All they wanted was a high five or a handshake, but they got nothing. For whatever reason, the target of their high fives and handshakes either wanted nothing to do with the person offering the gesture, or they didn’t see it coming. In either case, the embarrassment felt from not getting the motion returned is strong. In some cases, the shame is so strong that person offering the high five pretends like they weren’t offering one in the first place, ashamedly scratching their face or some other deflective move that says “I don’t care, I didn’t want to shake hands anyway”. But in the end, they were left Hanging High and Left Out To Dry.
