The Miss Universe Organization produces the internationally known Miss Universe, Miss Teen and Miss Teen USA. According to the organizer the winners don't just have to be beautiful but must be intelligent, well-mannered, and cultured. The participants in these pageants are judged on three specific aspects; evening gown wear, swimsuits, and personality interviews. We have all watched and cringed while listening to some of the answers that these women give during their personality interviews and more often than not the competition comes down to looks.

Indeed every competitor is beautiful, after all this is a beauty pageant. But some of the winners are not among the most beautiful of the group and from time to time, do not deserve their title. Over the past two decades there have been questionable winners and contestants, and some have even had their crowns revoked for bad behavior. Take a look at the following entries, these women are among the most disappointing beauty pageant winners.

10. Paulina Vega Dieppa, Miss Universe

Even though this Miss Universe winner is beautiful, most people were disappointed when she was crowned at the 2014 Miss Universe pageant. Coming in at fourth place was Kaci Fennell (Miss Jamaica Universe 2014) who was adored by the crowd, and was thought to be the deserving winner. Not only was the crowd upset by the final decision, they expressed it by booing Dieppa and cheering for Fennell. The crowd weren't the only ones who loved Fennell, once the results were in, the other contestants rushed over to the fourth place winner and lifted her up, showing their preference for Fennell.

9. Keishla Villafane Rivera, Miss Puerto Rico

Miss Puerto Rico was dethroned in 2009 after allegedly making death threats to the beauty pageant staff. Miss Rivera also has the reputation of being quite difficult to work with and there is a possibility that her title as Miss Puerto Rico went to her head. Nonetheless she no longer holds her title and might want to learn a lesson about humility, even if you are named the winner of a beauty pageant that is not a good reason to treat those who help you badly.

8. Katie Rees, Miss Nevada

Now this story is just sad, Katie Rees was crowned Miss Nevada back in 2008 and was loved by the crowd. She was even enjoying the new fame and opportunities that come from such a title but that all went south pretty darn fast. Not long after being crowned, Miss Nevada had her sash taken away and the reason is horrible. Nude photos of Rees were leaked, and it wasn't long after that the images went viral, ruining any chance of keeping the story low-key.

7. Zuleyka Rivera, Miss Universe

The winner of Miss Universe in 2006 took a lot of heat and backlash from the public who did not think she deserved to win. Rumors of many plastic surgeries surfaced and it was thought Rivera made herself look like someone Donald Trump ( part owner of theThe Miss Universe Organization) would be attracted to. Wether or not she did have work done, people were not impressed, comparing her plastic surgeries to Michael Jackson. We can understand the viewers though, the winner should be a natural beauty otherwise it's not a fair win.

6. Lindsey Evans, Miss Teen Louisiana

Just 11 days shy of finishing her reign as Miss Teen, Evans had to give her crown back and the reason is quite embarrassing. While dining at a restaurant, Evans decided to skip out on the bill without paying. If this isn't already bad enough, she was also carrying marijuana at the time, two very bad examples to set for others when you are named 'Miss Teen'. Needless to say she was stripped of her title and has definitely sent a message for future winners to not carry drugs and skip out on the bill when you are 'Miss Teen'.

5. Riyo Mori, Miss Universe

It seems that the public didn’t think Riyo Mori was ugly but they certainly didn’t think she was the deserving winner of the 2007 Miss Universe. In fact some were dubbing it a huge upset. There is nothing particularly unattractive about Mori but it can be argued that she is plain looking at best. Mori also publicly admitted that she had lip injections done in order to look better. Unfortunately for her those lip injections didn’t fool the public.

4. Gabriela Isler, Miss Universe

It seems that Donald Trump is notorious for picking women from Venezuela to win the competition and when Gabriela Isler was crowed as Miss Universe in 2013 people were not happy. Fans of the beauty pageant thought that Isler had cosmetic procedures done and that she would have been prettier without it. Also the overly wide smile and the pounds of eye makeup didn’t convince the public that she was pretty either. In fact some said she was one of the worst winners in history.

3. Carrie Prejean, Miss California

This is a story that most of you will remember, back in 2009, this beauty won the Miss California pageant and was soon dethroned due to 'contract violations'. The sad part is that Prejean had a few marks against her. She made negative statements about same-sex marriage which had most people angry with her already. Then topless photos of her were leaked, but it wasn't until she missed a few scheduled appearances that the pageant had enough. She is no longer considered a winner but rather an example for future contestants.

2. Olivia Culpo, Miss Universe

The winner of Miss Universe in 2012 became the center of much controversy when other contestants started rumors that Culpo was actually born a male. Those rumors proved to be just rumors in the end and that is not the reason she makes this list. Culpo got a lot of hate when she took the crown, many people thought that the results weren't fair considering she was a semi celeb at the time. The public quickly took to the internet to bash her saying that she looked ordinary, like a little girl and only won because the contest took place in the USA. As the longtime girlfriend of Nick Jonas this winner certainly knows how to get attention, good or bad.

1. Gloria Diaz, Miss Universe

Gloria Diaz, winner of the 1969 Miss Universe pageant from the Philippines is perhaps the worst winner in terms of how upset people were when she won. It was said that she won based on her final question about welcoming the astronauts back from the moon and it appears to be evident it wasn’t based on her beauty. Now without being too vain we must remember this is a 'beauty pageant' and a large portion of what these girls are judged on is their looks. After all of that fuss, Diaz went on to become an award winning actress.
