15 Most Powerful Members Of The Justice League

via comicvine.gamespot.com

Yes, we’ve all heard of the Avengers and the epic team up with heroes like Captain America and the Hulk, but across dimensions is an even more powerful team, one that deals with the threats across planets and universes on a regular basis. A team that has even gone up against literal gods themselves. I’m talking about none other than the Justice League of the DC Universe.

Comprised of some of the greatest warriors and heroes the multiverse has ever known, the Justice League was intended to bring peace and only peace. They’ve faced tyrants like the evil Darkseid, fought with terrible titans like the indestructible Doomsday, and even acted upon contingency plans when one of their own went bad. They do not hesitate to make the tough call, if it means saving the rest of humanity in the process.

Since the debut of the Justice League, there have been a large number of characters who have joined the ranks, some that have magic, some with insane strength, and some with no powers at all. They’re always standing on guard from their space station, the Watchtower, where they can analyze each threat and be prepared to act within seconds.

With such a diverse cast of heroes, naturally there would be some who weren’t very good or cleverly designed, but there are others who have the strength of gods in their hands. You think the Hulk is powerful? You ain’t seen nothin’ yet! Here are the 15 most powerful members of the Justice League.

15. Red Tornado – Force Fields And Invisibility

An android originally created to do harm, Red Tornado is the result of artificial intelligence gaining a conscience and choosing to fight for what is right. His powers consist of flight, force fields, and invisibility. However, his namesake comes from his unique ability in that he can control the winds to create massive tornadoes. On top of that, because he is an android, he is constantly being upgraded and fitted with better tech, and it also gives him a huge edge against organic lifeforms, because Red Tornado can never get tired. His only weakness is that he can be reprogrammed.

14. Firestorm – Absorbs Radiation, Blasts Fire From Fingertips

The result of a freak nuclear accident that created a massive explosion, Firestorm is the combined form of both Ronnie Raymond and Jason Rusch. When they are separated, they are normal folk with hugely differing personalities, but together, they are the fire-toting nuclear superhero known as Firestorm. They can safely absorb radiation, fire deadly flame blasts from their fingertips, and can even manipulate objects into other shapes and sizes. The only issue with Firestorm is that he is one of the most unstable members of the Justice League. Having the combined mind of two people operating at once has led to some “explosive” disagreements.

13. Vixen – Channels The Abilities Of Every Animal

If you could have the powers of any animal, what would it be? Well, luckily for the African hero Mari McCabe, she doesn’t have to choose. Given a strange totem when she was young, McCabe discovered that it channeled the abilities of every animal in existence. When she was older, she learned how to use those powers to become the savage hero known as Vixen. Because of these animal abilities, Vixen has incredibly heightened senses and has learned to trust her instincts, making her one of the deadliest members of the Justice League.

12. Cyborg – Transformative Cybernetics

The athletic Victor Stone was every man’s dream, until a freak accident caused him to lose most of his body and nearly his life. Stone’s father, focused more on his son’s scientific prowess, managed to replace the lost limbs with cybernetic parts. The end result was the hero Cyborg. Now he is instantly tapped into every single computer on planet Earth, and constantly has access to every source of information he can find. Not even hackers like Felicity Smoak would be able to keep him out. His robot extremities have increased every physical aspect of his body and even allow him to transform.

11. Aquaman – Powerful Trident

Every conversation I’ve ever been in involving this character has usually been one of mockery. When people think of Aquaman, they typically imagine a weird blond dude who can only communicate with seafood and only use his powers underwater. Not true. Aquaman is actually the king of the underwater city of Atlantis. Yes, he can communicate with underwater life, but that’s just a small taste of what he can really do. On top of being a martial arts expert, Aquaman also has increased reflexes, strength, speed, and can even fly. Also, his trusty trident is so powerful that he can even slice straight through Superman.

10. Wonder Woman – Strength, Speed, Flight

The princess of the mystical Amazons, Wonder Woman was born a fighter. However, she was always taught to keep their society a secret. That is, until one day, a group of soldiers crashed-landed on their island. After helping them get home, Wonder Woman decided it was time to reveal herself to the world. Then when she went up against evil criminals on Earth, she realized how strong she was. On top of her trademark super strength, speed, and flight, Wonder Woman can also deflect bullets through her bracelets. She also has the Lasso of Truth which she can use to force anyone to spill their darkest secrets.

9. Green Lantern – Green Rings of Willpower

“In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil’s might beware my power – Green Lantern’s light”. Deemed worthy by the Green Lantern Corps of Oa, some humans were chosen to bear the Green Rings of Willpower. The power of the rings is essentially endless, allowing the bearer to conjure whatever they can put their mind to. They can even use it to teleport across worlds, and to fly and survive through the vacuum of space. Plus, Green Lantern has the coolest oath ever.

8. Shazam/Captain Marvel – God-like Powers

Given the power of seven Gods by the wizard Shazam, Billy Batson found himself becoming Earth’s Mightiest Mortal. By just saying the word “Shazam” Billy is instantly struck by a lightning bolt and turned into Captain Marvel/Shazam. He has the strength of Hercules, the speed of Hermes, the lightning powers of Zeus, and so much more. If you make Shazam angry, you better run for the hills, because it’ll get a little stormy. Shazam’s only weakness is that when he isn’t using his powers, he is only the little boy Billy Batson, where he is incredibly vulnerable.

7. Zatanna – Magic

One the slickest magicians in all of the DC Universe, Zatanna seeks to get an audience and make herself known across the worlds. What gives her an extreme edge against her foes is that so few of them actually have a way to combat magic. And even when they do, they’re in for a real fight. Zatanna is clever, intelligent, and can pretty much do whatever she likes. However, she doesn’t let it get to her head, and has even helped to form the team Justice League Dark, which is a sub-team created to deal with magical threats.

6. The Flash (Barry Allen) – Speed Force

The fastest man alive. Sure, that’s pretty cool, but that doesn’t mean that he would essentially be one the most powerful heroes, right? Wrong. Barry Allen isn’t just your average fast man. He is the Flash. On top of circling the whole globe in mere seconds, Flash is tapped into what is called the Speed Force. This Speed Force allows him to hurl lightning bolts, travel through time, and even bridge the gap between alternate realities. He could essentially break all of your limbs and flatten you to the ground before you could even wince in pain.

5. Martian Manhunter – Strength, Telekinesis, And Manipulation

For many years people wondered whether there was life on Mars or not. Apparently DC wondered this as well, and gave themselves an answer. An old society was once on Mars full of these green beings, but they were all wiped out- all except for one that is. J’onn J’onzz came to Earth under a disguise, but once he noticed all of the terrible things going on, he revealed himself as the Martian Manhunter. He boasts the same amount of strength and abilities as Superman, with a few more of his own. He has telekinetic powers and can even manipulate the minds of his foes. Then, if you really get him going, his true form is the stuff of nightmares. Too bad his one weakness is fire.

4. Batman – Always One Step Ahead

Technically, Batman doesn’t have any powers, so it would seem a bit cheap to put him on this list, especially this high. However, Batman may not have powers, but he doesn’t need them. Batman relies on his intelligence and tactical mind to get through just about anything. He could essentially defeat any foe given enough time to prepare. He has gone up against gods and won. He even beat Superman in The Dark Knight Returns. Batman is always one step ahead of everyone else, which makes him one of the most powerful members of the Justice League.

3. Superman – The Man Of Steel

The Man of Steel was born on Krypton and rocketed to Earth after his planet was blown to bits. Then, the resulting difference in gravity and exposure to the sun made him the iconic superhero he is today. Going up against armies, gods, and practically anything else you can imagine, Superman is nearly indestructible. Even when Doomsday became the only villain to kill Superman, Superman still killed Doomsday at the same time. Because of the nature of his powers, Superman has no limits and only gets stronger the longer he is on Earth. He can tow planets, and rebuild the Great Wall of China by looking at it. There are only two heroes that are stronger than him.

2. Etrigan – Stronger Than A Demon

Etrigan is a demon that found himself allied with the forces of good. Dormant in a man named Jason Blood, all you need is a poem to bring him out. Etrigan is stronger than your average demon, having trained for hundreds of years in combat. He boasts super strength, leaping, and durability. He may not be able to fly, but he can project hellfire onto his foes. On top of that, Etrigan is also incredibly knowledgeable in various religious and occult practices, making him an excellent source when things get a little spiritual.

1. Doctor Fate – Magic, Invisibility, Immortal

He is the most powerful member of the Justice League. Doctor Fate has amassed a long list of abilities, both physical and magical. He can raise the dead, hypnotize enemies, make himself invisible, cast an illusion and so much more. There is no end to what Doctor Fate can do. He can send people to other realities and even make Superman invulnerable to magic if he so desired. He is also immortal, and equipped with super strength, durability, and flight. He can warp the multiverse as he chooses, and set the course for the rest of history. This is why Doctor Fate gets the number one spot.
