In the 1990s, wrestling was packed with cartoonish antics and characters, WWE and WCW continuing to give stupid stuff and it seemed unlikely to change. But then in 1994, Eastern Championship Wrestling broke away the NWA to become Extreme Championship Wrestling and soon building a massive following among the Philadelphia faithful. While it had great technical action, ECW became more famous for its wild violence and pushing the envelope big time. Thanks to ECW, wrestling began to change majorly as WWF and WCW would both take cues to shift things up with WCW raiding ECW for many stars as WWF used that formula to create the Attitude Era. Despite its ups and downs and eventual fall, ECW changed wrestling forever and should be remembered for that.
Part of that change included the use of women. It wasn’t just how hot these ECW ladies looked, they would get in on the action, creating Joey Styles’ famous “CAAAATFIIIIIIGHT!” cry and the crowds going wild. They were tough and wicked, often as nasty as the guys were and willing to take their share of bumps too. The ladies of ECW truly helped elevate the game, helping create the attitude used by WWE’s “Divas” but far tougher. They kept at it from the original run to even the mostly horrid WWE revival to boost themselves up majorly and be truly amazing. Here at the ten hottest women to ever grace ECW in its forms and how they helped create this wrestling revolution.
10. Taryn Terrell
A former model, Terrell tried out for the Diva Search in 2007 and the final eight, getting her a developmental contract. She started in FCW and showed promise, moving onto ECW as Tiffany, executive assistant to Teddy Long. She got attention for her hot nun outfit at a Halloween battle royal and in the Wrestlemania XXV Divas battle royal. She also became general manager of the ECW brand, doing her best in various hot dresses. She spent time on the main roster before being let go and soon rising in TNA nicely. With her blonde hair and good built, ECW helped her get a start for a good hot career.
9. Beulah McGillicutty
A backup dancer for Prince, Beulah was introduced to Raven, taken by her innocent yet also hot look and decided she’d be perfect for a program he was about to start with Tommy Dreamer. It began with Raven claiming he and Dreamer had been rivals in summer camp where Dreamer teased an overweight girl who turned out to be Beulah. At first, she was a heel with the famous bit of Dreamer hitting her with a piledriver and then involved in a wild fake pregnancy/lesbian arc that turned her face. She proved herself in the ring with moonsaults and her bloody brawl with Bill Alphonso one of the wildest battles in ECW history. She and Dreamer would be together for real as she had to bow out due to injury but made memorable returns at the “One Night Stand” events and still revered by fans as one of the faves of the entire company.
8. Tammy Sytch
After coming to monster fame in WWF as Sunny, Sytch had issues with painkillers and problems backstage with the rise of new Divas like Sable. She moved onto ECW to join husband Chris Candido and still looking gorgeous with her blonde hair and hot body in tight outfits. Her tenure would sadly be marred by drug issues from both her and Candido, Tammy doing an interview about it but both leaving in 1999. Still, her tenure was another good move in a career of one of the most groundbreaking beauties in wrestling and still well regarded by those present.
7. Kelly Kelly
Growing up a fan of wrestling, Kelly finally got her shot in 2006. After some training in OVW, she made her debut in ECW as an exhibitionist who loved stripping down and would show off in lingerie, an instant hit as “Kelly’s Expose” that soon had Candice Michelle joining in. She was involved in various feuds but her looks were always her calling card, hanging with ECW until its end. She would go on to success in the main brands of WWE, including Divas champion before leaving in 2012 after injury and her long legs and lush chest made her one of the best reasons the new ECW existed.
Born in South Korea, Kimona came to ECW with exotic looks and beauty that added to her sex appeal (her past as a go-go dancer helped). Going around in ultra short-shorts, tight tops, exposed mid-riff and often outfits that skirted clothing laws just made her more popular with her fighting and clashing with other ladies. She was involved in the famed angle of kissing Beulah and Tommy Dreamer declaring “I’ll take them both!” Her dance routine atop the ECW Arena also became a highlight for broadcasts and while she wouldn’t have as much success elsewhere, this steamy lady helped push ECW to new limits and heights of sex appeal.
5. Miss Congeniality
Amy Dumas had been a struggling model making a name for herself on the indie circuit when Paul Heyman called her to ECW. She made her debut as Miss Congeniality, later using the name Angelica as on-screen girlfriend of Danny Doring. She was soon brought for training under legendary Dory Funk Jr, returning to ECW in 1999 having unlocked some amazing talent, including moonsaults. Still, she was a forgettable face until she signed onto WWF who gave her a new name: Lita. After that, she would become one of the most famous and popular Divas ever, showing how amazing ECW could be in finding future superstars.
4. Brooke Adams
Talk about missing the boat big time. Brooke Adams had been a model trying out for the 2006 Divas Search, not making the top 8 but still some potential. She was assigned to Deep South for training and later Florida before moving to the ECW brand. Her outfits consisted of bra tops and short thongs, quite attractive with her dark hair but lost amid the various issues regarding that brand, Extreme Expose mostly just known for dance moves and pursuing the Miz. Adams moved onto TNA where, as Brooke Tessmacher, she rose from a side character to one of the best female wrestlers on the roster and three-time Knockouts champion. A great athlete and fantastic sexy beauty, Adams is one star ECW/WWE let slip away despite her great sexy appeal.
The “Queen of Extreme,” she debuted in 1995 as a devoted “fan” of Stevie Richards who soon became his manager. She was popular from the start with her great beauty and smooth legs, working with the Pitbulls to get crowds going. She hit her height when she turned on them to join Shane Douglas, her outfits even skimpier and riling up the fans. She could take lumps with being put through a table and other moves and later managed Tommy Dreamer and Justin Credible until ECW went out of business. She’s had runs in TNA and WWE since but that ECW run is still well remembered as one of the hottest of all.
Nancy Benoit is sadly known today for her tragic end but she was an amazing looker in her time. In ECW, she was the manager of the Sandman, aiding in his famous “blinding” angle and caning Tommy Dreamer. In high heels and tight skirts, Woman showed off very well as the bitch the fans hated with the bit of her aroused seeing the Sandman cane someone. She left in 1996 to rejoin WCW but for ECW’s formative years, she set the standard for the antics of their Divas that would be followed by slews after her but few touching her great stuff.
1. Dawn Marie
Coming to a 1998 show on behalf of the Dudleys, Dawn Marie immediately caught Paul Heyman’s eye and he realized this was a lady to push. She was soon made the manager of the Impact Players, a breakout with her fantastic chest, lush hair and bitchy attitude making her a natural heel. She would come out in skimpy outfits and heels and rile up crowds nicely, a commentator as well and through ECW’s end, she remained a reason to tune in. Dawn would later have success in WWE to prove herself one of the great hotties of all wrestling no matter where.
