As we all are aware, celebrities are extremely influential on the society in which we live in. Celebrities are known as the trend setters of our generation and there are some celebrities who can’t resist but to stand out from the crowd. It seems as though in Hollywood, everyone is trying to one-up each other; they drive nice cars, live in big homes and wear designer clothes from head to toe. We as “normal people” are so intrigued by the lives of these celebrities we almost become obsessed with their lives. So naturally, when we find out one of our favorite celebs is saying “I Do”, there is nothing we want to see more than what she will be walking down the aisle in.
For most women, wearing white is a must at their weddings, however for the following celebrities, it was not an option. The following are all beautiful stars who opted for something more unique on their wedding day. There is no rule stating that you HAVE to wear white on your wedding, however for some reason every girl thinks there is. The following ten trend setters all looked stunning on their big day and they all had one thing in common, none of them wore an all-white gown!
10. Kaley Cuoco
Kaley Cuoco is the star of the hit television series The Big Bang Theory. She is beautiful, witty and talented. In 2013, she brought in the new year by saying “I do” to the love of her life, tennis star Ryan Sweeting. Cuoco and Sweeting fell in love very quickly and wanted to share a fairy tale wedding, which they most certainly did. The room was filled with exquisite white roses and of course a lot of love. Kaley Cuoco, who has always had a unique style, decided to spice it up by not wearing a white gown. Instead she walked down the aisle in a pink strapless ball-gown designed by the talented Vera Wang. Cuoco really did look like a fairy tale princess and her prince was very charming.
9. Shenae Grimes
Many Canadians recognize Shenae Grimes from Degrassi: The Next Generation and others may recognize her from Beverly Hills, 90210. In 2013 this young starlet married Josh Beech. I don’t think anyone knew what a risk taker Grimes was when it came to fashion because friends and family were shocked with her choice to wear a black lace and tulle gown down the aisle. Although this couple has just recently tied the knot, the pair is apparently more in love than ever. We love what a risk she took with her wedding gown, however we can’t help but wonder if she could have found a nice black gown…as long as she liked it that’s all that matters.
8. June Shannon
Okay so maybe June Shannon aka Mama June aka Honey Boo-Boo’s Mom is not exactly an A-list celebrity; she is still a celebrity (sadly). When June Shannon announced that she was going to be walking down the aisle, everyone was anxious to see what she would be walking down in. I think she shocked the world when she wore a full out camo gown to her wedding. “Sugar Bear,” the man she married, wore a matching camo suit. Just when you thought Honey Boo-Boo and her clan had reached its peak of tackiness, Mama June pulls out this mess. But hey, who am I to judge? If the bride loved it, that is all that mattered.
7. Amber Tamblyn
Amber Tamblyn married the talented and hilarious David Cross in 2012. The couple who have been together since 2009 are one of the most down to earth couples in Hollywood. This couple may seem like they don’t have much in common, however they are said to be a perfect fit regardless of the age difference. The star of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants has always marched to the beat of her own drum, much like her character in the movie. The couple had a very low-key and quaint wedding on October 6, 2012 where Amber wore a canary yellow dress and paired it with her bare feet, making her simple wedding, simply perfect.
6. Anne Hathaway
Anne Hathaway won the hearts of Americans when she starred in The Princess Diaries in 2001. From there she made herself known and now in 2015 she is a household name. She has appeared in numerous hit films like The Devil Wears Prada, Love and Other Drugs, Batman: The Dark Knight Rises. This beauty wanted to be different on her big day and decided against a traditional white wedding gown. Instead, she wore an extravagant custom made pink Valentino gown. Hathaway wore this dress to marry Adam Shulman and he stated she was the most beautiful bride he had ever seen. This beautiful off the shoulder silk and tulle gown was paired with a pink hand-painted train which was embroidered with satin flowers.
5. Reese Witherspoon
Once upon a time, Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe were America’s sweethearts. The pair were married for eight years and together they brought two stunning children into the world. However, their marriage was not as perfect as it seemed. Shortly after winning her Academy Award for best actress the couple called it quits. Thankfully, Witherspoon remarried to the handsome Jim Toth. Although Toth and Witherspoon had a beautiful wedding, she did not feel comfortable wearing white for her second trip down the aisle. Instead of white, Reese chose a gorgeous blush-pink dress designed by Monique Lhuillier. Lets hope the pink dress brought her better luck with this husband.
4. Gwen Stefani
Gwen Stefani is by far one of the cutest and best-dressed ladies in Hollywood. Her incredibly unique style is what made her so famous. She gained popularity as the lead singer in the band No Doubt and from there her empire grew. She is a fashion designer, mother, singer, judge on The Voice and so much more. She decided to take her love and passion for fashion and turn it into a brand, L.A.M.B. Gwen Stefani has always stood out, which is why it is not surprising that when she married her hubby, the gorgeous Gavin Rossdale she did so in unique fashion. Stefani wore a gorgeous Christian Dior dress, which was designed especially for her by John Galliano. The dress was white at the top but faded into pink in the bottom.
3. Elizabeth Taylor
Elizabeth Taylor is considered one of the last stars to emerge from old Hollywood. Known for her beauty and style, she captured the world with her class. Her violent eyes and stunning diamonds are what she is known for. Taylor, who was also know for her love of getting married, was no stranger to weddings. She was married eight times to eight different men, which is why she began to get creative with her outfit choices. She has had eight different dresses including a brown and green one. In 1991, when she married Larry Fortensky, she chose a yellow lace dress. Talk about switching it up!
2. Dita Von Teese
Dita Von Teese is a trend setter and style icon. The burlesque dancer, costume designer, model and entrepreneur is known for her pin up beauty and unique style. She is single handedly credited for popularizing burlesque performances. Another reason why people know about this diva is that she was married to the controversial musician Marilyn Manson. When the pair tied the knot it 2005, and “fashionistas” around the world were anxiously waiting to see what she chose to walk down the aisle in. To no one’s surprise, Von Teese did not wear white; instead she rocked a stunning Vivienne Westwood gown, which she paired with a bouquet of red roses.
1. Sarah Jessica Parker
Sarah Jessica Parker is a great actress who is known to most as Carrie in Sex and the City. Parker is truly a modern day style icon and has always been creative when it comes to her outfit choices. In 1997, Sarah Jessica Parker said “I do” to Matthew Broderick. The fashionable bride decided to wear the complete opposite of white and rocked a black gown down the aisle. Although many say that wearing black to your wedding is considered bad luck, this couple is proof that it isn’t. They have been happily married since then and have three gorgeous children together. Maybe more brides should wear black!
