We usually drool at the site of sports cars like Ferrari, Porsche or Jaguar. Or the modern wonders of German cars like BMW, Audi, and Mercedes Benz. Of course, there is the classic elegance of vehicles like Rolls Royce, Maybach and Bentley.

You may be surprised to know that of those mentioned above, only Ferrari appears on this list. Other brands dominate the list of the top 10 most expensive cars in the world today.

 

10. Koenigsegg Agera R – $1.6 million

 

The Koenigsegg Agera R is a mid-engine sports car created by the Swedish company named Koenigsegg. It can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 2.9 seconds with a capability to reach a maximum speed of up to 272.8 miles per hour. It has a delimiter however that caps off the car’s maximum speed to 235 miles per hour. A waiver is needed for the company to unlock this feature. The hyper car has a two-door Targa layout body style and a rear wheel drive layout. It boasts of a five-liter V8 turbocharged engine and a seven-speed dual clutch transmission with paddle shift. It also has a dynamic rear wing that is forced downward to reduce wind resistance. It is capable of producing 960 horsepower.

 

9. Lamborghini Reventon – $1.6 million

 

The Lamborghini Reventon is a mid-engine sports car that was designed using the fastest airplanes as its inspiration. Only 20 units of this model were made, with a 21st built especially for the Lamborghini Museum. The car can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 3.3 seconds. It has a top speed of 211 miles per hour. It has a two-door coupe body style and four-wheel drive layout. The car boasts of a 6.5-liter V12 engine and six-speed transmission, either in manual form or in e-gear. The car’s mechanical elements were taken from the Murcielago LP640.

 

8. Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster – $1.85 million

 

The Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster is a sports car with a two-door roadster body style and rear mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout. It has a 7.3-liter V12 M120 engine made by Mercedes-AMG and a six-speed sequential transmission. Only five units of this were ever made, though five units of a coupe version were also manufactured. 7. Aston Martin One-77 – $1.85 million

 

The Aston Martin One-77 is a sports car with two-door coupe body style and front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout. Only 77 units of this model were ever made, hence the One-77 name. The car boasts of a 7.3-liter V12 engine capable of 750 horsepower and a six-speed automated manual transmission system. It can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 3.4 seconds and has a maximum speed of 220 miles per hour.

 

6. Ferrari 599XX – $2 million

 

The Ferrari 599XX is a track car with design based on the Ferrari GTB Fiorano. It has a two-seat berlinetta body style with front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout. It has 6-liter V12 engine and a six-speed sequential transmission. The car is capable of producing up to 720 horsepower.

 

5. Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport – $2 million

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport is a mid-engine grand touring car with a two-door targa top body style and longitudinal mid-engine, permanent four-wheel drive layout. It boasts of an 8-liter W16 quad-turbocharged engine capable of generating up to 987 horsepower. The car was named after Pierre Veyron, the company’s former test driver who won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1939. The numbers represent the car’s 16 cylinders and four turbochargers. It can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in less than 2.46 seconds and has a top speed of 253.81 miles per hour.

 

4. Koenigsegg Trevita – $2.1 million

 

The Koenigsegg Trevita is a sports car with a two-door roadster body style and rear mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout. It has a modified 4.7-liter, twin supercharged V8 engine capable of using both ethanol and 98-octane petrol. It also has a six-speed transmission system. Only three units were made, as Trevita means “three white” in Swedish. The engine is capable of 1,018 horsepower. The body is made out of carbon fiber colored like diamond. It also has a carbon composite fabric.

 

3. Lamborghini Sesto Elemento – $2.2 million

 

The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento is a sports car with a two-door coupe body style and mid-engine, four-wheel drive layout. It boasts of a 5.2-liter V10 engine and a six-speed, paddle shift, semi-automatic transmission. The engine is capable of generating up to 570 horsepower. It can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in under 2.5 seconds. Only 20 units of this model were released, all of which were for track use only. The name refers to the atomic number of carbon, the sixth element, as the car extensively uses carbon fiber.

 

2. Bugatti Veyron Super Sport – $2.4 million

 

The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport is a mid-engine grand touring car with a two-door coupe body style and longitudinal mid-engine, permanent four-wheel drive layout. It boasts of an 8-liter W16 quad-turbocharged engine capable of generating up to 1,184 horsepower. It has a top speed of 267.856 miles per hour. It holds the world record for accelerating from zero to 200 miles per hour, doing it in just 13.7 seconds, or four seconds faster than the Koenigsegg Agera R.

 

1. Lykan HyperSport – $3.5 million

 

The Lebanese company called W Motors manufactures the Lykan HyperSport. It has a twin turbo, flat-six Ruf-tuned Porsche engine capable of producing up to 740 horsepower. It can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in less than 2,8 seconds. It can reach a top speed of 267 miles per hour. The car’s LED lights are encrusted with diamonds and the leather interior features 24-karat gold stitching. The dashboard has a modern interactive 3D holographic display.
