Tyga began dating Kylie Jenner almost immediately after dumping Blac Chyna, who was close friends with Kylie's half-sister Kim Kardashian. Kylie Jenner was only 17 at the time the rapper broke up with his baby mama, but the pair did not make their relationship official to the public until she turned 18. The two dated for a few years and recently broke things off a few months ago. Kylie is now reportedly dating another rapper by the name of Travis Scott. Meanwhile, Tyga’s rapping career seems to be flailing.

Kendra Wilkinson

Kendra Wilkinson became well-known when she starred on the controversial reality show, Girls Next Door, which followed three young blonde women who were all dating the elderly founder of Playboy magazine, Hugh Hefner. After the girls started to gain notoriety for being on the reality show, they eventually left the Playboy mansion to pursue their own careers.

Kendra dumped Hef and started dating NFL player, Hank Baskett. Kendra later admitted to cheating on Hugh with other men while they were dating by checking into hotels. She met Hank while she was still living in the mansion. The two eventually ended up getting married, having a kid, and landing their own reality television series called Kendra On Top. However, her picture-perfect life didn't last for long. Her husband was exposed for cheating on her with a transgender model.

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian was already famous from her notorious s*x tape with Ray J and her family's reality series, Keeping Up With The Kardashians when she began dating NBA star, Kris Humphries. The pair even got married on a special episode of the reality series. However, as most people probably already know, the marriage only lasted a whopping 72 days.

Kim dumped Kris, claiming that she had made a mistake and that she was not happy with their relationship. It was not long before Kardashian began dating the rapper, Kanye West. The reality star's fame rose to a height she may not have even known was possible. Today, she is one of the most followed celebrities in the entire world. Her family's reality series is going on its 14th season. Meanwhile, Kris Humphries' fame was short-lived and dwindled following the divorce.

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra is an Indian actress who made it big in America in the hit crime drama series, Quantico. She also starred in the new Baywatch remake last year. However, Chopra gained notoriety in India long before that, having earned the Miss World title in 2000. After she won the beauty pageant, she reportedly broke up with her boyfriend, Aseem Merchant, with whom she had a seemingly happy relationship.

Although she likely broke his heart after dumping him out of the blue, that did not stop Merchant from coming to her rescue in 2015 after someone she had previously worked with attempted to distort her image to the public with a biopic film. Merchant defended her, saying she was one of the “nicest” girls he had ever known.

Chris Pratt

Chris Pratt and Anna Faris recently announced their split, shocking the world. The seemingly happy couple has been having some difficulties behind closed doors.

Chris Pratt began his career with television roles on shows like Parks and Recreation, but has made it to the big league over the past few years, starring in huge films like the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. On the other hand, Anna Faris became well-known for starring in films like Scary Movie 4 and The House Bunny, but later found herself working in television on lesser-known shows like Mom. It seemed like while Pratt's career was taking off, Faris' was slowing down. They have a son together and have only announced a separation so far, so reconciliation is still possible for the couple.

Mila Kunis

Mila Kunis started working on That 70s Show when she was just a young teenager. She dated her costar Danny Masterson for a while. However, once she started getting more and more attention, she was cast in some major films and eventually dumped Masterson. She dated around a bit and was in a pretty serious relationship with Macaulay Culkin.

Kunis eventually settled down with another co-star from That 70s Show who made it pretty big as well. Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are now married with a child of their own. The couple often jokes about their relationship when they were younger, saying they could not stand each other on the set of That 70s Show.

Olivia Wilde

Olivia Wilde got married at the young age of 19 to an Italian prince and filmmaker by the name of Tao Ruspoli. The couple was married for eight years but decided to call it quits in 2011 after citing "irreconcilable differences." Wilde later said that she needed to find herself and grow on her own. She got her big break playing Quorra in Tron: Legacy and has starred in a number of box office hits since.

The actress had a few brief romances with Bradley Cooper and Justin Timberlake, although she described dating as a “painful” experience. Wilde later said that getting married so early in life "stunted her growth." She is now married to a fellow actor, Jason Sudeikis, and the two have a son together.

Megan Fox

Megan Fox began her acting career with roles in films like Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s Holiday in the Sun and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. She began dating one of the stars of the hit family series, 7th Heaven, David Gallagher. The actor brought her to fun parties in Hollywood and sports games, and he also introduced her to people in the industry.

After landing her first big movie gig, she dumped Gallagher. Megan became a huge star very quickly and was well-known for her strikingly attractive appearance and starred in popular movies like Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Fox began dating Beverly Hills 90210 star, Brian Austin Green. The two later got married and have a son together, so it all worked out for Fox.

Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington broke up with her fiancé of three years, David Moscow, just before her career really took off. It was even rumored that she had an affair with comedian Chris Rock. She later admitted to dropping him in order to find herself, but she apparently found fame as well. Washington became well-known for her roles in award-winning films like Ray and The Last King of Scotland. She is now recognized for her role in the hit drama series, Scandal.

Kerry is now married to the former 49ers cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha. The two wed in secret in June of 2013. The couple recently welcomed their second child in 2016. Washington is arguably one of the most recognized and accomplished African American actresses in Hollywood.

Zoe Saldana

Zoe Saldana dumped her long-time love and fiancé Keith Britton just after filming a variety of big-budget box office hits like Avatar, Vantage Point, and Columbiana. The two were in a relationship for eleven years prior to their split in 2011. Saldana had even said she wanted to have children with Britton but that he "wasn't ready" at the time.

After their split, the actress moved on and dated Bradley Cooper for a while. Just months after splitting from him, she married Marco Perego. Although she was questioned about the sudden decision, she said that she "met [her] partner when [she] was in a really beautiful place in [her] life."

Jennifer Hudson

Jennifer Hudson began dating the professional wrestler and Harvard law school graduate, David Ortega in 2008 after she achieved fame and fortune. However, she previously dated a man named James Peyton for many years before she was a star on American Idol and landed starring roles in films like Dream Girls. She dumped him just before beginning her new relationship with Ortega, who she is now engaged to.

Hudson has remained firm in her stance that her newfound fame had nothing to do with the end of their eight-year relationship, citing that their “issues” had nothing to do with that. Although, she did admit that she was the one who broke up with Peyton. She later said that it is "difficult" to maintain "any type of relationship" with the kind of lifestyle she leads.

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez was actually married three times. Before she got hitched to Cris Judd in 2001 and way before she married Marc Anthony in 2004, the singer was married to Ojani Noa, a model, bodyguard, and trainer. Noa made headlines in 2015 when he threatened to release an alleged s*x tape of the two of them online from when they were married. The singer’s mother has even referred to her ex-husband as a “gold digger” but he claimed he had never been after her money.

Lopez, also known as "Jenny From The Block," was starting to amass a huge following and it wasn't long until she was a big star. Shortly after her divorce, Jennifer started dating the music mogul, P. Diddy, who really boosted her career.

Freida Pinto

Freida Pinto, famous Indian actress who jumped onto the Hollywood scene after her role in Slumdog Millionaire earned her critical praise, actually used to have a very serious partner before she became successful. She was actually dating Rohan Antao, and many believe that they were actually engaged.

Antao claims that she simply ghosted him once her huge stardom set in, and he was utterly shocked. It just goes to show that even what some believe is "true love" can be negatively affected by fame and fortune.
