In an effort to make the Internet completely implode, I have compiled a list of some of the cutest celebrity pets. Instagram has become a great forum for getting an inside look into the lives of the “glitterati” and it comes as no surprise that a lot of celebs use the app to take cute photos of their cuddly critters. In a pre-Internet era, we’d have no way of knowing that Kylie Jenner has a pet bunny named Bruce. But, alas, we live in the golden age of oversharing. So not only do we know that Miley Cyrus has a kitty named Shanti Om Bb (yes, that is the cat’s name), but we can also follow all of Shanti’s cool cat comings and going’s on her very own Instagram (@shantiombb). This should come as no surprise.
According to Friskie’s (the cat food company), 15 per cent of all Internet traffic is related to cats – apparently people just love to look at animals on the Internet. It’s one of those rare, anomalous but universally understood phenomenon that seems to constitute our internet culture. Maybe the answer to why we are so drawn to content about cats (and dogs, bunnies, pigs, etc.) is simple: because the animals are so freaking cute and they offer us a brief reprieve from the drudgery of our own very lives.
The appeal of celebrity culture content may be similar. In effect, looking at celebrities on Instagram allows for a brief vicariousness, a way to dream about living a more glamorous lifestyle. It’s always nice to dream, to escape the monotony. If you’re interested in taking a break to check out some domesticated animals owned by an array of rich, glamorous stars then this list is right up your alley.
Get ready to “ooh”, “ahh” and “how cute” your way as we meet 13 celebs with cute pets.
13. Sirius Black – Ariana Grande’s Dog
Sirius Black is Ariana Grande‘s super cute puppy. Seen here is Sirius Black enjoying a ride on a flight. He was apparently named after a character from the Harry Potter series and is the sixth pup Grande has adopted. Ariana is a well known advocate of dog adoption.
Ariana introduced Sirius to the world writing, “sirius black (sic) newest member of the puppy posse… the (sic) puppy breath is out of this world.” Sirius is universally adored by Ariana’s rabid fan base and, in effect, a big hit on social media.
12. Olivia Benson – Taylor Swift’s Cat
Taylor Swift has an adorable, white cuddly kitten that she named after a character from the classic NBC drama Law and Order: SVU. “Detective Olivia Benson from Law and Order S.V.U. I sit in my apartment and watch hours of that show,” Swift told Teen Vogue in an interview. “So I sort of feel like me and Olivia are BFFs.”
In fact, the actress that plays Benson on the show, Mariska Hargitay, actually met the cat named after her character when she was backstage following a Swift concert. Benson (the cat) is a star in her own right, as Taylor often shares pictures with the pet on her Instagram that garner millions of likes.
11. Cecil DeLevingne – Cara DeLevingne’s Bunny
Cara DeLevingne is so hot right now with her huge modeling gigs for Fendi, Chanel, and others and even bigger movie roles like Pan and Suicide Squad, so it comes as no surprise that her pet bunny has garnered a sort of cult-like following of his own. Cecil has his own Instagram account – “run by momma.”
According to the Daily Mail, after posting two photos within four hours, Cecil was followed by more than 22,600 people in the world. Apparently Cara decided to get a rabbit when a friend, Kate Nash, praised their therapeutic and healing qualities.
10. Butters Perry – Katy Perry’s Dog
In addition to Katy Perry‘s aptly named cat, Kitty Purry, the pop star has added an incredibly cute Cavapoo (Cavalier King Charles, spaniel-poodle mix) to her collection of cute pets.
“Butters comes everywhere with us. She’s such an amazing tour dog,” she told People Magazine. As far as the dog’s name, we can only hope that he was named after South Park’s lovable Butters.
“[My assistant] is her real mom and I’m her stepmom because I don’t pick up the doo-doo yet and I don’t like things waking me up at 7 a.m.,” the star joked. If she isn’t spending quality time with cute Butters, what’s the point?
9. Bruce Jenner – Kylie Jenner’s Bunny
Shortly after Caitlyn Jenner‘s transition which shocked the world, her daughter Kylie showed off a newly adopted pet white and gray rabbit that she, strangely enough, named Bruce (seemingly out of respect and love to her aforementioned parent). Asked about how she felt about having a new pet rabbit, Kylie responded via snapchat saying, “I feel so good!”
Her purchase of the bunny doesn’t come as a surprise to those closest to her. The 17-year-old reality TV star already owns two Italian greyhounds.
8. Buddy Lovato – Demi Lovato’s Dog
Seen here is Buddy Lovato, Demi‘s little, white fur ball of a pup. Unfortunately he passed away recently. The singer used Instagram to mourn the loss of her incredibly cute little companion. “We are absolutely heartbroken to be writing this but Wilmer and I are devastated to inform you that we lost our little angel Buddy last Sunday. He was taken from us way too soon in a tragic accident and though I will never know why this had to happen, I do know that God only puts us through situations that we can handle so with that, together we our staying strong,” she wrote.
Buddy Lovato (@demisbuddy) had a pretty solid Instagram following of his own with 389,000 followers. That’s more than some famous celebs! The dog’s Instagram has pictures of Buddy in a variety of cute poses and memes. Rest in Peace Buddy, you will be sorely missed.
7. Shanti Om Bb – Miley Cyrus’ Cat
Miley introduced her cat, taking to Instagram to say, “meet the newest member of the fam and follow on Instagram @shantiombb.” Cyrus’ fans seem to have gotten the message with Shanti Om Bb having upwards of 141,000 followers on the social media site.
The bio line on Shanti’s Instagram reads, “I love you. You love me. I’m Shanti Om Bb!” According to a Daily Mail piece, Shanti is said to mean “peace.” According to Cyrus, Shanti is part of her master plan to “break the Internet.”
6. Dubois Duff – Hilary Duff’s Dog
The former Lizzie McGuire star (and current wife of former NHL star Mike Comrie) is a huge dog lover. She is often seen walking and playing with her huge Burnese Mountain Dog, Dubois.
It seems that Hilary Duff is fully embracing her life after acting, embracing marriage, motherhood and, of course, her awesome dog Dubois. Interestingly enough, Dubois has his own twitter account (@duboisduff) with over 1,000 followers. The header reads, “I’m Dubois Duff. I love my mom @hilaryduff.” As the picture indicates, Duff has many dogs.
5. Darla Hudgens – Vanessa Hudgens’ Dog
Vanessa Hudgens is a known dog lover. She is often photographed by little dog named Darla who Vanessa took the time to honor on National Puppy Day. Taking to her twitter account, Hudgens wrote of her puppy: “Happy #NationalPuppyDay! I love my little Darla so much. Idk what I’d do without her. We do everything together.”
The High School Musical star is frequently photographed by paparazzi walking little Darla in Central Park in New York City.
4. Barkley Bixby Hyland – Sarah Hyland’s Dog
Sarah Hyland plays your typical young adult, confused about her life’s direction in the hit TV series Modern Family. In the real world, Hyland is a huge dog lover and supporter of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, so it comes as no surprise that Hyland has her own furry friend to cuddle and care for.
Sarah is often seen walking her dog, Barkley, around Los Angeles. The dog was a gift from former boyfriend Matt Prokop. The dog is quite photogenic. “I don’t want him to be the world’s dog, I just want him to be mine,” Hyland told Peoplepets.com. “Every time we take a picture of him he looks right into the lens. He’d be a great dog model.”
3. Jody Husky – Riff Raff’s Dog
Jody Husky and Riff Raff are serious road dogs (bad pun, intended). You can see Jody popping up in a ton of Riff Raff’s Instagram posts and it seems like The Neon Icon is a really loving pet owner. The rapper named the dog, a Siberian Husky, Jody in honor of Riff Raff’s own Jody Highroller alias. He made his first appearance to the online world when the rapper announced “Jody Highroller and Jody Husky aka the Neon Puppy up early working on a Grammy.”
Jody maintains his own twitter account (@Jody Husky) where he has over 8,000 followers. Check out his page and Riff Raff’s instagram (@jodyhighroller).
2. Esther Bieber – Justin Bieber’s Dog
When Justin Bieber isn’t spending time making hugely successful hit records like “What Do U Mean,” you can usually find him with his trusted pooch Esther, who is rumored to be a Maltipoo or a Yorkshire Terrier. Rumor has it that he purchased the dog to alter his bad boy persona. Well, he certainly gains some points with this picture.
The Biebs’ dog is hugely successful on social media, having accrued over 31,000 followers on Twitter and over 485,000 followers on Instagram. The dog is more famous then I am. Ugh.
1. Ruby Cuoco – Kaley Cuoco’s Dog
Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco is one of Hollywood’s most well known dog lovers. She was filming a segment about how great shelter dogs were before an idea came to her. She adopted the adorable Ruby Cuoco, taking to social media to say, “so I went back and got her…welcome to the family miss Ruby!!! Thank u west valley animal shelter for keeping her safe!”
What most people don’t know is that this furry dog isn’t a puppy. In fact, he’s reportedly 5 or 6 years old. After she brought Ruby home, she said she hopes people will adopt some of the older dogs that need a home.
