The smell of fresh cut grass, painted lines, and copious amounts of Bud Light in your garage mean only one thing; football is back. It’s been a long hot summer but week one of the 2014-2015 NFL season is finally upon us. Not only does that mean we get to spend all Thursday, Sunday, and Monday night checking our fantasy team, but it also means that there will be plenty of eye candy for cameras to be checking out on the sidelines during TV timeouts.
It’s sort of cliché, but it goes without saying that the Quarterbacks usually get the girl. Even on my JV Football team, the “star” QB was going out with the hottest cheerleader who was way out of his league. Obviously it didn’t last long because she was a nine and he was a six, but that doesn’t appear to be an issue for QBs in the NFL.
Now, I don’t want to say that these women are in it for the money, but it does just happen to be that the quarterbacks with the hottest wives and girlfriends also happen to be some of the highest paid. Here are 10 of the hottest WAGs that you need to keep an eye on for the 2014-15 NFL season.
10. Jessica Szohr/Aaron Rodgers — Green Bay Packers
Honestly, I don’t even know if the couple is currently dating. While they first started going out in 2011, the starting QB of the Green Bay Packers has dated several dime pieces since, including Destiny Newton and Oliva Munn. However, for some reason Rodgers has had to dodge rumors of his sexuality since most of his ex-flings have been very hush-hush. Either way, Jessica Szohr is smoking hot and will hopefully be on a screen near you soon. As an actress, she has most famously been on Gossip Girl, while she was named to People’s Top 100 Most Beautiful Women in 2010.
9. Gisele Bundchen/Tom Brady — New England Patriots
Not only is Tom Brady one of the best quarterbacks in the game, he’s got a smoking hot Victoria’s Secret model to go along with his three Super Bowl rings. Despite his success on the field, I’m guessing it’s not his play that Gisele was intrigued by when the pair first started dating. Bundchen was born in Brazil, where football certainly has an entirely different meaning than in North America. Her success as a model and actress has helped her to become a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Environment Programme and is hailed as the last remaining “supermodel”.
8. Kristin Cavallari/Jay Cutler — Chicago Bears
Love him or hate him, Jay Cutler is the QB for the Chicago Bears and probably one of the most polarizing players in the league. Not so much as of late, but in previous years fans were quick to point out his lack of heart and effort down the stretch. Apparently none of that mattered to Kristin Cavallari, former star of MTV’s Laguna Beach. The couple married in 2013 and has been pretty busy since then. The couple appeared on FX’s The League and have been busy keeping up with their kids, Jaxon and Camden.
7. Candice Crawford/Tony Romo — Dallas Cowboys
Despite his on-field troubles, Tony Romo has actually done pretty well for himself the past few years. After his monumental breakup with Jessica Simpson, Romo found love with Candice Crawford, a former Miss Missouri and Miss USA contender. While working at KDAF Dallas-Fort Worth, Crawford and Romo met and began dating in 2009. By 2011, the couple was married and expecting their first child by 2012. Most recently, this hot mom gave birth to the couple’s second son, Rivers Romo, meanwhile Tony will be doing everything possible to keep the Cowboys’ heads above water this season.
6. Lauren Tannehill/Ryan Tannehill — Miami Dolphins
While Ryan Tannehill has only been in the league for a couple of years, his wife Lauren sure has made a big splash in the eyes of men throughout the country. After taking the country by storm on draft day, Lauren was again the focal point of the cameras when the Miami Dolphins were featured on HBO’s Hard Knocks. Since then, Lauren has received dozens of invites to appear on reality TV shows and pose for magazines, yet she has unfortunately declined. Apparently, she reluctantly declined the offers in order to help Ryan focus on his game, even though she did make headlines for leaving an AR-15 in the trunk of her Hertz rental car. Some may say “typical blonde”, I say job well done, Ryan!
5. Elizabeth Smith/Alex Smith — Kansas City Chiefs
Ya know, a lot of times it’s the woman that makes the man. This is certainly the case for Alex Smith thanks in part to his wife Elizabeth. After going through a new offensive coordinator in almost every one of his seven seasons as a member of the San Francisco 49ers, Alex was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs after being uprooted as the starter by Colin Kaepernick. With Elizabeth at his side, Alex packed up and shipped out. The former Raiders’ cheerleader is drop dead gorgeous, so Smith has plenty to play for this upcoming season as he looks to build on the success he had last season with the Chiefs.
4. Sam Ponder/Christian Ponder — Minnesota Vikings
Not only is Sam Ponder one of the sexiest women on TV, but she is also vying for the top spot on our hottest WAGs list. Ponder is currently a sideline reporter for ESPN and has appeared on College Gameday and the Texas Longhorn Network. The two met after Christian, then a Florida State QB, started sending Sam messages on Twitter. One thing led to another and the couple was married within a year. Christian will be fighting for his job this year at the Vikings start the season this week, while Sam will be on the sidelines of some of ESPN’s biggest games this season where she live tweets and takes plenty of selfies for her Instagram.
3. Katherine Webb/AJ McCarron — Cincinnati Bengals
In case you’ve been living under a rock for the last two years, let me introduce you to football’s favorite girlfriend in 2013. Ms. Webb broke onto the stage during the 2013 BCS National Championship game thanks to Brent Musburger who repeatedly called her “lovely” and “beautiful” while the cameras were zoomed in on her in the stands. Despite her graduating from Auburn University, Webb stuck by McCarron’s side as he became the first QB to win back-to-back national championships. As for Webb, she was offered several reality TV shows and numerous marriage proposals since Musburger lost his mind over her. She has since gone on to pose for Sports Illustrated and married AJ in 2014.
2. Kelly Hall/Matt Stafford — Detroit Lions
As the Lions slowly slipped to a 4-12 season in 2013, Matt Stafford did his best to put the season behind him during the offseason, starting with asking his girlfriend to marry him. Kelly Hall and Matt Stafford met while they both attended the University of Georgia where she was a cheerleader. Does anybody see a recurring theme where the QB gets the girl? Ugh. Not only that, but it looks like they have a hell of a time out on the lake, going on vacations, and attending the best events, most recently in Detroit for the Eminem and Rihanna concert. Hopefully all this doesn’t go to his head, because Detroit fans everywhere are in dire need of a winning season from the Honolulu blue.
1. Lindsey Duke/Blake Bortles — Jacksonville Jaguars
One word: damn. It looks like Mr. Bortles has himself the total package in Lindsey Duke. The couple had known each other since high school and dated through college where Blake was a star for Central Florida’s football team. In fact, in the madness leading up to the 2014 NFL Draft, Duke’s name turned up more results on Google than Bortles’; 6 million for Duke and 225,000 for Bortles. Very similar to Katherine Webb’s rise to fame in 2013, Lindsey Duke just about broke the internet and has yet to disappoint, and for that, we thank her.
