When we think of the worlds top economies, China and the U.S.A. are probably the first ones that spring to mind. Russia, however, isn’t far behind these two economic superpowers as the country is rich in resources such as oil and gas. The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin has certainly benefited from Russia’s wealth and is believed to be one of the richest and most powerful men in the world. In terms of wealth, Putin has an estimated net worth of $70 billion. For comparison, Bill Gates, chairman and co-founder of Microsoft has an estimated net worth of $71.2 billion.
As stated earlier the reasons for this massive amount of wealth is due to Russia’s massive Oil and Gas resources, much of which is exported to the European Union for fantastic profit. His power doesn’t stop at wealth however, as he is of course the President of Russia, a country with an army and arsenal to rival that of the United States. Russia possesses around 8,500 nuclear warheads, by far the largest stockpile of nuclear weapons in the world. It also has the largest tank force in the world as well as one of the largest navy fleets in the world. So whilst Russia is a strong economic power, it’s also a formidable military power. As president, Putin is the one who has the final say on all operations.
