Good looks, money and a sense of humor go a long way, but a sexy luxury car can have your date all hot and bothered before you hit 60 mph. Even better, these cars don’t take long to get there!
There are many cars on the market that combine a sleek look, first-rate control and the need for speed, so much so that it may seem overwhelming to choose one. If budget plays a role that is obviously your first filter, then I would suggest the eye test. Which one fits your lifestyle? After that it’s easy, just prioritize what is most important to you (or future significant other you are looking to impress). Each of these cars is a straight-up superb automobile, but each also has their drawbacks – yes, even a Ferrari isn’t perfect, people.
What makes a car sexy is also in the eye of the beholder (or passenger) so don’t be swayed by a brand name that was cool in the eighties or talked about on Mad Men. Each year new models are born; some are improvements on existing models while others are more experimental in their design. Again, you will need to figure out what is most important in order to find your soul mate on wheels.
This list hits a lot of classic automobile makers (Mercedes Benz, Porsche and BMW) as well as some you may not expect to find on such a list (Audi and Tesla). There is something for everyone, well, anyone who is looking for their ride to impress.
11. Aston Martin DB9 Carbon White
This model also comes in black, but sometimes a car looks better in white, especially when there is black detailing. The Aston Martin DB9 Carbon White has black trim around the windows that creates a nice contrast with the white. This car looks like it might float right off the road given its aerodynamic design and race car capabilities. Inside, everything is pristine from the carbon fiber trim to the logos. This model has been around for over 10 years and has never had a need for any major changes, only minor updates. To keep things fresh the manufacturer has offered limited editions which they are doing so in 2015.
10. Audi S1 Quattro
This particular vehicle is a much smaller sports car that is modeled on the A1 hatchback, sold in Europe. Yes, this vehicle comes in both a hatchback and four-door model, but don’t be discouraged by this. The distinct Audi Quattro spoiler and wings give this car the cool look car people love. If you are looking for a car that looks hot in yellow, this one is worth a look. This is the same machine Audi has been rolling out for years with a state-of-the-art turbocharger that will keep the turbo operating at a high performance during gearshifts. It is estimated the Audi S1 Quattro will hit 60 mph in less than 6 seconds.
9. BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe
Don’t automatically discount this model because it is a four-door coupe. Okay, this is also technically a hatchback. However, you can get this in either a 240 horsepower turbo 4-cylinder or 300 horsepower 6-cylinder. So while you’re figuring out what do with the extra doors, at least you get to choose your engine which is nice. As with most BMW cars, this one has a sloped look in the front that sort of, but doesn’t really differentiate from many similar models. Where this car does well is inside. The whole center console, including the dashboard, is layered beautifully with different materials and patterns. There is even a free-standing flat-screen iDrive that is really the focus. Inside, you feel as if you are sitting in a command center.
8. Tesla Model S
If you want your luxury car to also be futuristic then the Tesla Model S should be considered. This is not only a sexy looking ride, but also an economic and green friendly electric car. It is a sedan, but the sleek look and impressive performance gives this vehicle rave reviews. There is lots of space for cargo and it seats up to five passengers. So if in addition to looks you want space, you get both with this car. The caution is of course the unknown lifespan of electric cars, given they are relatively new, especially in the luxury market. But if you have the money (the Tesla Model S average price point is $70,000) and want more from your vehicle than just speed this is a must test drive.
7. Lexus LS
You know a Lexus man because they are very proud owners and given the chance they will let you know why they love their Lexus. The Lexus LS is (like most Lexus cars) one of the smoother luxury rides on the market. The overall speed and on-road performance is a step down from others on this list; however, the interior and extra gadgets (lighted seatbelt clasps anyone?) are second to no one. The dashboard and other tricked-out accessories are there for your enjoyment as well as to impress your guests. Asking someone to ride in your Lexus LS is more than just an offer, it’s an invitation.
6. Mercedes-Benz S-Class
Mercedes-Benz has always been synonymous with the executive lifestyle, so it makes sense that the features fit this driver. This is a favorite for the powerful man with a family or who wants to impress at the country club valet. As with their other lines, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class offers several engines, trim levels and general model choices like the S65 AMG, with a 12-cylinder engine with suspension steering and brakes. What’s special about this line of luxury is the enormous amount of backseat comfort. There are also several entertainment options for the backseat to keep the kids busy or “special friends” occupied.
5. Bentley Flying Spur V8
The good news is that the V8 version is cheaper than the V12 model, bad news is you will top out at 183 mph versus 200 mph. Bummer! This model uses twin-turbocharged Audi V8 engines that range in horsepower from 420-560. This Bentley will get you 500 horsepower at 6000 rpm. The sheet metal design gives this machine a unique look for Bentley, something new and a reason for Bentley owners to add another car to their garage because, why not? Inside you essentially can have whatever you want as far as detailing, commands or entertainment options. Customization and Bentley go hand in hand just like models go with Bentleys.
4. Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge
The mid-size luxury sedan market place is competitive and Infiniti is hoping for the best with the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge. This premium vehicle uses the Nissan GT-R turbo 3.8 liter V6. Infiniti has been in the luxury market for years now, continuing to chip away business from some of the traditional brands by offering uniqueness. What jumps out with the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge is the suspension, a design that supports high performance, but also maintains a balance reserved for a luxury vehicle. Also, there are rumors this car hits 60 mph in less than 3 seconds. Thank God it has good suspension – that should keep the kids safe when you hit the gas.
3. Bentley Continental GT Speed
The twin-turbo, 6-liter W12 tops out at 206 mph. Enough said? This model also looks incredible with the side skirts, rear diffuser and front splitter all color matched. Both the lighting and wheels have been updated with tinted trimming and the inside is exactly what you would expect from a Bentley; essentially whatever you want, you can have. Driving this car is effortless; however, despite the high speeds, you also get supreme handling on the open road. This car is for Bentley lovers who want to own the most expensive Bentley coupe available. We should all buy two. Why not?
2. Porsche Panamera
The combination of Porsche Panamera’s look, the handling, power and extras put this near the top of both sexiest and best overall luxury sedans. The strangest part of that last sentence is definitely the last word, sedan? That’s right, this five-door luxury sedan is a huge market for Porsche, especially in China, its largest market. The classic Porsche 911 body gives luxury customers both a sports car as well as the space of a luxury sedan. This car has been around since 2010 and has gone through a few iterations. It now features nine models with five available engines. The speed is there, the cabin is fully loaded and most importantly, it’s a Porsche that looks like a Porsche, which means sexy!
1. Jaguar XJ
So each year Jaguar releases their XJ model and each year the reviews are the same, which is to say not too much to report on. Maybe the better way to put it is that the Jaguar XJ is timeless. The handling and powerful engine are as good as it gets, especially for the British who just can’t seem to get enough of this car. However, since 2011 the sexiness came out with changes throughout the interior, an upgrade from the classic Jag and a move into the future of luxury. The back seat is still limiting as this is more of a luxury car for the single man versus the family man, and some have reviewed the dashboard craftsmanship as subpar. Still, on the road you know this is a Jaguar. It handles pristinely on the roughest of roads and always looks good pulling into the mansion.
