Celebrities sometimes find themselves in sticky situations just like the rest of us. The only difference is that their punishment is often times not as severe as the public’s would be. Most of the time, celebrities end up having to serve time on probation and pay fines so light, they would not even flinch. Unfortunately, if the unlucky celebrities have been invited to spend time in a detention facility, they end up having to serve a jail time of a mere 1 day. But they should not even worry about that! Often, they are released after barely an hour! When a celebrity commits a crime involving someone not in the public eye, the sentence of the commoner is considerably harsher. It is as though they live in an alternate reality. Judges should know that slight slaps on the wrists prove ineffective when dealing with reoffending celebrities. We only need to look at Lindsay Lohan, Robert Downey Jr., Nicole Ritchie and Paris Hilton. Other celebrities come into the spotlight with a background in the criminal system, like Kid Rock. Perhaps some stars see it as a complimentary way of publicity. And maybe others are looking for a new idea for their next hit album. As they say in Hollywood, there is no such thing as bad publicity!
