Cruises are becoming one of the most popular types of vacations. In 1977, Jack Jones crooned to us about the beauty of the cruise ship named the Pacific Princess in the television series “The Love Boat.” He promised an adventure and romance for everyone. Each episode lasted an hour, but in reality of course, a cruise trip is much longer.

Here is a list of the top 10 longest cruises in the world.

 

10. Sun Princess – 104 days

This cruise trip originates in Sydney, Australia and goes to India, Dubai and Egypt. It then traverses the Suez Canal before spending a long time in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. It then proceeds to Iceland before heading to New York. It will go through the Panama Canal on its way to Los Angeles. It will also visit Hawaii, Tahiti and New Zealand before coming back to Australia. Passengers will spend 60 days at sea and 44 days in port. Cost is $19,994 per person for a double room or $29,994 for a balcony cabin.

 

9. Pacific Princess – 107 days

This cruise embarks from Fort Lauderdale in Florida and heads west by passing through the Panama Canal. It will visit San Diego, Hawaii, the South Pacific islands and Asia. It will then pass through the Suez Canal on its way to the Mediterranean. The cruise terminates in Venice in Italy. Of the 107 total days, 61 days will be spent at sea. Cost is around $17,596 per person.

 

8. Queen Elizabeth – 107 days

This is a world cruise that starts from Southampton. It will go through the Suez Canal on its way to India. It will then go to Asia, Australia and New Zealand. It will also visit the South Pacific. It then sails through the ocean towards Los Angeles. It will pass through the Panama Canal on its way to the Caribbean before the passengers can finally disembark in New York. Cost of the trip is $23,883 per person for a double room, or $31,104 for a balcony cabin. There are also suites on top.

 

7. Queen Mary 2 – 108 days

Unlike the Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mary 2 is not a world cruise in the real sense of the word. It will not visit the Western Hemisphere, as it will only go through Africa, India, Asia, Australia and Indonesia. A double room will only cost $19,578 per person, while a balcony stateroom will cost $23,328 per person. Of the 108 days cruise trip, 62 days will be spent at sea.

The cruise starts in Fort Lauderdale in Florida. It will first head south to Barbados, Devil’s Island in the French Guiana, Recife, Salvador and Rio de Janeiro. It then heads east to the remote island of St. Helena, which is known as the island where Napoleon was exiled. It will then head to Walvis Bay in Namibia, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban. It will continue its eastward journey with stops in Mozambique, Mauritius, Maldives and Sri Lanka. It will go to the Southeast Asian countries of Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam before heading off to Shanghai. It then takes a u-turn but this time, it will stop at the ports of Hong Kong, Thailand, India, some Arab states in the Gulf, Egypt and Jordan. It will then pass through the Suez Canal on its way to Corfu, before finally completing the journey in Venice. Prices for the cruise range from $45,440 to $58,800.

The cruise starts in Fort Lauderdale. It will go to Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, the Falkland Island and Antarctica. It will cross Cape Horn going to the Chilean Fjords before heading to the South Pacific. It will go to Easter Island, Tahiti, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and India. It will then head to Egypt and Jordan, traverse the Suez Canal to the Mediterranean, go to the Riviera, before heading back to Florida. Of the 112 days, only 53 will be spent at sea. Prices start at $18,999.

This starts in Fort Lauderdale and goes to the Caribbean, Brazil, Namibia, South Africa, Mauritius, Maldives, Asia, through the Arab states, Egypt and Jordan. It will then cross the Suez Canal to its final stop in Monte Carlo. Only 53 days are spent at sea. Prices range from $59,585 to $214,000.

This cruise starts in Los Angeles and will go through 28 countries, including the French Polynesia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Maldives and Mauritius. Those not in Los Angeles are flown in using a gold plated Boeing Business Jet. Dom Perignon Rosi is served during the flight and customers are picked up at the airport in a Rolls Royce Phantom. Passengers will then spend four days in Beverly Wilshire Luxury Hotel before the trip. At the end, they are also billeted for four days in an $11,000 per night apartment in Miami. Total cost of the cruise is $1.6 million per couple.

This starts in Auckland and goes to Australia, Indonesia, India and the Arabian peninsula. It crosses the Suez Canal to the Mediterranean and the Atlantic coast of Europe. It will pass through Reykjavik before ending the trip in Copenhagen. Only 24 days are spent at sea. Prices range from $79,000 to $262,000.

You can spend 11 months on a cruise for around $250,000, with free laundry service throughout the trip. The ship will visit 242 ports in 59 countries in six continents. Only Antarctica will be spared as the ship has no ice-class rating. To accommodate short-distance travelers, the trip will be divided into six chapters of 24 segments each. Each chapter is inspired by a route taken by one of the great explorers, like Columbus, Magellan, James Cook, Leif Eriksson and Marco Polo. The port calls will also be timed  as much as possible to coincide with that city’s festival. There will be 11 nights spent at ports. Passengers will also get to visit 85 UNESCO World Heritage sites.
