When it comes to Pixar movies that have left you wanting a sequel, there may not be a bigger example out there than The Incredibles. The first one was released in 2000 and went on to earn over $600 million at the box office and win several awards. It seemed like a natural formula for a sequel to be hot on its heels, and while it has been teased over the years, it is now more of a reality than ever before.
It was previously announced in 2015 that the highly anticipated sequel was to be released on June 21st, 2019. If that isn’t enough to get you excited, how about the fact that the studio recently announced a new release date of June 15th, 2018.
That’s right, you get arguably the most highly anticipated sequel one year earlier than expected!
But it’s not all high-fives, in order to put The Incredibles 2 on an accelerated production schedule, Toy Story 4 is now scheduled to hit theaters on June 21st, 2019. You can probably put the pieces together and figure out that the two movies swapped release dates.
While it’s definitely disappointing that we’ll have to wait an extra year to see Woody and the gang again, at least we have 3 Toy Story movies and soon to be, 2 Incredibles movies to help tide us over!
One look at social media and it is clear that you won’t be the only person excited about this recent news. Feel encouraged to comment below with your favorite memories from both movie franchises!
