When you’re a celebrity, giving birth is not a private affair. Instead, it’s as if the media are in the room, up-close and reporting every detail. Thanks to this, fans can expect to learn the baby’s name and sex almost as soon as family and friends do. Here, we’ve created a line-up of some of Hollywood’s most recent and famous births.
11) Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
Rapper, Kayne West shocked the world when he announced during his Atlantic City concert on December 30th that he wanted to give a specific shout-out to his now-fiancé, Kim Kardashian. “Stop the music and make noise for my baby mama.”
Kardashian apparently did not expect him to announce the news, but with the word out, friends and family immediately sent an outpour of loving and congratulating tweets. Momager Kris tweeted, “Im a happy girl !!!!!!!!! Wowza!” and sister, Khloe, tweeted her excitement as well, “Keeping secrets is hard with so many family members! Especially when you are so freaking excited!!!!! LOVE is everything!!!!”
Albeit all of the excitement surrounding the pregnancy, viewers of the family’s reality TV show, “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” came to learn that it was anything but glamorous. The star was constantly scrutinized for her rapid weight gain and she suffered multiple complications, including preeclampsia, a condition known for chronic high blood pressure, which reportedly forced her to give birth approximately three weeks early. In the end though, the couple welcomed their daughter, baby North on June 15, 2013 and they plan on tying the knot in an elaborate wedding ceremony in Paris on May 24.
10) Prince William and Kate Middleton
On July 22, 2013, George Alexander Louis, formally known as His Royal Highness Prince of Cambridge, was born.
After learning that Middleton had given birth to a baby boy, reporters and the public who had been camped outside of the St. Mary’s hospital, waited anxiously to learn the baby’s name. This highly-anticipated news came a few days later when the palace made a statement:“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their son George Alexander Louis.”
More recently, the royal family took Prince George on his first royal tour across different countries.
9) Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky
When these mega-hot parents gave birth, they didn’t just get one more bundle of joy, they got two! Hemsworth’s wife, Pataky, who gave birth on March 18, revealed the first images of the twin boys on Instagram on March 24, with a caption that read, “You are home! Tristan and Sasha came to this world on March 18 just after full moon. Complete happiness!”
The couple have one other child together, a daughter named India Rose.
8) Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale
On February 28, the musical couple, Gwen Stefani and husband, Gavin Rossdale, welcomed their third son to the world, baby Apollo. Back in April 2012, Stefani had revealed to Marie Clare that she was afraid that she wouldn’t be able to have a third child. “I really, really, really wanted one about two years ago. And it didn’t really work out,” she said, “So. . . I feel good with what we’ve got. Everything works out how it should. You can’t plan anything, right? You can try.”
Well, looks like it worked out. And so has her post-baby workout regimes. During a performance at Coachella on April 12, the “No Doubt” singer debuted a slim, post-baby figure just six weeks after giving birth to baby Apollo.
The couple, who have been married for 11 years, have two other children, Kingston, 7, and Zuma, 5.
7) Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green
Since giving birth to her first son, Noah, and more recently, her second son, Bodhi, Megan Fox and husband, Brian Austin Green, have kept very private about their family. In fact, Fox managed to hide most of her first pregnancy, and she only just shared pictures of her growing family for the first time on a recent appearance during the “Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
“Bodhi is the little chubby one and then Noah is the one with the lips,” Fox told Ellen while showing her the photographs. She also revealed that she became pregnant with Bodhi after filming for only two weeks of her new movie, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” This caused her to spend most days on set being nauseous and on the “verge of vomiting.”
In April 2012, Fox told Cosmopolitan Magazine that she was very “maternal,” saying, “I want at least two, probably three [kids]. I’ve always been maternal. I’m a homebody – I’m not wild.” Well, looks like the beautiful actress has gotten her wish.
6) Emily Blunt and John Krasinski
On February 16, the Hollywood couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Hazel, exactly one week before Blunt’s 31st birthday. The former “Office” star chose to announce the happy news himself through a tweet, writing, “Wanted to let the news out directly. Emily and I are so incredibly happy to welcome our daughter Hazel into the world today! Happy bday!”
After only six weeks since giving birth, the couple were photographed on March 18, holding hands where Blunt debuted her post-baby body in a pair of skinny jeans and a button-down shirt that showed off her incredibly slimmed down frame.
5) Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman
There was a lot of controversy surrounding the announcement of Simon Cowell’s first child. This was due to the fact that his baby mama was none other than his friend’s wife, Lauren Silverman.
The “X Factor” judge told the UK’s Mirror that he didn’t regret the betrayal of the affair, but he said, “It is not something I am proud of or wanted to happen in terms of hurting anyone. It just happened. You have to deal with it and man up to it.”
Silverman gave birth to baby Eric approximately two months after she finalized her divorce with Andrew Silverman. On May 5, the notorious mean judge, showed a bit of his softer side by posting a picture of his son via Twitter, with the caption, “Very handsome like his dad.”
4) Kevin and Danielle Jonas
The oldest Jonas brother and his wife, Danielle, welcomed their first child, daughter Alena Rose Jonas into the world on February 2.
The proud father tweeted a sweet message: “I’m so in love with her.” Nick Jonas, the youngest brother also tweeted his love and excitement, despite the passing of their grandfather just a short time prior. “My grandfather’s memorial was yesterday. Today we welcome a new addition to the Jonas family. God is great. Can’t wait to meet my new niece.”
This is the first child for the couple, but they both hope to expand their family. “We’ll have more kids,” the “Married to Jonas” star said. “I’m just not sure when and how many and when we will, but we definitely will have more kids. We want her to have sisters or brothers or whatever we’ll have.”
3) Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis
The stunning Olivia Wilde and her funny man fiancé, Jason Sudeikis took a sweet snapshot of their first child together, Otis, who was born two weeks early on April 23. The picture, which was posted to her Twitter page, was captioned, “Ladies and gentlemen, Otis Alexander Sudeikis has LEFT the building! (I’m the building).”
The “Drinking Buddies” star fully embraced her pregnancy. She told Lucky Magazine that she had initially wanted to hide her pregnancy, but ended up showing her “badge of pride” every chance she got. She even called her pregnancy with baby Otis a “little secret friendship.”
Just a week after giving birth, Wilde was seen out-and-about with baby Otis strapped onto her chest, and then she hit the red carpet with her fiancé just 11 days after giving birth to attend the Ms. Foundation Women of Vision Gala 2014.
2) Kerry Washington and Nnamdi Asomugha
The “Scandal” star was able to channel Olivia Pope as she managed to keep the birth of her daughter, Isabelle, secret for two weeks. This is the first child for Washington and her husband, Nnamdi Asomugha, who welcomed her into the world rather sneakily on April 21.
The baby-gladiator was said to be the “best date of the night,” a gushing Washington said during the 2014 Golden Globes, calling her pregnant belly, “my little accessory.”
Baby Isabelle did cause some hiccups though, particularly to the filming of the third season of the hit show, “Scandal.” The show still went on, but there were fewer episodes – from 22 to 18 – and most of the shots of the star had to be from the waist up in order to hide the pregnancy.
1) Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler
On May 7, the former “Hills” star gave birth to her second son, Jaxon Wyatt Cutler. The mother of two shared the news via Instagram, where she posted a picture of little booties and a baby hat, along with the caption, “Welcome Jaxon Wyatt Cutler 7lbs 11oz 5/7/14.”
