It is sometimes difficult to fully understand just what it is that World Wrestling Entertainment wants out of its female performers these days. Does the company want these women to be “Divas” who are featured on reality television programs when they are not having matches inside of rings? Maybe the WWE is moving away from this aspect of programming to instead focus on these talented athletes being treated as wrestlers, as has been the case in development brand NXT. Then again, any hopes that may be occurring have been dashed by the dumpster fire experiment that has been the “Divas Revolution.”
Debating which WWE Divas you would not want to date can be a fun and humorous topic, if only because it is based on characters that are completely fictional. Even the depictions of the women that are featured on the Total Divas program are only so real, and thus we have to keep such discussions based in the world that is contained by the “WWE Universe.” It should come as no surprise to see the name of the woman who tops the list of the WWE Divas you would not want to date. She has been around for nearly two decades, and she continues to be front-and-center on WWE programming and in storylines.
10. Nia Jax
We are going to be honest as it pertains to the start of the list of WWE Divas you would not want to date. Nia Jax just scares the life out of us. Jax was mostly known as the cousin of The Rock up until she made her debut on NXT, where she was booked to be an unbeatable monster heel until she ran into Bayley at the NXT Takeover: London show. While Bayley emerged victorious on that evening, that does not erase any fears we may have about what would happen if we made Ms. Jax angry. We’re assuming that Jax would not like us when she is angry.
Similar to what was said about Nia Jax, Tamina is a strong and powerful woman who has, at times of her WWE career, been downright frightening. Tamina, the real-life daughter of former WWE Superstar Jimmy Snuka, has played the role of a bodyguard on several occasions since she first entered the company. While she has never had a lengthy run at the top of the women’s division, Tamina is nevertheless a woman that we would not recommend messing with or making an enemy. You can choose to attempt to date this WWE Diva if you want, but proceed with caution!
8. Dana Brooke
There are several reasons why we would include Dana Brooke in a list of WWE Divas that you would not want to date. For starters, Brooke has done that thing where she taps the tops of the heads of announcers after interviews time after time. That’s just obnoxious. Then, there is the fact that she has referred to herself as “The Total Diva,” which is quite the nickname for somebody who has yet to make it to the top of the mountain in NXT or the WWE. Last but certainly not least is the way that she pronounces her “a’s” with that Cleveland/midwest accent.
We all love Bayley. Who couldn’t? She is the ultimate underdog who is a true role model for fans of all ages. Bayley had a hand in two Match of the Year candidates in 2015, and she and Sasha Banks absolutely stole the show at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn. In this imaginary world where we are discussing WWE Divas you would or wouldn’t want to date like you were in a romantic comedy, Bayley would be the best friend but not the love interest. Besides, it might take some time to get over Bayley deciding to hug everybody in sight. That could be weird.
6. Bella Twins
We would only be kidding ourselves if we pretended that the Bella Twins were not stunning women. The problem here is that both Nikki and Brie have, for the most part, been the WWE’s answers to characters straight out of the cult classic movie Mean Girls. Our advice here is to stop hoping that the Bella Twins are going to become likable babyface characters in the eyes of most fans. It isn’t going to happen, WWE. We would also like to take this time to point out that the father of the Bella Twins did not, in fact, invent Toaster Strudel; at least we don’t think he did.
5. Sasha Banks
There is nothing wrong with a beautiful and talented woman exuding self confidence. In fact, it can even be a turn-on for some out there. While Sasha Banks has all of those qualities, she takes things to a different level. She earned the nickname “The Boss” with the way that she handled business in NXT, as she ran the women’s division up until she was called up to the main roster. Banks even received a personal escort of bodyguards to the ring at the NXT Takeover: Brooklyn show, where she had those guys literally lift her into the ring. That’s a bit too much for us.
One thing that has been made clear since Paige first debuted on the main WWE roster is that she is a Diva that cannot be trusted. Paige has been through so many turns from babyface to heel and then back to babyface that it is almost as if her WWE career has been booked by The Big Show. One week, Paige is a member of a stable of Divas. The next week, she is on her own and even feuding with her former friends. It is all far too complicated to try to keep up with on a weekly basis.
Take one look at the “Ravishing Russian,” and it is understandable why she may be the WWE Diva you would want to date. Then, however, you may remember that period of time when she was wearing those ridiculous denim jackets when she was linked up with Dolph Ziggler. That alone could be enough of a buzzkill for those who have Lana in their hearts. If that isn’t enough, though, remember that trying to woo Lana could rile up Rusev (both in fiction and in reality). Sometimes, it is better to ignore what the heart wants and remember that there are plenty of fish in the sea.
Maybe the version of Charlotte who was featured on versions of NXT before the wrestler was called up to the main roster would have been fun to date. The same probably cannot be said about the Charlotte who won the Diva’s Championship, turned heel and now has her father with her pretty much everywhere she goes. “Wait a minute,” you may say. “Hanging out with Ric Flair all the time would be awesome!” That’s probably true, but you wouldn’t be hanging out with Ric Flair. You’d be the guy dating his daughter, and, knowing the “Nature Boy,” that probably wouldn’t end well.
1. Stephanie McMahon
Stephanie McMahon continues to be a major character who is involved in main event angles and who can even enter the ring for the occasional one-off match, and thus she has to make the list of WWE Divas you would not want to date. We have, while McMahon has been in charge of storylines as part of “The Authority” heel group, seen the daughter of Vince McMahon verbally tear down superstars week in and week out. Having to put up with that on a daily basis from a significant other would get old in a hurry; about as old as having a heel authority figure run shows such as Raw, in fact.
