Dogs, watch out – men just may have found a new best friend in the cat. With their unique personalities, independent spirit and of course, their unequivocal cuteness, who wouldn’t want to have a feline sidekick?
Since ancient times, cats have been bunking with people. Scientists believe that humans didn’t actually domesticate cats, instead cats just decided to invite themselves in, and people fell in love with their rodent control capabilities and their amicable personalities. Since then, cats have found themselves woven within human history and folklore – from Egyptian gods to Salem witches.
Today, of course, there’s the crazy cat lady myth, but it turns out everyone can be crazy about cats. Author and cat man, John Scalzi sums his view on men and pets. He told the NY Times, “If you’re feeling insecure about your space in the world, you get a dog because he will always back you up. He’s the insecure man’s best friend.” A man who own cats, however, is confident and secure. “He’s sharing his space with a predator.” With that in mind, who says cats are just for old women? Felines make the perfect pet for every demographic, including these Hollywood men.
