The franchise is one of the eight founder teams of IPL and owned by the UB group chairman Dr. Vijay Mallya who paid $111.6 million for the team ownership. Sunrisers Hyderabad replaced Deccan Chargers franchise from IPL 2013 season. The franchise is owned by the Kalinithi Maran of Sun TV Network. the company has paid $85 million for the ownership rights of the franchise for 5 years. Earlier Hyderabad franchise Deccan chargers were the winners of the IPL season 2009 at South Africa. The franchise has a brand value of $31.49 million.
