15 Celebrities You Didn’t Know Have Twin Siblings

Twins… there’s just something fascinating about them. It never ceases to amaze us when someone says they have a twin. There’s just something about seeing two of the same person that bewilders us. So imagine the surprise I felt when I found out that some of the most well-known names and celebrities from Hollywood and beyond actually have twin siblings! Knowing this, I decided to put together a list of fifteen celebrities who have either fraternal or identical twin siblings. You’ll be surprised to find that some of these twin celebrities actually work together in the same industry, and then there are those who decide to dabble in different careers altogether.

For instance, did you know that global box-office sensation Scarlett Johansson has a twin brother? How about the Fast & Furious action star, Vin Diesel? And was that really Shawn Ashmore you saw in all those X-Men movies as Iceman… or was it actually his twin brother Aaron Ashmore? What happened on Jimmy Kimmel Live when Rami Malek revealed that he had a twin brother… who was also in attendance, in the studio? Check out this list to find out. Also, which of these twin reveals surprised you the most?

15. Ashton Kutcher / Michael Kutcher

Bet you never guessed that Ashton Kutcher – star of That 70s Show, producer of the MTV hit prank show Punk’d, and at one time the man with the most Twitter followers in the entire world – has a twin brother! That’s right; Michael Kutcher, Ashton’s fraternal twin brother, lives in the Kutcher homestate of Iowa with his family.

There’s an inspiring story behind the bond of the Kutcher brothers. Michael Kutcher developed cerebral palsy and cardiomyopathy when he was a teenager, requiring him to undergo treatment and a heart transplant. That’s why before landing his breakthrough role on That 70s Show, Ashton Kutcher studied biochemical engineering at the University Of Iowa with the hopes that one day he could help find a cure for his twin brother’s heart condition. The good news is, Michael Kutcher now serves as a spokesperson for Reaching For The Stars – an organization that focuses on and advocates for children with cerebral palsy. And when he’s not doing that, Michael works as a motivational speaker for those dealing with similar issues, and has even traveled to Washington DC to secure more funding in the battle against cerebral palsy.

14. Jon Heder / Dan Heder

As if one Napoleon Dynamite wasn’t enough to create a lifetime’s worth of shenanigans, we now learn that there’s two of them! Jon Heder – the actor best known for playing the dopey yet iconic Napoleon Dynamite, a stoner teen pop-culture staple of the 2000s – has an identical twin brother named Dan. In fact, both Dan and Jon Heder are partners in a production company that they run together. Talk about that special bond between twins, right? Here’s the interesting bit. Back in 2009, in an interview on the Late Show With David Letterman, Jon Heder admitted that when they were kids, he and his twin brother Dan would get into lots of trouble for pretending to be the other.

As for the present, Jon continues to pursue on-screen roles while his brother Dan works behind the scenes in visual effects and animation, most notably for the Keanu Reeves samurai film, 47 Ronin. In fact, back in 2006 both Jon and Dan Heder actually worked together on the Dreamworks animated movie, Monster House. Jon was the voice for the character Reginald “Skull” Skulinski, and Dan worked behind the bright studio lights as one of the animators on the film itself. Monster House went on to receive an Oscar nomination later that year.

13. Scarlett Johansson / Hunter Johansson

Now I know what you’re thinking; the only thing that could be better than one Scarlett Johansson is two Scarlett Johanssons, right? Well technically, Scarlett having a twin would make that a possibility, but since her twin sibling happens to be her brother, you can calm down from your state of pure euphoria. That’s right, one of the most popular actors in the world, Scarlett Johansson – who plays Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow in the Avengers series as well as a bevy of other highly-acclaimed roles – has a twin brother named Hunter Johansson. He was born three minutes after the leading actor and you’ve probably seen him accompanying his sister to major industry events… if you keep track of that sort of thing. Scarlett even brought Hunter along as her date to the Golden Globes ceremony back in 2005.

But this isn’t a case of one sibling overshadowing the other though. Hunter Johansson has a fondness for politics and while Scarlett is an outspoken supporter of President Barack Obama, her brother Hunter actually served as a campaign adviser for the former president back in 2008. Talk about noteworthy careers in the family!

12. Kiefer Sutherland / Rachel Sutherland

The art of showbusiness really seems to run strong in the Sutherland family. While Donald Sutherland is a powerhouse actor whose career spans all the way back to 1962, reaching heights back in the 70s and 80s with a slew of major blockbusters, and recently resurfaced in the upper echelons of pop-culture when he portrayed the tyrannical President Snow in the blockbuster Hunger Games saga, it was his son Kiefer Sutherland who brought the most fame to the family name by starring in 90s cult classics like Flatliners and then dominating the TV spectrum with hit shows like 24. However, there’s another Sutherland who works in the same field of all things entertainment, and that’s Rachel Sutherland – Kiefer’s younger twin sister!

Born seven minutes after her brother Kiefer, Rachel doesn’t seem to have an affinity for the limelight like her father and brother. Instead, the older Sutherland sibling works behind the scenes as a television post-production supervisor. As for her brother Kiefer, the actor can be seen on Designated Survivor over on Netflix and is also rumored to be in the new Flatliners remake-sequel of sorts.

11. Vin Diesel / Paul Vincent

You know Vin Diesel (whose real name is Mark Sinclair Vincent, by the way) now from massive global blockbusters like the Fast & the Furious series of movies, as well as from pop-culture staples like Guardians Of The Galaxy, in which he voices both adult and baby Groot with nothing more than three words: “I am Groot.” It makes sense, then, that with such an illustrious resume to his name, that it’s a little surprising that we’ve never heard much about Vin Diesel’s twin brother!

Now before you get too taken aback, no, Vin Diesel’s brother doesn’t look much like Vin… at least not more than average siblings who look like each other. Vin Diesel has a fraternal twin brother named Paul, but unlike the action star, Paul doesn’t seem to have an affinity for the spotlight and all the fame. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t also in showbusiness like his twin Vin. Apparently Paul works as a film editor and enjoys his time behind the camera. Hey as the saying goes, films are made in the editing room, so one could argue that Paul’s job is just as or more important than Vin’s. How’s that for a shift in perspective?

10. Shawn Ashmore / Aaron Ashmore

You’ve seen Shawn Ashmore in a bunch of movies. Or was that Aaron Ashmore? Now you need to ask yourself a question; which of the Ashmores were you really watching in all those movies and TV shows? Was Aaron Ashmore the one who played the mutant Iceman in all those X-Men films? And wasn’t Aaron Ashmore the one in Smallville? Actually, both Shawn and Aaron Ashmore have been on Smallville together, and it was Shawn who played Iceman in the X-Men franchise, but no one should fault you for thinking otherwise. Both actors are identical twins and it’s always a chore trying to tell them apart.

While Shawn gained popularity for his contribution as Iceman to the X-Men series (his last outing was in X-Men: Days Of Future Past back in 2014 ), both brothers have now found a sweet spot doing a number of TV shows that have gone on to become cult favorites. Aaron Ashmore keeps himself busy as the lead in a sci-fi TV show called Killjoys, while Shawn multitasks across a number of shows like Quantum Break, Relationship Status, and Conviction. The latter also has a number of movies coming out within the next couple of years.

9. Alanis Morissette / Wade Imre Morissette

She was a massive staple of the 90s music scene and continues to contribute to the industry with her iconic influence, but not many people know that rock sensation Alanis Morissette has a twin brother! That’s right, the singer behind Billboard chart-toppers like “You Oughta Know,” “Ironic,” and “Thank U” that once dominated the airwaves has a twin brother named Wade Imre Morissette, and it just so happens that the duo are actually pretty close. Wade is just a few minutes older than Alanis, and both siblings found a natural keenness for music at a very young age. Wade Imre Morissette leans more towards the indie side of things though, and decided to incorporate his music into something unique: yoga. Yup, Alanis’ older twin brother works as a yoga instructor and performs indie rock music coupled with Sanskrit and English chants and hymns. Talk about putting a creative spin on things.

Alanis even decided to honor her older brother by giving his name to her son, who is now named Ever Imre. You can check out some of Wade Morissette’s work by just looking him up on YouTube. The Morissette twins have even collaborated on songs together. For instance, “Goodnight Angel” is a pretty good track by the twins.

8. Eva Green / Joy Green

Eva Green is a bonafide badass actor, and it’s a shame that she isn’t as massively popular as a Charlize Theron or Lena Heady when she damn well should be. What most people don’t know about Eva is that she has a fraternal twin sister named Joy. However, both Green sisters are immensely different from one another, which is quite rare when it comes to twins. While Eva Green has made a name for herself by playing tough, formidable female roles in movies such as Casino Royale, Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For, and even brought some much-needed edginess to the sequel to 300, Rise Of An Empire, as the brutal Persian warrior Artemisia, her sister Joy has no interest in dabbling in the cinematic world. When Eva was busy training to be an actor and auditioning across Tinseltown, Joy decided to study business and venture into something more mainstream. Joy later met and married an Italian count!

Right now, Eva Green is busy preparing for her role in Tim Burton’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Disney’s classic animated film, Dumbo. Meanwhile, her twin sister Joy resides in Normandy, France, where she lives with her husband and rears horses.

7. Linda Hamilton / Leslie Hamilton

Linda Hamilton erupted into the mainstream moviegoer consciousness when she played Sarah Connor in Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day, a legitimate asskicker that would go on to become a staple in pop culture with multiple iterations by various different actors throughout the years. However, not many people are aware that Linda Hamilton has an identical twin sister named Leslie Hamilton! Unlike Linda though, Leslie isn’t an actor nor was she ever interested in having a Hollywood career. Leslie works as a nurse, which must make it really weird for her patients to see Sarah Connor walking around the hospital every day. Hopefully a time-traveling cybernetic organism that looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger isn’t too far behind.

All that being said, Leslie Hamilton did get her chance to shine in the spotlight when the crew filming Terminator 2: Judgement Day needed a body double for Linda Hamilton. Obviously they turned to none other than literally Linda Hamilton’s double, Leslie Hamilton. Leslie served as Linda’s body double in Terminator 2: Judgment Day back in 1991. So the next time you see that movie, just remember that you could be looking at Linda’s twin, Leslie, in some of those shots.

6. Rami Malek / Sami Malek

Rami and Sami sound like lead characters in a children’s cartoon, but they’re actually the names of twin brothers Rami Malek and Sami Malek! Rami Malek has been in a bunch of projects like the Need For Speed movie, Short Term 12, Night At The Museum… but it was his role as Elliot Alderson in the highly-acclaimed TV show, Mr. Robot, that truly shot him into public pop culture consciousness. And just like the twists and turns that the show takes, it turns out that Rami Malek has an identical twin brother named Sami Malek in real life! Sami is the older brother here, popping out a full four minutes before the Mr. Robot headliner.

Sami Malek managed to get in on some of his brother’s fame when Rami decided to bring his twin along to an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. After talking to Jimmy about how he once impersonated his brother to score semester points in college, Rami then started to focus on Sami himself who was in the studio. This is where things took off, because it so happened that while Sami didn’t look 100% like Rami, he did inherit whatever good looks runs in the family, and soon became a viral Internet meme.

5. Aaron Carter / Angel Carter

You know Nick Carter – arguable frontman of the 90s blockbuster boy band, the Backstreet Boys. You also know Aaron Carter – Nick’s younger brother who decided to follow in his immensely popular brother’s footsteps and start a musical career of his own. But what not many people know is that Aaron Carter isn’t Nick’s only sibling. In fact, Aaron Carter has a twin sister named Angel Carter, and the sibling duo are very much alike. Angel Carter has gone on record saying, “There’s definitely like a twin connection. It’s not like you love them more or anything. It’s just that you connect with them more, you know?”

However, unlike Aaron Carter, Angel decided not to pursue a career in music and instead went the route of becoming a professional model instead. And then in February 2014, the then 26-year-old Angel Carter married Corey Conrad in an intimate wedding ceremony with family and friends in attendance. Nick Carter, on the other hand, may not be dominating the mainstream charts but continues to churn out music that’s important and significant to him. The younger Carter brother has seen his fair share of trials and tribulations through the years and seems to be finding a steadier footing these days by focusing on the music.

4. Benji Madden / Joel Madden

You may not know who Benji Madden and Joel Madden are by name, but you damn sure know them through the several number one singles they’ve released over the years via their pop-rock band, Good Charlotte. Coming to fame in the early 2000s while riding on a wave of “new” punk rock and alternative rock that seemed to be gaining popularity on mainstream airwaves, Good Charlotte managed to sell millions of albums and propelled identical twins Benji and Joel Madden to the top of the teenage pop culture music scene. After becoming staples of that era with their music, the tattooed twins went on to claim fame of another kind – the gossip tabloid kind – when they started to date a number of Hollywood’s most gorgeous women. Benji Madden has dated superstars like Paris Hilton – who once had a music career of her own amongst other things – and Holly Madison. Meanwhile Benji’s brother Joel Madden was once linked to former Disney sensation Hilary Duff, yet another pop sensation. Joel is now married to pop culture royalty, Nicole Richie.

Their band Good Charlotte isn’t showing signs of slowing down anytime soon either. In 2016, they released a brand new single called “Youth Authority” which went on to do pretty well on the charts.

3. Gisele Bündchen / Patricia Bündchen

Gisele Bündchen is the highest-paid supermodel in the world, and apparently good looks seem to be something that runs in the Bündchen family. Before she was married to American football superstar and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, the queen of the catwalk grew up in Brazil with five sisters in her household. They were Gabi, Raquel, Graziela, Rafaela, and last but not least, her fraternal twin sister, Patricia. That’s right, the world’s most famous supermodel has a twin sister, and if things were ever so slightly different there could have been two Giseles (cat)walking around. Back in 1993, Gisele and Patricia Bündchen both took a modeling course together, but for whatever reason only Gisele decided to remain in the industry while Patricia found a passion doing other things. Gisele’s choice worked spectacularly in her favor because before long, she was climbing up the glittery ladder of the modeling industry, and soon became the model who collected the biggest checks in the business.

As of 2015, in her career that spans over 20 years, Bündchen has appeared in more than 550 ad campaigns, 2000 magazine covers, and a whopping 3500 magazine editorials and 800 fashion shows!

2. Giovanni Ribisi / Marissa Ribisi

Giovanni Ribisi is one of those actors you’ve seen in tons of movies, yet you wouldn’t be able to place a face to the name if it was just mentioned out of context. He’s a fantastic character actor and has been in major films like Gone in 60 Seconds. He also has a pretty prominent role in the biggest and highest grossing Hollywood blockbuster of all time, Avatar, and is scheduled to reprise his role as Parker Selfridge in its upcoming sequels.

However, what’s not a well-known fact about Giovanni is that he has a twin sister, and it’s none other than Hollywood actress Marissa Ribisi! Yeah I know, the last name should have been a dead giveway but some people are still shocked by this reveal. I guess most people knew that they were siblings… but not many knew that they were in fact, twins. You’ll recognize Marissa Ribisi from films like Dazed and Confused as well as Pleasantville. The Ribisi twins run a pretty Hollywood-centric life, too. Giovanni Ribisi was married to British supermodel Agyness Deyn from June 2012 until 2015. Meanwhile his sister Marissa Ribisi has been married to musician Beck since 2004.

1. Parker Posey / Chris Posey

Speaking of character actors and actresses, cue the one and only Parker Posey. She’s one of those people who keeps herself busy by taking on a multitude of different projects, each immensely different from the one before, and somehow she manages to leave a mark on each and every one of them. You’ve seen her play standup comedian Louis CK’s love interest in the critically acclaimed TV show, Louie. Parker also played Marlene Stranger – a recurring role on Boston Legal. And yes, she was also Lex Luthor’s dimwitted assistant, Kitty Kowalski, in Superman Returns. And now to add another bit of Posey-esque trivia to your list… the one they call the Queen Of The Indies has a twin brother! However, unlike his indie darling sister Parker, Chris Posey doesn’t dabble in movies and TV shows. Instead, he lives and works in Atlanta as a practicing lawyer.

Parker Posey, on the other hand, has a number of projects coming up in the very near future. She’ll have a role in a film called The Brits Are Coming, due sometime this year. And she’s also playing a recurring character simply billed as “Dr. Smith” in the Lost In Space TV series that’s coming out sometime in 2018.
