The real good ones transcend all these and can shift seamlessly between haute couture, ready-to-wear, swimsuits, print and television commercials and runway modeling. Below is a list of the highest paid runway models in the world.

10. Candice Swanepoel – $3.1 million

 

Candice Swanepoel may be known as one of the faces of Victoria’s Secret given the fact that she has constantly appeared on the cover of the lingerie company’s swimwear catalogue. The South African, however, is also a highly sought after runway model, having appeared for designers like Betsey Johnson, Blumarine, Chanel, Christian Dior, Diane von Furstenberg, Dolce and Gabbana, Donna Karan, Elie Saab, Fendi, Giambattista Valli, Givenchy, Jason Wu, Jean Paul Gaultier, Michael Kors, Oscar de la Renta, Prabal Gurung, Rag & Bone, Stella McCartney, Tommy Hilfiger, Viktor and Rolf and many others.

Carolyn Murphy began her career as a model when she was only 16 years old. She has walked the runway for designers like Dolce and Gabbana and Calvin Klein. She made history by being the first model to become the face of three CK products, namely Calvin Klein Collection, ck Calvin Klein and Calvin Klein Jeans in 2010.

Doutzen Kroes is a Dutch model who began her career as a model for Victoria’s Secret in 2004 before becoming an Angel in 2008. Her first runway show in New York was with Fendi in 2004.  She has since appeared for Blumarine, Calvin Klein, Gucci, Prada,Tommy Hilfiger, Valentino and Versace. Adriana Lima rose to prominence when she was only 15 years old after winning Ford’s Supermodel of Brazil competition. She has been a Victoria’s Secret Angel since 2000 and the Maybelline spokesmodel from 2003 to 2009. She has appeared several times on the covers of the international editions of Vogue and Marie Claire. She has also appeared on the runway several times, with her first catwalk stint in New York coming in 1997 as a model for Anna Sui. She has since appeared for designers like Giorgio Armani, Valentino and Vera Wang. She has also worked for Givency and Blumarine, becoming the face of the swimsuit company in 2011.

Her first big break was when she appeared on the runway in New York for Alexander McQueen in 1998. McQueen described her as the body, which increased the demand for her services. After signing a record-breaking contract with Victoria’s Secret, Bundchen was featured on the runway modeling for Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Christian Dior, Valentino and Dolce and Gabbana. She also closed for Givenchy in 2012 during the company’s spring-summer fashion show during Paris Fashion Week.
