Oh, how the mighty have fallen. While many of Hollywood’s finest are adored by people all over the world, others find themselves making the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Last year, everyone was talking about Adele’s latest album being released, more than 50 women accused Bill Cosby of sexual assault and Caitlyn was introduced to the world for the very first time. So far this year, hip hop artist and music producer Kanye West, presidential candidate Donald Trump as well as artist Nicki Minaj have stolen the spotlight by grabbing the headlines with both hands. Perhaps they’re the kind of people that believe no publicity is bad publicity and go out of their way to get people talking.

There are some celebrities out there who seem to honestly believe that being unpopular is popular right now. In their defense they would get trending status on Twitter and create a viral frenzy increasing their notoriety across the globe.

We’re about to reveal the Top 10 Most Hated Celebrities of our Generation. Some are surprising and some should even be included twice as they’ve become the most buzzed about stars of our generation. They’ve been ranked from slightly bearable to simply hated as there’s no middle ground when it comes to some of the biggest names in Hollywood.

10. Tom Cruise

Perhaps it was inevitable that Tom Cruise made the list as it’s no surprise that he evokes mixed reactions from people just at the mere mention of his name. It may date back to his outburst on the Oprah show many years ago where he threw a love tantrum on her couch declaring his feelings for his then wife Katie Holmes. Alas his overpowering ways and control took its toll and their relationship resulted in divorce. He then turned all his attention on to his fierce beliefs in Scientology which rubbed people up the wrong way as his unwavering outlook evoked unpleasant reviews from the masses. The final nail on the coffin has to be his insecurity about his height. At just 5’6”, Tom Cruise is not tall by any means but to wear heeled shoes and forbid his other halves to not wear heels is one step too far.

9. Simon Cowell

Ranking in at number 9 is none other than Simon Cowell, famous for his part in hit reality TV shows such as Britain’s Got Talent, The X Factor, and American Idol. His sharp tongue, low V-neck tees and Hollywood-white teeth have made him famous to the masses but Simon sure knows how to lose friends and keep enemies. King of the eye roll, Simon Cowell knows how to pack a punch when it comes to his scathing critical remarks as a judge earning him the title of being everyone’s favourite talent-show villain. We look forward to seeing what lies ahead in Cowell’s plans for world domination.

8. Chris Brown

There are few celebrities out there who are more controversial than Chris Brown. He began to lose popularity votes when details came to light about the night he brutally attacked his then girlfriend Rihanna. The notorious singer lost the respect of some of his fans and was lucky to salvage his career. He then went on to have a lawsuit filed against him for misdemeanor assault as a result of a homophobic altercation in 2014 and in the same year he was kicked out of rehab and sent to jail, later being sentenced for his violation of the probation ruling. He was given an early jail release and court documents revealed Chris has a bipolar disorder. When an artist gets to a certain level of stardom they seem to automatically invoke a polarizing effect and Chris Brown certainly knows how to get the world to both love and loathe him.

7. Ariana Grande

Not many would of have predicted that this petite beauty would have made the list but following her doughnut-licking, America-hating scandal it may not seem so surprising after all. The media have been anything but forgiving and #DoughnutGate is still a popular hashtag. The 21-year-old singer ought to have known better before she went on to lick unpurchased doughnuts on a display rack not once but twice while the staff weren’t looking. She then went on to utter the unforgettable words “I hate Americans. I hate America” and the rest they say is history.

6. Kanye West

So much can be said about our next celebrity Kanye West who many wish could be included in this list for all eternity. Many believe that money, power and his image mean more to him than respect and credibility and his over-inflated ego. After all he’s hardly redeemed himself since the video awards drama with Taylor Swift before re-igniting that fire with his brave choice of lyrics for “Famous” and his Twitter meltdowns. The self-proclaimed “biggest rock star in history” sure has a long way to go before he escapes being included in this list and gains a ranking on a more favorable one

5. Taylor Swift

Whilst Taylor Swift may be one of the top artists making it big on the charts right now, not everyone wants to call themselves a “Swiftie.” It seems the pop princess is one of those celebrities that people either adore or hate and while everyone has different tastes not everyone is on Team Swift. She’s found herself on the receiving end of some unfamiliar Bad Blood and we can’t help but hope that the 25-year-old will be able to “Shake It Off” before she sees “Red.”

4. Justin Bieber

Poor Justin Bieber – the guy just can’t seem to catch a break. For a star with so many fans worldwide it’s surprising he has managed to earn his spot in the rankings as one of the most hated celebrities of our generation. Granted he made the headlines more for his poor life choices than for his music abilities and he did earn himself a DUI case as well as an arrest for vandalism and reckless driving. Justin was also the man behind his neighbor’s house being egged. You think someone that rich, famous and successful won’t egg your house next? In the words of Justin Bieber – never say never…

3. Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian is a reality TV star, a fashion designer, an author and a model but she is probably best known for dominating social media. You can see her in the popular reality TV show Keeping Up with the Kardashians and see even more of her on Instagram. Her naked selfies have caused quite the stir and love her or hate her, you’ve probably looked at all her pictures. Only a Kardashian can break the internet and then go on to being ranked one of the most hated celebrities of our generation in the same breath.

2. Donald Trump

Who on earth could possibly find a reason to not like The Donald? Oh just everyone. Well just about. The presidential candidate has earned himself more than just a few disgruntled fans after his callous remarks about terrorism and his political standings. He’s not just outrageous but borderline racist and offensive. At least we can always rely on Trump for providing us with the most ridiculous quotes. He is the King of Controversy and was once quoted as saying “One of the key problems today is that politics is such a disgrace. Good people don’t go into government”. We couldn’t agree more…

1. Bill Cosby

Coming in hot at number one is without a doubt the rise and fall of America’s favourite TV dad – Dr. Cliff Huxtable. The rise and fall of Bill Cosby has been well documented and the paparazzi and local and international media were quick to showcase his downfall which continued with a vengeance throughout 2015 and into 2016. More than 50 women came forward with sexual assault allegations against the comedian and actor who recently admitted to giving administering the Quaalude drug to women. This will be a long road for Cosby, who has gone on to become one of the most hated celebrities in the history of Hollywood.
