While many normal people and journalists have no issue saying how they feel about Kim Kardashian, it’s actually more rare to see another celebrity speak up about Kim K. Hollywood is absurdly political, so insulting Kim could potentially burn a bridge and one day down the road, epically screw them.
I mean, look at how far she has already come. Kim married Kanye, who is a majorly well-respected rapper. Ten years ago, did anyone think that Kim would have a high-profile marriage, a Vogue cover, an invitation to the Met Gala and a little sister who models for the likes of Chanel? Like it or not, the Kardashians/Jenners have risen far higher than where they started and may run Hollywood one day.
Credit should be given to Kim, as she has made a wildly successful career out of simply knowing how media coverage works. There are always people who criticize Kim for being famous for being famous, but that is much harder than it seems. While many other reality TV stars have not been able to keep themselves in the spotlight, Kim has somehow succeeded in doing so. She knows when to say something outrageous, post a salacious selfie or destroy Taylor Swift on Snapchat.
Despite her knack for PR and her business savvy, there are still many reasons why Kim rubs people the wrong way. For starters, she is a millionaire who is deemed “talentless.” She also launched her empire with a sex tape, but that was years ago and I think we should all move on by now.
All this being said, a few other celebrities have not been so hush hush about their dislike of Kim Kardashian and what she stands for. Below are the 15 meanest things that other celebs have said about ol’ selfie queen, Kim K.
15. Anna Wintour
If you don’t know who Anna Wintour is, she is basically the gate keeper of all that is fashion in this modern world. She’s the editor-in-chief of Vogue and the unofficial (but totally official) decider of who has style. If you’ve seen The Devil Wears Prada, Meryl Streep was portraying her. If you haven’t see The Devil Wears Prada, it’s a great feel-good movie so you should add it to your Netflix queue.
Anyway, after Kim and Kanye appeared on the cover of Vogue, Anna caught some heat. People were not happy with the choice of Kim Kardashian on the cover. I mean, let’s forget the fact that this was the first interracial couple on the cover of Vogue and that was kind of a big deal because it was Kim K. In response to people’s disappointment with seeing Kim on the cover, Anna said: “I think if we just remain deeply tasteful and just put deeply tasteful people on the cover, it would be a rather boring magazine! Nobody would talk about us.”
That was a great way to defend the cover, but also very slyly insult Kim and Kanye because apparently they are not deeply tasteful people in the opinion of Anna Wintour, which, considering who she is, is the meanest thing she could possibly say about someone. We see you, Anna Wintour.
14. Sarah Michelle Gellar
Speaking of people not down with Kim and Kanye on the cover of Vogue, Sarah Michelle Gellar was not a fan. After seeing the reality TV star on the cover of Vogue, Gellar tweeted: “Well … I guess I’m canceling my Vogue subscription. Who is with me???”
Her tweet wasn’t really met with many people posting similar opinions or joining in on her boycott. For the most part, people shared their love for the couple, joked about why people cared in the first place, or kept mum on this dissatisfaction. Even if people disagreed with the couple being on the cover, people in Hollywood try to generally be political about their feelings, as to not burn a bridge – especially, a bridge with Kanye.
13. Janice Dickinson
Apparently, Janice Dickinson does not like Kim Kardashian. Or Paris Hilton. At all. In an interview, Janice Dickinson said, “Paris Hilton? Kim Kar-trashian? Sluts, whores and sluts. That’s what they are.”
In her heyday, Dickinson was a huge model, posing for such magazines as Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Elle, and Marie Claire. She even claims to have coined the phrase supermodel in 1979. The supermodel origin story goes that when her manager told her she was doing too much work and was not Superman, she supposedly replied, “I am not Superman, I am a supermodel.”
After her modeling career ended, she found ways to branch out by being a judge on America’s Next Top Model and launching her own jewelry line. You’d think someone so career savvy would perhaps respect Paris and Kim for their business savvy ways, but Janice does not.
12. Chloë Grace Moretz
Chloë Grace Moretz is a young, successful star. I mean, she’s 19 years old and already has 58 acting credits to her name. Girlfriend must be pretty busy, but not too busy to keep her from weighing in on some of Kim K’s life choices.
When Kim posted that nude selfie that launched a million opinionated tweets, Moretz was among them, saying: “I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than our bodies.”
Tweets went back and forth, as some celebs stuck with Moretz, urging Kim to be more of a role model, while other celebs were more on the side of Kim, saying that she should be able to show off her body any way she’d like.
Kim didn’t take Moretz’s tweet lying down. She tweeted back: “Let’s all welcome @ChloeGMoretz to twitter, since no one knows who she is. your nylon cover is cute boo.” At least, Kim’s pretty good with the clap back.
11. Naya Rivera
When that edition of Paper Magazine with Kim K on the cover hit, it didn’t necessarily “break the internet” like the cover said, but people definitely had a lot of opinions about the cartoonishly sexy way Kim was portrayed on it
On of the celebs who spoke out was Naya Rivera, who straight-up wrote in an Instagram comment to Kim: “I normally don’t. But … you’re someone’s mother.”
For the record, moms are still totally allowed to be hot. And, did we really think Kim was going to tone it down after having children? Her brand is being hot.
What gets even weirder is that Rivera, of Glee fame, has been accused of copying Kim’s style in the past, as Rivera will be photographed wearing a similar outfit after Kim K has rocked it. In Rivera’s defense, Kim is photographed a lot, like probably more than any person should ever be photographed. It’s likely that anyone, anywhere could be accused of stealing Kim’s look considering the sheer amount of outfits she’s been photographed in.
10. Kathy Griffin
Being a comedian, Kathy Griffin‘s job is to make fun of celebs so obvious, she’s said some things about Kim Kardashian. No offense to Kim, but she has definitely set herself up to be the butt of a joke or two. We are talking about the woman who launched an empire with a sex tape, after all.
On Jimmy Kimmel Live, Griffin said, “She is super stupid.” While that’s far from the most elaborate thing anyone had ever said about Kim, sometimes it’s the simple insults that sting worse of all. Calling someone super stupid is just a quick gut-punch. It’s quick, to the point and hurts. Griffin also called Kim’s wedding to Kris Humphries a “nightmare from hell” and criticized them for their virtual wedding guestbook.
Going back to the drama of Kim’s naked selfie, Pink was not happy about it either. In a long response that she posted to social media, she praised women who were using their brains, talent and work ethic. She continued in saying that you may not receive as much fame or money, but you shouldn’t exchange your body for money and fame. She ended the message with: “In the quiet moments, you will feel something deeper than fleeting excitement resulting from attention, you will feel something called pride and self respect. Keep on resisting the urge to cave. You’ll never have to make silly excuses for yourself.” Boom. Mic drop.
Though Pink may have not said Kim’s name directly, she also didn’t have to, as it was pretty obvious. She indirectly said that Kim is not using her brains, work ethic or talent and that she does not have pride nor self-respect. Ouch.
In Kim’s defense, she is talented AF at taking selfies. If you’ve ever tried to get a really good selfie, you understand why Kim’s talent really is taking selfies. Sure, it’s a shallow talent but it’s still a talent.
8. Bette Midler
This is the last comment from the whole naked selfie incident, but Bette Midler‘s response was just too good to not include. After Kim posted her nude selfie, Midler tweeted: “Kim Kardashian tweeted a nude selfie today. If Kim wants us to see a part of her we’ve never seen, she’s gonna have to swallow the camera.”
In this moment, I was like, “Damn, who knew Better Midler was so cool?” Midler insulted Kim in a super funny way, which is obviously the best way to insult anyone because you can always claim to have just been joking, which is exactly what Midler did.
After an exchange, Kim called Midler fake because she apparently sent Kim a gift a while back. Midler then replied that everyone can take a selfie but not everyone can take a joke. Midler and her quick wit.
Perhaps one of the most random celebs on this list is Fabio. In an interview, he said: “Kim Kardashian is trash… All the Kardashians care about is the media, money and being on camera. It shows they have no sensitivity and they don’t know when to stop. They are nothing but money whores.”
That was super mean and it also seems like a really odd thing to hear from Fabio, who became famous by posing shirtless on romance covers.
He went on to say, “The wealth and power that she may have doesn’t matter. I always tell people, ‘I have more respect for somebody with no money and class than somebody who is trash and makes $1 billion.’ Now you’re trash with $1 billion.”
6. Reese Witherspoon
Reese Witherspoon is classy AF. Well, except for that whole arrest back in 2013, during which Reese asked if the cop knew who she was, implying her fame should protect her from an arrest. Quite frankly, that actually made me like her even more.
Anyway, at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards, Reese made some thinly veiled remarks about the Kardashians, and Kim in particular. In her acceptance speech for the Generation Award, she said that when she came up in Hollywood, sex tapes and nude photos were unacceptable. While the sex tapes was most likely a dig at Kim K, the nude photo remark might have actually been about Blake Lively, who had just had nude photos leaked. Reese went on to tell girls everywhere to hide their face in these photos, because duh.
She went on to say, “It’s also possible to make it in Hollywood without a reality show.” That one was very clearly about Kim K. Even the Queen of Southern Sweetness had a little something to say about Kim.
5. Trey Parker & Matt Stone
The South Park creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, will make fun of just about anyone they see deserving. The show has definitely poked fun at Kim K more than once, but the best example of them insulting ol’ Kim is the episode “The Hobbit”.
In this episode, Butters confesses that he is in love with Kim and even has her poster in his locker. Wendy explains to Butters that it is really just photoshop at work. This plot results in Wendy photoshopping pictures to prove her point.
That part was all good and well, but the other story line involved Kanye denying the fact that Kim is actually a hobbit. While defending Kim, he repeated has to call Kim and ask her why she is not a hobbit because he forgets and all signs are pointing to her being a hobbit. Like almost all South Park episodes, it was hilarious, outrageous and a great combination of lowbrow humor addressing a bigger issue.
4. Sinead O’Connor
Sinead O’Connor was not happy that Kim was on the cover of Rolling Stone. Like, really, really not happy about it. In response to Kim’s Rolling Stone cover, O’Connor posted this to Facebook: “What is this c**t (‘I don’t smile much because it causes wrinkles’) doing on the cover of Rolling Stone? Music has officially died. Who knew it would be Rolling Stone that Murdered it?”
Considering the fact that she is a talented and drive musician, I supposed one could see how seeing Kim Kardashian on the cover of Rolling Stone would feel like a betrayal, but dropping the C-bomb seems a bit excessive, right?
3. Edie Falco
In an interview, Edie Falco, best known for her roles in The Sopranos and Nurse Jackie, said, “Who the hell is Kim Kardashian? Like, who are these people, and why are they famous, and why are they advertising things and being asked their opinions about things? I just don’t understand what these people did to be in a position of having everyone ask their opinions about stuff … it’s actually frightening.”
While Kim is certainly not the most knowledgeable person to ask about those big, heavy tops, neither are any celebrities really. When celebrities weigh in on politics or world issues, you can be guaranteed that there are hundreds of other people in the world who are better informed about the situation. So, while Edie Falco is right, we also really shouldn’t be asking her to weigh in on certain things either.
2. Micheal Buble
Michael Buble is another celebrity on the list of people who apparently do not like Kim Kardashian. Back in 2011, Buble announced at a concert that he was bringing a special guest on stage… Kim Kardashian! After the audience gasped, he said, “Nah, just f**king with you! That bitch isn’t coming on my stage.”
This seems like a super odd this for him to do out of no where. He wasn’t asked about her in any interview or anything, he just made this comment on his own accord.
Being that this was right after the Kris Humphries divorce, he went on to cover Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” and dedicate it to Kris. Maybe, Buble and Humphries are, like, BFF and so his burning Kim came from a place of sticking up for his bestie. Who knows?
1. Jonn Hamm
Jon Hamm insulted Kim not once, but twice. In an interview with Elle UK, he said: “Whether it’s Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated. Being a f**king idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture because you’re rewarded significantly.”
Kim K did not take the comment from Don Draper lightly. She took to Twitter, where she wrote: “I just heard about the comment Jon Hamm made about me in an interview. I respect Jon and I am a firm believer that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and that not everyone takes the same path in life. We’re all working hard and we all have to respect one another. Calling someone who runs their own businesses, is a part of a successful TV show, produces, writes, designs, and creates, ‘stupid,’ is in my opinion careless.”
While she did come back at Hamm with a solid point and a friendly rebuttal, he was basically like, “Nah.” He simply responded, “I don’t think it was careless. I think it was accurate.”
