Things are often over-exaggerated in Hollywood when feuds are concerned. Why? Well, thanks to all the blogs and media outlets who are chasing their next big story, things are often taken out of context and the so-called celeb rivalries are made bigger than what they really are. Unfortunately for these famous celebs, when they start to feed into the allegations that are made against them through unknown sources stemming from news outlets, the feuds can often turn nasty. For blogs and newspapers in particular, they often stress that their “sources” have the exclusive information on whatever the hot topic is — note that the “source” is usually the editor’s niece, who just made up nonsense to ignite the drama even further. There’s never an actual source with credible information, who actually knows the situation on whoever’s feuding. Since nothing is kept public these days, social media has taken over, meaning that whenever a celebrity gets caught up in a measly feud, it is often taken out of context because everybody has their own input, causing the people involved to behave even more erratic to make the situation bigger than what it really is. Below are ten celebrities who have been caught up in feuds that were totally over exaggerated, either by social media or news outlets.
10. Drake and Meek Mill
A week after his album release in July, Meek Mill was angered by the fact that his industry pal Drake, had not Tweeted about his record, in hopes that his fanbase would continue to support his music just like Mill has been doing for Drizzy. Meek was furious over the fact that Drake had not supported him, so much that he went on to claim that the 28-year-old has ghostwriters writing his music. The feud was over exaggerated for the fact that Drake may have not been on Twitter all week, so his intentions to not support Meek’s album may not have been entirely true. Either way, fighting over a Twitter link is surely pathetic in itself.
9. Selena Gomez and Kendall Jenner
Selena Gomez has had several feuds with Kendall Jenner over the course of the years, and it’s always been down to Justin Bieber. The media has alleged that Kendall had been hooking up with Justin while Selena was at home, patiently waiting for the singer to return to their Los Angeles mansion. Of course this was over exaggerated because Kendall has said it herself, she has never been in a relationship with Justin, adding that they’re nothing more than great friends. As for Selena, if she wants to bicker and fight with Jenner over something that’s not true, then that’s up to her.
8. Cheryl Cole and Nicole Scherzinger
Cheryl Cole and Nicole Scherzinger’s feud came about when Nicole was said to have approached the UK X Factor judge back in 2009, stating how much of a fan she was of the Girls Aloud band member. In her autobiography, Cole claims that Scherzinger was almost like an obsessive fan, recalling the time when she wouldn’t leave her alone, “It was just so awkward, and every time I stood next to her she started singing it again. I thought how that would be like me going up to Britney and singing the whole of Baby, One More Time in her face.” Nicole claims that this incident never actually happened, though she still respects Cheryl as an artist.
7. Khloe Kardashian and Amber Rose
Khloe Kardashian wasn’t too happy to see Amber Rose slam her 17-year-old sister, Kylie Jenner on The Breakfast Club, insinuating that Kris Jenner was a bad mother for not being able to take care of her teenage daughter properly. The words didn’t seem to come across as mean or nasty, but more so as her way of expressing the truth. Khloe looked at this differently, beginning to call Amber names such as a former stripper who shouldn’t judge others, before proceeding to bash the model by naming her nothing more than a cheap w***e. The two were seen clubbing together two weeks later. The social media drama clearly wasn’t that serious to them.
6. Azealia Banks Vs. The World
Azealia Banks has caught a lot of slack in recent years. There’s no doubt that she’s very opinionated, and that things are sometimes taken the wrong way, but whenever she’s caught up in some drama, it’s always over exaggerated. During her feud with Iggy Azalea, Azealia claimed that the Fancy songstress only made it as far as she has because she is light skinned and has her music written by rapper, T.I. While the comments are rather scandalous, several news outlets ran with the story that Banks hates Iggy because she’s light-skinned, referring to her as a racist. That clearly was not the case, and while Iggy and Azealia have still not seen eye to eye since those comments were made, the two have ended their beef and have not mentioned it in almost a year.
5. Taylor Swift and Katy Perry
Taylor Swift and Katy Perry have been seeing some bad blood, according to the former country songstress herself. Nonetheless, it’s actually not as serious as one might think. Thanks to the dozens of blogs who spin stories to their likings, it has often been claimed that Katy absolutely hates Taylor because she once dated John Mayer, the same man who dumped Taylor seven years ago. There’s no truth in that whatsoever. Taylor and Katy are not on good terms for the fact that Katy reportedly stole Taylor’s backup dancers, but if their feud was as bad as the media portrays it to be, why haven’t the two fought it out yet? After all, they are constantly running into each other at award shows.
4. Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian
Paris Hilton was said to have been extremely jealous because Kim Kardashian stole her shine when she landed her own reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, in 2007. The TV-program has been running for eight years and is still known to be one of the highest-rated reality shows on television. Meanwhile, Paris is holding onto the little fame she has left while Kim continues to dominate her lane, at least that’s what many want you to believe. Paris and Kim are actually reportedly still good friends, having just recently spent quality time with one another on a yacht. Hilton has often expressed that she is happy for her former stylist, stressing that there’s no tension between the two. As for Paris’ business ventures, she just recently launched her latest fragrance, and plans on expanding her clothing empire in several different countries over in Europe for 2016.
3. Justin Bieber and Orlando Bloom
Justin Bieber was not too happy when he found out that his on-again, off-again girlfriend, Selena Gomez, had been spending time with actor Orlando Bloom. Bloom, whose ex-wife, Miranda Kerr, was believed to have gone on a date with Justin, allegedly made himself available to Gomez just weeks after she decided to part ways with the Believe singer. It was often reported that when both men were at the same parties, or at the same events, Justin and Orlando would always be looking for each other so that they could fight it out. But truth to the matter is that Bloom and Bieber never even had the intentions to start a fight, simply because Orlando never even dated Selena. According to credible reports, Bloom has just been a good friend to Selena ever since she broke up with Bieber.
2. Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey’s time on American Idol may not have been the best look on either of their careers, but their feud was definitely over exaggerated for publicity purposes. It is a given fact that the twosome didn’t get along as well as they had hoped, having previously worked together for their music video, Up Out My Face. But with producers trying to create a dramatic scene for the sake of the show’s ratings, Mariah and Nicki were constantly put against one another to entertain viewers at home. Nicki has stated in the past that she doesn’t have any bad feelings towards Mariah and agrees that the show had both of them fight like cat and dogs, when in fact, they both respect one another.
1. Zayn Malik and One Direction
One Direction fans weren’t too happy to see Zayn Malik confirm that he had landed his record deal as a solo artist, adding that he can finally make “real music” for his remaining fans. The comment was supposedly taken out of context as fans felt betrayed as to why their idol would bash the band that has helped him get to the position that he is currently in. Malik went on to reassure his Directioners that by “real music,” he simply meant music that is coming from his heart — music that will finally show people why he wanted to be a solo artist.
