The Rocky Marriages Of The Real Housewives

High Life
The Rocky Marriages Of The Real Housewives

Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise has been a gift and curse for the women who appear on the shows. Many of the women have become overnight celebrities, gaining book deals and being paid for appearances. While they soak in their success and live the high life, it appears that all of the fame takes its toll on many of the housewives’ marriages. The curse of reality television has not skipped over the Real Housewives franchise as more than ten couples have ended their marriage either during or after appearing on the show. It seems like certain cities are affected more than others, as Orange County has had four divorces while New Jersey has only had one. Whatever the reason may be, it’s always tough to have your dirty laundry aired for the whole world to see, but I guess that’s the price you pay when you want to be a star. Here is a list of eleven couples from the Real Housewives franchise that decided to call it quits.

Orange County housewife, Lynne Curtin could not save her marriage to her husband Frank, after all of the financial troubles that were aired on the reality show. One month after Taylor had filed for divorce to end their six year marriage, Russell committed suicide, as he was found hanged in the bedroom he was staying in at a friend’s house. There were reports that Russell was in great distress not just from the divorce, but he had been recently hit with a $1.5 million breach of contract lawsuit which piled on top of his huge debt issues. There were also reports of Taylor filing for divorce in order to keep her place on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, as Russell had been threatening to sue the show over comments made about him, and producers of the show were about to dump the couple as they were creating more trouble than they were really worth.

1. NeNe and Gregg Leakes- Atlanta

Atlanta housewife, NeNe Leakes has taken viewers on a rollercoaster ride when it comes to her relationship with Gregg Leakes. The couple had first met in 1996 and ended their thirteen year long marriage in 2011. At the time of the divorce Gregg had spoken out on how he had invested $300,000 into NeNe in order to get her where she is today, being as he had met her when she worked at an Atlanta club as an exotic dancer by the name of Silk. The couple has seemed to let bygones be bygones, since on June 22, 2013, the couple said “I Do” for a second time. It’s good to see a relationship get a happy ending on reality television.
