Virtual reality is all about breaking taboos, blurring the boundaries between reality and fiction. With ever more sophisticated gameplay and lifelike, stunning graphics appearing year on year, we’re all habitually indulging in more and more elaborate and life-like fantasy scenarios. The competition to release the most beautiful, most cutting-edge game is fierce, so companies like Microsoft and Sony are constantly upping the ante to win over a demanding gaming public.
The gaming industry brings in over $10.5 billion of revenue annually, and it’s estimated that 1.2 billion people in the world play video games regularly – that’s about 1 in 6 people worldwide. So it’s not surprising that gaming companies are pushing boundaries in inventive ways, to vye for the biggest chunk of this lucrative market. That includes creating the most visually interesting characters, the best storylines – and the sexiest gaming experience.
What we’re looking at here are the sexiest of the sexy video games. By “sexy,” we don’t necessarily mean to say that these games have the stonecold-hottest characters (although that can certainly be part of it), or that they simply boast the best graphics. The title of ‘sexiest’, in gaming parlance, is more of an all-encompassing accolade: The following 15 games have the graphics, the characters, the sex appeal, the storyline and the gameplay that make a game truly sexy. Of course, while ‘sexy’ is a necessarily subjective term, all these games are indisputably addictive, involving, and seriously hot and heavy.
10. Heavy Rain
“Heavy Rain” is a PS3-exclusive game developed by Quantic Dreamer and released in 2010. It is often described as an ‘interactive drama,’ where players switch between four main characters to try and catch the elusive Origami Killer. Known for its cutting-edge graphics and cinematic feel that used motion-capture technology and a game engine that supported real-time rendering, “Heavy Rain” is also known for the fact that its realistic and attractive characters engage in long, interactive sex scenes, where players control the characters’ movements to get it on…
9. L.A. Noire
“L.A. Noire,” released in 2011, was inspired by the super sexy film-noir detective movies of the ’40s and ’50s, complete with fedoras, gangsters, and beautiful femmes fatales. Players take the role of private eye Cole Phelps as he travels through Los Angeles solving cases. He often has to interrogate suspects for clues, and that’s where the graphics of this game shine: Characters’ faces are so richly designed that players can notice glances, twitches, and winces to help in determining lies and clues.
8. BioShock Infinite
Set in 1912, “BioShock Infinite” players take on the role of Booker DeWitt, a former Pinkerton agent who is sent to the floating air city of Columbia to find and rescue a young woman named Elizabeth. She acts as an AI sidekick, but rather than getting in the way or adding dead weight to the story, Elizabeth ends up playing a very important role, adding a lot to the game – while also being very nice to look at. The graphics and world are great, and the chemistry-packed relationship built between Booker and Elizabeth is largely why “BioShock Infinite” is so high on the list of gaming sexiness.
7. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
“The Witcher 2” was developed by CD Projekt RED and released in 2011. Players take on the role of Geralt, a witcher by trade (AKA a monster killer), who travels along with Triss Merigold, his beautiful romantic interest. There is plenty of life-like nudity, sex, and personality in this exquisitely realized and corrupt world, with multiple paths, storylines, and multiple endings. This game just oozes sexiness.
6. Luxuria Superbia
“Luxuria Superbia” is a sleek, sensuous game on the Steam network. It’s self-described as a “simple game of touch, pleasure and joy made for fingers on touchscreens and joysticks on computers.” The game is a strange musical journey through exciting tunnels of exploding designs. As you glide through the tunnels with your fingers, the designs react to your gestures and explode into beautiful hearts, flowers, and other things. The wonderfully strange music is mixed in real-time while you play. This sensuous interactive experience between computer and fingers begs to be played, although no one can really pin down why it is so exhilarating or addicting. There are some theories about the what the soft, pink imagery evokes, of course – and it sure feels sexy.
5. Tomb Raider
You can’t write an article about the sexiest video games without mentioning the queen and instigator of video game sexiness: Lara Croft. Each new addition to the popular franchise has Lara looking more and more lifelike, with the 2013 game being the pinnacle of success and beauty. The 2013 game is a reboot of the series, establishing the origins of Croft. The graphics are amazing, and, as always, Lara is a complete knockout and a total badass.
“Catherine” is an obscure, adult-oriented horror, romance, and puzzle adventure game from Atlus. This strange game was created by the same team responsible for Persona 3. Players take on the role of Vincent, who is dealing with his girlfriend Katherine after an affair with a girl named Catherine. Following the affair, Vincent has nightmares, which introduce the puzzle and logic aspect of the game. He must push and pull blocks to create a path leading out of the nightmares. The choices Vincent makes in his real life affect the route the story takes. The graphics are an eroticized anime style, and the enticing story and themes of relationships, commitments, and infidelity contribute to making this game absurdly sexy.
3. Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag
This 2013 historical action-adventure game was developed by Ubisoft and released in 2013. Set in the early 18th century during the Golden Age of Piracy, players take on the role of notorious pirate Edward Kenway, as he swashbuckles his way through the open world. There are pirates, knights, brothels, women, nudity, booze, and Anne Bonny, the gorgeous pirate lass. With all of those ingredients, it’s hard to imagine something other than a downright sexy game.
2. Grand Theft Auto 5
Grand Theft Auto really set the standard for open-world traveling, and the fifth edition only furthered the grit, grime, and sleeze. With strippers and brothels open for business, bikini-clad chicks and tough dudes with guns and drugs, GTA5 really blew the lid off the competition when it was released, becoming the fastest-selling entertainment product in history! It earned a staggering $800 million in its first day, and over $1 billion in its first three. At the end of 2013, most gaming publications had this one as the Game of the Year, and it’s easy to see why: GTA5 lets people live out their violent and downright insane fantasies, all mind bogglingly realistically rendered on-screen.
1. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
“Skyrim” helped set the bar for what videogames are capable of – both graphically and gameplay-wise – in our technologically advanced world. Released in 2011, “Skyrim” was met with critical acclaim due to its expansive world, gorgeous graphics, and refined character development system. The characters are attractive, powerful, and look amazing. These days, players can install stunningly realistic mods, including ‘adult-only’ mods that offer fully nude models for both male and female characters. There’s also a prostitution mod that lets you have sex with NPCs. Some devoted fans of the game believe the novelty mods dilute the game’s severe, dark overtones while many others just can’t help but ogle those skimpy battle armours…
