This year’s Formula One, or F1, competition is shaping up to be a memorable one. New rules will be put in place next year with the vehicles to have 1.6-liter V6 turbocharged engines. This means that this year is the last time we will see them with the 2.4-liter V8 engine configuration.
Sebastian Vettel is eyeing a fourth straight driver’s title, while his Red Bull team aims for four straight as well in the constructor’s championship. The great Michael Schumacher has finally retired after disappointing results with Mercedes AMG for the past three years. Lewis Hamilton ended 14 years of tenure with McLaren to take the helm at Mercedes. Five new drivers have come in, including Esteban Gutierrez of Sauber, Valtteri Bottas of Williams, Max Chilton and Jules Bianchi of Marussia and Giedo van der Garde of Caterham.
The teams expected to battle it out are the usual suspects, with Ferrari, Lotus and McLaren hoping to challenge the Red Bull team. There will be 22 drivers from 11 teams battling for racing honors in 19 races throughout the year.
