The entertainment industry is a fast-paced, exciting world that often doesn’t lend itself to a traditional family life. Of course, there are some celebrities who defy the odds and manage to have adorable families and excellent relationships with both their partner and their children. After working long days in the studio or on the set, they come home to their families and spend some quality time together. However, those are often the exception – it can be tough to nurture relationships in Hollywood.
Add to that the fact that most famous actors and musicians basically have their pick of any woman they want – fame and talent seems to be a powerful aphrodisiac for a certain type of woman. All those facets of a star’s career in the entertainment industry are the perfect base for quick relationships, and the result of all those flings and transient relationships is often an illegitimate child. Some celebs who fathered illegitimate children are still involved in the lives of their children, they just might not want to be involved with the child’s mother anymore. Other celeb fathers were going about their everyday lives, completely unaware of the fact that they had fathered a child during one of their previous flings – that is, until the child’s mother shows up and wants a paternity test.
Here are 10 famous men who fathered illegitimate children.
10. Liam Gallagher
For nearly two decades, Liam Gallagher was the frontman for infamous rock band Oasis, and his larger than life personality made him one of the most recognizable British rockers of all time. He wasn’t exactly known as a Casanova, but you know what they say about jerks – for whatever reason, they seem to attract women.
In his post-Oasis years, when he was fronting a band called Beady Eye, he was interviewed by Liza Ghorbani, a former rock journalist. She apparently struggled to keep things professional and at some point ended up in the sack with the rocker – and then came baby. Ghorbani allegedly was receiving $5,000 a month for child support, but that wasn’t quite enough, and she made waves (and ruined Gallagher’s marriage to Nicole Appleton) by demanding more money – like $3 million more.
9. Tom Brady
Nowadays, whenever he’s not on the football field, Tom Brady can usually be seen with his supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen. The two are a match made in heaven: both are unbelievably gorgeous, unbelievably successful at what they do and have two children together.
Remember a time before Gisele though? Back in the day, Brady dated actress Bridget Moynahan and impregnated her. The glowing mom-to-be got a nasty surprise during her pregnancy when Brady ended up trading her in for a Brazilian supermodel. While Brady seems to be a devoted father to all of his children, the scandal caused a lot of waves – no matter how much the media loves Brady, many were questioning his character during the time. After all, how do you dump your pregnant girlfriend?
8. Gavin Rossdale
Though the two have recently announced their split, for a period of time Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani were a match made in music heaven. The duo were together for over a decade and have three children together. However, before Gwen, Gavin had a fling with Pearl Lowe. Lowe was one of Rossdale’s friends, and was actually in a relationship with someone else at the time – perhaps a few too many drinks one night?
Regardless, the union ended up producing a child, Daisy Lowe, and Rossdale took a paternity test at some point to confirm the fact. Lowe is probably one of the more recognizable illegitimate children in the entertainment industry, as she ended up becoming a model and working in the industry herself.
7. Jude Law
Actor Jude Law has been a staple in the film industry for years, and he’s also the proud father to five children. Three of his children are from his marriage to Sadie Frost, and the other two are the result of illegitimate flings.
His first illegitimate child came from a fun night out with American model Samantha Burke. He had a few relatively quiet years after Sophia Burke’s 2009 birth, and then recently announced that he had a fifth child, with his now-ex Catherine Harding. Law is probably not too bothered, as he’s quite used to scandals at this point – after all, he was the one who cheated on Sienna Miller with the nanny.
6. Eddie Murphy
Sometimes, fathers embrace their illegitimate children almost immediately, only pausing to perhaps take a paternity test before handing over thousands every month for child support. And then there are celebrity dads like Eddie Murphy.
When Mel B, a former member of popular 90s girl group the Spice Girls, became pregnant and claimed Eddie Murphy was the father, he immediately denied it. Again and again. After a court-ordered DNA test confirmed what he had been denying, Murphy finally had to admit he was the father, and he had to pay Mel B a big chunk of change. Mel is happily married now and likely doesn’t care if Murphy is involved in her life whatsoever, but she’s probably relieved he stepped up for her child’s benefit.
5. Hugh Grant
British rom-com staple Hugh Grant has had his fair share of scandals over the years – who could forget the infamous prostitute incident? However, he had managed to never father any illegitimate children over the course of his long Hollywood career – until recently.
Grant became enthralled by a woman he met at a Chinese restaurant in 2011, Tinglan Hong, and they had a child together. The love affair ended not long after it began, but they reunited for long enough to have a second child, Felix. Then, another woman popped up – a Swedish television producer by the name of Anna Elisabet Eberstein. At first, Grant played the denial game with Eberstein, but eventually admitted that he was in fact a father of three. Quite an exciting couple of years for Grant on the whole child front!
There are some tales of illegitimate children that are legitimately cringe-worthy – and former rap superstar Sisqo’s is definitely one of them. Back at the height of his popularity in the 1990s, Sisqo had a one-night stand with an underage Swiss teenager. Scandal. She later stepped forward, saying that the brief roll in the sack had produced a child, and that she had been trying to get in touch with Sisqo through every possible medium in order to tell him about it.
Sisqo is still saying “wasn’t me” to the whole situation, but he might not know that things work a little differently in Switzerland – if a man denies paternity in Switzerland over and over again, they’re deemed responsible. While he may not be taking his Swiss love child out to play catch at the park, we bet that he’s been forced to transfer some of his “Thong Song” earnings to a Swiss bank account.
Often when men father illegitimate children and then go on to achieve even greater success, their baby mommas begin knocking at the door, wanting more dough – just ask Pitbull. Mr. Worldwide fathered a daughter with Barbara Alba, and for a long time was paying $3,000 monthly in child support. Sure, children are expensive, but many individuals support entire households on a similar sum – it seems more than generous.
However, Alba saw Pitbull getting a bigger and bigger slice of the fame pie, collaborating with big name artists and raking in the cash. So, she demanded that she wanted more cash, and she wanted it now. Pitbull played the good guy card, agreeing to her demands and settling out of court instead of starting up a huge battle. We never thought we’d call Pitbull classy, but that was a pretty admirable move.
2. Steven Tyler
Steven Tyler probably has one of the most known illegitimate children in the entertainment industry – after all, she’s a superstar in her own right.
When Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler was young, wild and free, he ended up having a fling with model Bebe Buell. Buell was already in a relationship with musician and music producer Todd Rundgren, so when the Aerosmith experience produced a child, she initially claimed it was Rundgren’s.
Actress Liv Tyler was raised to believe Rundgren was her father initially, but eventually learned the truth and started reaching out to Steven Tyler. Now, the two seem to have a pretty good relationship.
1. Arnold Schwarzenegger
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s illegitimate child caused quite the scandal when the knowledge became public, partly due to the crazy circumstances and fall-out. Former Terminator turned California governor Schwarzenegger was seemingly happily married to Maria Shriver, and the duo had been together over twenty years. Then, some new information came to the public’s attention – Schwarzenegger had fathered a child with the family’s housekeeper, Mildred Patricia Baena.
Apparently, Arnold knew about the child for quite some time and kept sweeping the issue under the rug. However, by the time the boy entered his teen years, the resemblance was undeniable. The fact that Schwarzenegger had cheated during their marriage proved too much for Shriver to handle, and the duo split.
