15 Shocking Facts About The World’s Most Famous Landmarks

15 Shocking Facts About The World’s Most Famous Landmarks

Many of the world’s darkest secrets are hidden in plain sight. The world’s famous landmarks are often massive sources of mystery, and their very existence is sometimes a complete unknown. And these landmarks fall across the timeline of human history, as well as the entire world. From the Pyramids of Giza and South America to the more modern structures that have been built in the last few decades, the builders often go out of their way to hide secret messages within the buildings themselves.

Many times this is because the builders of these structures come from an ancient class of people – the Masons. These people have constructed the same mega-structures from the beginning of civilization all the way to present day. This shadowy group uses mathematics, the universal language, to tell stories that survive the rise and fall of several civilizations. And you might surprised and a little unsettled when you find out the truth about these messages.

Sometimes you have to dig deeper. Sometimes you have to study these structures for years until you find out the truth. New information is constantly being revealed about the most famous structures of the world. Other times, the message is as clear as day, written or depicted in plain view, and sometimes these blatant messages are more disturbing than the hidden ones.

15. The Georgia Guide Stones

One of the most obvious secrets can be seen in plain view, written on the famous Georgia Guide Stones. These ominous looking stones were erected in 1980 and contain 10 guidelines for establishing what is commonly referred to as a “new world order.” These guidelines are written in eight different languages, including Babylonian and ancient Egyptian, and the structure is built to withstand the test of time.

While most of the inscriptions seem pretty innocent, it’s the first one that’s the most shocking: “Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.” These guidelines seem to advocate reducing the world’s population to 500 million, something that would require massive worldwide genocide. Many people have interpreted this as being a warning that the New World Order will one day “cull” all of the “useless” humans.

14. Temple Of Man

Sometimes the most interesting and chilling facts about the world’s most famous landmarks can be found in the dimensions of the structures themselves. This is true with the Temple Of Man, an amazing structure in Luxor, Egypt, also known simply as the Luxor Temple. Built in 1400 B.C.E, the temple was apparently meant to symbolize the exact proportions of a human body. You can see in the images that the Ancient Egyptians quite clearly built this to represent the various parts of the human body – from the head all the way down to the feet. For many people, the temple is an example of sacred geometry – using the golden ratio, Pi, which appears in all living things. The first room of the temple, the head, is expanded upon by the original Pharaoh’s descendants with the second room, which follows the principles of Pi in its enlarged state. This continues all the way down the legs. In addition, inscriptions inside the temple seem to depict sperm cells, indicating an understanding of science far beyond what we thought possible.

13. Gobekli Tepe

Gobekli Tepe has become one of the most famous landmarks in the world recently, especially to archaeologists. This is because the site is one of the oldest known temples in history. Dating has shown that this site is about 12,000 years old, predating the earliest recognized civilizations by many thousands of years. This was technically before humans starting to engage in agriculture, meaning that nomadic hunter-gatherers must have put these huge pillars in place. But that’s not all. New insights show that this structure was used as an observatory from which to observe the stars. Researchers discovered that the carvings of animals on the stone pillars actually represent astrological constellations, not unlike the signs of the horoscope we use today. On one of the pillars, however, a much darker story is told. When researchers looked for the constellation depicted on this pillar, a headless man, they realized that it had not been seen for 13,000 years – the exact date when a massive comet struck the Earth and changed our climate forever, even sparking a mini ice age. It seems that the people who built Gobekli Tepe witnessed this event, and suffered immensely from the destruction it caused.

12. The Great Pyramid Of Giza

One of the greatest mysteries of the world is the great pyramid of Giza. It is the largest pyramid in the world, and probably the most impressive thing humans have ever constructed, modern or ancient. It’s often said that even with modern technology, we could not replicate the great pyramid.

So who was it that managed to build the great pyramid? This brings us to the most chilling fact about the great pyramid – we really have no idea who built it. Sure, modern Egyptologists will tell you that the pyramid was built by the Pharaoh Khufu, but they actually have very little evidence for this claim. Herodotus, an ancient Greek historian famous for his blatant lies said that it was built by Khufu. There is also a funerary complex bearing Khufu’s name nearby the complex. And finally, graffiti found scrawled in red ochre on one of the Pyramid’s walls bears a mark that sort of looks like the hieroglyph for the word “Khufu.” That is virtually all the evidence they have. Khufu himself talks about repairing the pyramid, not constructing it, and he explains how he dug it out of the sand. This sounds like he discovered it, rather than actually building it.

In addition, there is the fact that as the Egyptian society got older and older, their pyramid building ability got worse and worse, which implies they were copying pyramid construction rather than inventing it. Also, there is the fact that there is salt water erosion on the side of the pyramid, rising up to 14 feet, indicating that the pyramid was at one point submerged in water. Sea shells and fossils found on the side of the pyramid have been dated to 12,000 years old. It seems that whoever built the pyramid was alive before intense flooding swept over the Nile.

11. The Creation Of Adam – The Sistine Chapel

In a recent episode of the television show Westworld, the Creation of Adam painting by Michelangelo was examined by one of the characters. He claimed that there was a hidden message in the painting. The scene depicts Adam being created by God, who is inside some kind of bubble surrounded by angels. Ford, the character who is explaining the painting in Westworld, points out that this bubble looks an awful lot like a human brain. He suggests that the painting depicts humanity receiving its true gift – consciousness. Brain power is what separates us from animals, after all. Michelangelo actually knew exactly what a human brain looked like, as he was dissecting human corpses while he was a teenager in his quest to figure out how human bodies worked. This painting can be found in the Sistine Chapel, a major landmark and a very holy site. But was Michelangelo trying to say something very un-religious? Was he saying that there was no god, (at least in the way the church imagines him) and that our divinity comes not from an external source, but from within, from our minds?

10. The Tomb Of Tutankhamun

One of the greatest mysteries was stumbled upon when the tomb of Tutankhamun was found. Among his many treasures, an amulet was found that featured a scarab beetle made of a strange green glass. Originally, researchers thought it was a precious stone, but when it was analyzed they discovered that it was a unique type of glass that was found in only one place – the middle of the desert. When researchers traveled there, they found countless shards of this same glass, both large and small. To this day, they have no explanation as to how the glass got there. Glass of that type is only formed when the Earth’s surface is subjected to massive amounts of heat from an explosion. They came up with a theory that the glass was formed by a massive comet impacting the earth, but when they looked at similar types of glass from other comet impacts, they found that the glass looked very different.

This is where is gets crazy. The researchers then started looking at the sites from nuclear explosion test sites, especially at New Mexico, where the sand is similar. They found glass there that looked identical to that which was found in the desert, where King Tut’s amulet came from. So now we’re left in a very uncomfortable position. The only likely theory is that King Tut’s glass came from a nuclear explosion. But that’s impossible… right? When Oppenheimer created the first nuclear weapon, he was quoted as saying that he was not the first person to invent the nuclear bomb, but only the first person in modern times. He regularly quoted ancient Vedic texts which spoke of an ancient nuclear war. One quote from these texts is eerily familiar: “A single projectile charged with all the power in the universe…An incandescent column of smoke and flame as bright as 10,000 suns, rose in all its splendor…it was an unknown weapon, an iron thunderbolt, a gigantic messenger of death which reduced to ashes an entire race.”

9. The Sphinx

The Sphinx has been a symbol of mysteries and riddles for centuries, and for good reason. This is another Egyptian monument whose origin is still pretty much unknown. The head of the Sphinx is quite obviously different from its body. The human Pharaonic face seems much too small for the much larger body of a lion, and one theory is that the head was carved much later, replacing the original head, which may have been the head of a lion. In addition, water erosion on the side of the Sphinx enclosure indicates that massive flooding took place, pushing back the date of the Sphinx many thousands of years before the Ancient Egyptians were even occupying that area. While some say water erosion only pushes that date of the Sphinx back a few hundred years before the generally accepted date, others say that it indicates a much earlier date. The Sphinx could have been constructed by early hunter-gatherers who would have worshiped animals like lions rather than Pharaohs.

8. The Valley Of The Kings

Further ancient Egyptian mysteries can be found in the Valley of the Kings, the massive cemetery of the Ancient Egyptians, where all their royalty were buried. When some researchers examined these mummies, they found something stunning – cocaine and tobacco residue. This is important because cocaine and tobacco plants are today only found in South America. Does this mean that cocaine plants once existed in Egypt, or does this mean that the Mayans and the Egyptians actually had contact with each other and were engaging in trade? Contact with the Americas might not be as far-fetched as it sounds, as there are mentions of an Ancient Egyptian queen named Hatshepsut, funding an overseas voyage to another continent in 1477 BC. Many mainstream Egyptologists have dismissed these theories, however. Still, a more connected ancient world might explain why there are the same types of pyramids all over the world, most notably in Egypt and South America.

7. Teotihuacan

By far the largest pyramid in South America is the Pyramid Of The Sun at Teotihuacan. This pyramid is not as tall as the great pyramid at Giza, but shares a base of almost the same size. And like the pyramid of Giza, where it came from and who built it is completely unknown. Although the site was visited by the Aztecs, they did not build it – they merely found it. What they discovered was an entire city that had been abandoned for an unknown amount of time, with the pyramid of the sun at the center. In fact, the very name “Pyramid of the Sun” is just something the Aztecs called it, and the actual original name is unknown. So who built this massive pyramid? There is a lot of mystery surrounding this culture, and there are theories that the city was built around 100 B.C.E, and was the largest city in South America at the time, and the sixth largest city in the world. Teotihuacan simply means “place of the gods” in the Aztec language, and the original name is not known. Something big happened that left the entire culture vandalized and destroyed, as most of the monuments were destroyed and burned, and the entire city was abandoned.

6. The Statue At The Large Hadron Collider

The Large Hadron Collider, also known as the LHC, is considered one of humanity’s greatest scientific achievements. Located in Sweden, the facility smashes atoms together to create miniature black holes. But one of the strangest things about this facility is the strange statue located outside. It’s actually a statue of the god Shiva, who among other things is considered to be the god of destruction, terror, and is known as “the dark one.” This rather ominous statue stands guard outside the facility, and many conspiracy theorists say it’s a hidden message to the public – that the actual purpose of the Large Hadron Collider is much more nefarious than they are admitting. There are many theories as to what this secret purpose is – from destroying the entire universe to creating a portal to hell. Who knows, maybe some people have just been playing a little too much of the video game “DOOM.” The fact remains, however, that the LHC is actually creating miniature black holes, so who knows what might end up happening…

5. The Charging Bull

Most people are familiar with the “Charging Bull” statue in New York City. But you might be surprised when you learn about its supposed symbolism. Some people believe that the Charging Bull is actually a statue that venerates the ancient god Moloch. This was a god that was worshiped by pagans long before Christianity. Originally this was god was only mentioned in the Bible, but archaeological discoveries have confirmed its existence, which was also known as “Baal” in those times. This god was worshiped by constructing a bronze bull statue, lighting a furnace inside, and throwing victims in it.

Most of the time, the worshipers actually sacrificed babies to the statue of Moloch, which were burned alive in excruciating agony by the hot metal, often placing the baby in the outstretched bronze hands of the statue.  The Charging Bull statue in New York is also made from solid bronze, which raises many suspicions. It’s also located on Wall Street, a place of greed and materialism, things that were associated with the god Moloch in the Bible. In addition, many people believe that a group of rich elites still worship Moloch, as there are accounts of these types of rituals taking place in special meetings at an elite gathering called the “Bohemian Grove.”

4. Harappa

Another ancient civilization that seems to have vanished off the face of the Earth is the Harappan civilization of the Indus valley. Located in present day India, the ancient ruins of Harappa has become one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world. Along with the ancient city of Mohenjo-Daro, Harappa is the only thing that remains of an advanced culture that lived about 5,000 years ago – during the same time as the ancient Mesopotamian culture. The city was incredibly advanced. It had large public swimming pools with waterproof bricks and an advanced sewage system with flushing toilets in every house that is more advanced than many areas of India and Pakistan today. The society was apparently egalitarian, with no temples or palaces reserved for kings. Every house was completely equal. Then all of a sudden the culture completely disappears. There are a few theories about what happened to them, such as drought or violence, but as of right now no one really knows what happened to the Harappan society, or who they even were.

3. Los Pinchudos

Hidden away on a rocky ledge in Peru is a tomb which has become famous in recent years. They call it “Los Pinchudos,” and it marks the resting place of several very old mummies from one of the oldest tribes in Peru. The Incas called this tribe the Chachapoya, or the “Cloud People.” When the Spanish arrived, the Chachapoya had already been conquered, and today they are essentially extinct. All we have to go on is the firsthand accounts of people like conquistador Cieza de León, who said: “They are the whitest and most handsome of all the people that I have seen in Indies, and their wives were so beautiful that because of their gentleness, many of them deserved to be the Incas’ wives and to also be taken to the Sun Temple (…) The women and their husbands always dressed in woolen clothes and in their heads they wear their llautos, which are a sign they wear to be known everywhere.”

So were the Chachopoya people actually white? Going back to Los Pinchudos, mummies found there and elsewhere show that the buried individuals had much lighter hair than the typical Inca people – it was brown or even reddish, as opposed to black. But does this mean they were Caucasian? Or were they simply a unique race of people? We will probably never know…

2. Mount Fuji

One of the most iconic landmarks in the world is Mount Fuji, the largest mountain in Japan and one of the most picturesque sights in the world. But while it may look beautiful, its forests hold a dark secret. One side of Mount Fuji’s slopes contains a forest called Aokigahara, otherwise known as the Suicide Forest or the Sea Of Trees. Recently, increasing numbers of Japanese people have come to the forest to commit suicide. There are even signs posted in the forest that urge people to think about their families and choose life instead. In 2010, over 200 people attempted suicide in the forest. Today, Japan refuses to even publicize the actual number of suicides that take place in the forest, from fear that it will become an even more popular suicide destination. The most popular method of suicide is by overdose or hanging one’s self from a tree, and it’s not uncommon to find people swaying from tree branches in this forest. In addition, the forest is said to be haunted by the souls who have taken their own lives within the forest.

1. The Fallen Angel Statue

Last but not least is the Fallen Angel statue in Madrid, otherwise known as the Fuente del Ángel Caído. Because the statue depicts the fallen angel after he was thrown out of heaven by God, the statue is considered a depiction of Satan, or Lucifer. This undoubtedly led to a lot of controversy when the statue was first installed in Madrid. This statue is actually the only upright statue dedicated to Satan that has been installed in a nation’s capital city. Some Satanists and devil-worshipers actually travel to Madrid just to stand in the presence of this statue. And if that wasn’t strange enough, it’s actually situated at exactly 666 feet above sea level. Many people have called for it to be destroyed, but the church allows it because according to them, the statue does not venerate the devil – it merely recounts a Biblical story. Is this a sign of devil worship in plain sight? You be the judge.
