Game of Thrones showrunners, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, have already stated that there are probably only about 10 to 15 more episodes left in the series. In an interview with Variety, Benioff stated, “I think we’re down to our final 13 episodes after this season. We’re heading into the final lap. That’s the guess, though nothing is yet set in stone, but that’s what we’re looking at.”
Depending on how many episodes will be slated for each season, most likely the show won’t go any further than Season 8. With a record number of viewers and the series becoming more popular than ever, this is a pivotal time for all of the actors involved and all the prospective actors hoping to make it into the series – even during the last leg of the show.
The series has been known to bring new actors onto the show, even if they aren’t given a long storyline. Even the lead actor from Deadwood, Ian McShane, made an appearance in Season 6, and he can officially add Game of Thrones to his long list of acting roles. For other actors, landing a coveted role in Season 7 of Game of Thrones would be a huge accolade for their acting career.
HBO has been known to heed the suggestions of its fans in casting choices, and Joe Manganiello credits his fans for landing him a job as the heartthrob Alcide in True Blood. In a 2010 interview he stated, “Facebook and the Internet were integral to me getting this part. There are True Blood bloggers that were fans of the books. They knew this character was coming up – that it appeared in book three – so they knew it was coming up for Season 3. They would blog about who should play the character, and some of these bloggers put up pictures of me.”
In the hopes that the Showrunners might have a few character roles still available, check out our list of 15 new actors that need to be cast in Season 7 of Game of Thrones.
15. Heather Ann Davis
Heather Ann Davis started her professional career as a model, but branched out into acting with a few short films and television series. Yet, she became a cautionary tale once she starred in Breaking Wind. Released in 2012, the film was produced on the heels of some of the other parody films like the Scary Movie series. Breaking Wind was a parody film surrounding The Twilight Saga, but the comedy didn’t exactly help perpetuate her acting career. Instead, it went straight to video, and had a number of embarrassing scenes for Heather Ann Davis playing a version of the Bella Swan character. With plenty of actors being able to recover from some embarrassing roles early on in their career, there is still hope left for Davis. With the dark hair and light eyes, Davis features a beautiful look that has a more subtle appeal. Landing a role on Game of Thrones, no matter how small, would be a great way to help Davis get back on the road to film redemption and at least add a film credit to her resume.
14. Bonnie Wright
When Bonnie Wright was first introduced to audiences through her role as Ginny Weasley in The Harry Potter film series, it was difficult to tell how she would progress in maturity and as an actress. Many of her fellow costars have gone on to pursue and further their acting careers, but Wright has stayed mostly out of the spotlight since the completion of the series. When she is seen on the red carpet, people are stunned by her new and transformed look. With fans hardly able to recognize her from her Weasley character, she would be a great addition to the Game of Thrones cast as a reintroduction to the entertainment industry. With sparkling eyes and auburn hair, she fits the description of many of the other redheaded beauties that Game of Thrones seems to favor in the series. Since Ygritte was killed off, there is a definite spot open for another fresh-faced redhead and Bonnie Wright could fit right into that spot.
13. Galadriel Stineman
Galadriel Stineman has been on a number of hit shows, including Ben 10: Alien Swarm and Glee. Yet, she has remained pretty much unknown to the general public. Although this may not be the best attribute for an actress hoping to make a name for herself, it’s certainly a great characteristic for being introduced as a new character on an already established hit television series like Game of Thrones. While she has an innocent and almost nymph-like look, she has proven that she doesn’t shy away from the more provocative roles – even appearing onscreen topless. This is another helpful attribute for a potential Game of Thrones actress, since they often require their actresses to walk out of a burning house completely nude or perform the Walk of Shame nude. Her red hair and large eyes are a winning combination for this slim- built actress, and it’s a definite plus that she isn’t afraid to get down and dirty for a role. Perhaps she can be the love interest that teaches Theon Greyjoy the true meaning of intimacy?
12. Debby Ryan
Although Debby Ryan was first introduced to audiences through her lead role in the Disney series, Jessie, she has quite an extensive acting background in Disney Channel shows. Like many of her fellow Disney stars, she has undergone a few mishaps involving the police, including a DUI charge that resulted in an accident that left the other driver injured. Yet, the public has already started to give her some slack on some of the incidents that would typically label someone a troubled youth. At 23-years old, she is starting to mature as a woman and actress, and could stand to get an acting break other than another Disney Channel role. She has a very seductive look that draws in fans, and an adventuresome spirit when it comes to expressing herself, changing her hair color numerous times- she even had it a purplish steel grey at one point. Perhaps she could play a love interest for the female-loving, Yara Greyjoy, which would make for some steamy scenes that many fans wouldn’t mind watching.
11. Mackenzie Foy
When Mackenzie Foy was first introduced to audiences through her role as Renesmee Cullen in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2, there was a lot of buzz surrounding this budding actress. Many of her costars were interviewed about how professional she was at such a young age, and people couldn’t say enough about how she would quickly become an actress to watch in future roles. Now that some time has passed, fans see her as more than just a child actress but as a young star that is just waiting for the right part. Just as the role of Sansa Stark has helped Sophie Turner in her professional career, perhaps Game of Thrones could help Foy in pursuing her acting. The HBO series seems to love highlighting the younger faces on the show, and allows those characters to grow before the eyes of the viewers. Foy could be a great addition to some of the other younger characters on the show like Lyanna Mormont and Arya Stark.
10. Vanessa Marano
Vanessa Marano is an actress that has starred in a number of hit television shows, including such hits like Gilmore Girls and Without A Trace. She is also the older sister to fellow actress, Laura Marano who has starred in a number of hit shows including Austin & Ally on the Disney Channel. While both sisters are hugely talented, Vanessa has a look that is perfect to fit the character of Tysha, Tyrion Lannister’s long lost first wife. Her dark hair and pale skin mixed with the look of innocence is the perfect realization of how the books describe her, even though she hasn’t been a huge part of the HBO series. Although she was referenced by Tyrion on a number of occasions, she is much more on the forefront of his mind in the book series by George R. R. Martin. The book series reveals that Jaime had lied about Tysha being a whore, and she was in actuality a lowborn girl that had truly been raped by the Lannister soldiers at Tywin’s behest. It would be interesting for Marano to bring the character to light in the series.
9. Bailey Noble
Bailey Noble is a young actress that doesn’t have too many roles under her belt, but has been thought of by many as having a lot of potential in her budding acting career. Best known for her role as Adilyn Bellefleur in the HBO series, True Blood, she embodied the perfect persona to make audiences believe her status as a half-fairy hybrid. With the ability to exude a look of innocence, Noble could be a great addition to the Game of Thrones cast. Since the Free Folk joined with Jon Snow to help take back Winterfell from Ramsay Bolton, there stands to be a few new faces in the Wildling camp that might become more prominent to the storyline. Since Noble has the same homely girl-next-door look as Samwell Tarly’s girl, Gilly, she would probably fit right in as one of the young girls in need of a big strong man to save her from her Wildling predicament in Season 7.
8. Nina Dobrev
Nina Dobrev is a Bulgarian and Canadian model and actress that is best known for her roles on television through Degrassi: The Next Generation and The Vampire Diaries. Proving that she is good at fantasy dramas, she spent a short time as a vampire on The Vampire Diaries series. With a youthful look and dark features, she could be a great addition to the Dothraki horde that is on the Narrow Sea with Daenerys. After Daenerys claimed the horde for her own and united the clans, there will inevitably be some new faces among the crowd. Dobrev would make a lovely addition, even if she doesn’t get a starring role on the show. Fans wouldn’t mind seeing her in a few scraps of animal hide as an ensemble, and undoubtedly her exotic look would allow her to fit right in with all the other cast members on Game of Thrones.
7. Gregg Sulkin
Season 6 of Game of Thrones was filled with a number of disappointments for fans of George R. R. Martin’s book series, A Song of Ice and Fire, since many of the key characters were left out. With Season 7 approaching, there is still time to introduce some of the beloved characters in the series. Aegon Targaryen is a huge part of the book series, since he would have been the perfect match for the Dragon Queen. Quentyn Martell would also be a good match for Daenerys since she could align herself with Dorne to overthrow the Lannisters. So, if Game of Thrones is looking for a handsome actor to fill either of these roles, Gregg Sulkin would be an excellent choice. This English actor is experienced in television acting, since he started in 2002 in the Doctor Zhivago mini-series and went on to be a Disney superstar. From the chiseled jawline to the flawless hair, he might be the perfect choice for slapping some blue dye in his hair to become the character of Aegon Targaryen in hiding on his way to meet his future bride.
6. Karla Souza
Starting her acting career on Mexican telenovelas, Karla Souza branched out into American television in a big way. Catching the role of Laurel Castillo in the hit ABC drama, How to Get Away with Murder, she showed how rare it is that an actress can get that lucky early on in starting off their acting career in America. Yet, she hasn’t forgotten about her Mexican roots, and starred in back-to-back blockbuster hit films in Mexico. Starring in three of Mexico’s highest-grossing films of all time, the last five years have been extremely busy for Souza. Proving that she can play a wide range of characters, and adding to her experience as an actress, Souza would be an exotic addition to the Game of Thrones cast. With her dark features and fair skin, she could play a number of different personas on the show. From a pirate on The Narrow Sea to a love interest for one of the more obscure characters, she isn’t so well known that she would overshadow Season 7 of the series.
5. Bella Hadid
Supermodel Bella Hadid has gained mainstream attention in recent years, since her rise to fame was depicted on the reality show, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Sister to famed model, Gigi Hadid, and daughter to Yolanda Foster and Mohamed Hadid, Bella didn’t have a huge part in the show but quickly branched out once she was signed to a high profile modeling agency. She gained even more attention when she became romantically linked to The Weeknd, and she even starred in his music video for “In The Night.” While her portrayal as an exotic dancer doesn’t exactly position her to be the next best actress in film, it did at least give fans a taste of what she might look like as a regular on the small screen. With dark features and a haunting beauty, she would be a great addition to Game of Thrones as a Red Priestess. Since Tyrion enlisted the help of the priestesses to spread the word of Daenerys’s good works in the city of Meereen, there should at least be more than a few Red Priestesses to help with keeping the peace while she goes off to conquer Westeros.
4. Zendaya Coleman
Starting off as a Disney superstar, Zendaya Coleman goes simply by her first name. With the ability to sing, act, and perform, Zendaya is a multi-talented artist that is quickly making a name for herself outside of just the Disney Channel. At just 19-years old, Zendaya has a very unique look that allows her to appear sophisticated and glamorous with one appearance and fresh-faced and girl-like in another. She would make a great addition to the cast of Game of Thrones, especially since she has a similar look to Daenerys’s trusted advisor, Missandei. She could perhaps be another character that hails from the Island of Naath or somewhere near the Summer Isles. Since they are known for being a peaceful people, she could become part of the Dragon Queen’s handmaidens or at least part of her group. With Daenerys on her way to rule the Seven Kingdoms, she is going to need more than just Missandei to keep her company in King’s Landing.
3. Lizzy Caplan
Lizzy Caplan has played a number of roles on television, and she isn’t a stranger to network TV. Starring on Showtime’s Masters of Sex and previously cast on HBO’s True Blood, she has proven that she doesn’t shy away from the more provocative roles. This is pretty much essential if you’re going to join the cast of Game of Thrones, and since she is already an HBO veteran that should give her even more of an advantage. Rather than continuing only on the small screen, Caplan has branched out to be featured in film and has even acted alongside some heavy hitters in the 2016 film, Now You See Me 2. She has dark features and a captivating look, with similar features to Robb Stark’s foreign wife on the show. She looks like she could definitely come from some exotic land like the Free City of Volantis. Perhaps she could be a woman that Tyrion encounters on the way back from Meereen with Daenerys, or maybe even a wench on one of the many ships.
2. Evan Rachel Wood
Evan Rachel Wood has been acting since she was quite young, and even made her film debut at the tender age of just 9 years old. While she’s been in a number of films, many of her acting portrayals on the big screen have been a bit obscure or in independent films. She is best known for the roles she’s played on television, and is thought of as a favorite by HBO. Starring in both True Blood and Mildred Pierce, she’s already quite familiar with the network. With her history of playing enigmatic characters, she would be the perfect addition to the Game of Thrones cast. Since the series seems to love redheads, she would fit right in. Also, she would make for a great love interest, since she is definitely comfortable with steamy sex scenes. This would help audiences see her in a new light, since she is often a bit more polished in the other roles she’s played. It would be interesting to see her in a fantasy period-drama, and definitely a plus to get to see a little more Evan Rachel Wood on television.
1. Bella Thorne
Although Bella Thorne starred on the Disney series Shake It Up, she can’t be categorized as just a Disney kid. Portraying a number of other roles on television, she was even cast on the HBO series, Big Love. Finishing up filming her newest feature- film role in the thriller, You Get Me, she seems like she has a free schedule to join the cast of Game of Thrones. At just 19 years old, Thorne has a fresh-faced look that helps her to create a wide array of characters onscreen, which is only enhanced by her super-voluptuous body. Unlike other actresses that seem pigeonholed by a particular hair color, Thorne has donned everything from dark ebony to blonde or bright red. The dark tone might best suit her for Game of Thrones, since the red color looks more like House Tully or House Stark. While there may not be any more room for another redhead Sansa Stark lookalike on the show, there is always room for a busty new female in any of the other noble houses.
