Do you like to play doctor or nurse? Do you like to see your lady wearing a nurses’ outfit? Well, I’ve got some hot ladies to show you today to get you into nurse fantasy zone!
Medical dramas are one of the most popular genres on TV. It’s a very versatile setting that can tell so many different types of stories. There is an unending array of medical conditions and patient stories to talk about. There are also endless events and stories that can develop the doctor and nurse characters. Grey’s Anatomy started off telling the story of a group of doctors on a surgical internship. The series goes on to tell the story of their residencies and eventual board certifications for all of them. ER was a classic show following a group of emergency room doctors and all of their struggles. House was the sarcastic, crass genius diagnostician who had a revolving trio of assistants.
Today, I’m presenting the top 15 hottest doctors and nurses in TV shows. I’m not limiting it to medical dramas either. Many other shows in other genres have doctors as well in the inevitable situation where a character goes to the hospital and/or doctor’s office.
15. Dr. Remy “13” Hadley – House M.D.
Here we have the famous 13 from House M.D, played by Olivia Wilde. House was a different brand of medical drama. It followed the surly, but genius Dr. Gregory House (played by Hugh Laurie). Dr. House is a brilliant diagnostician who helps solve the medical cases that other doctors can’t figure out. She was brought in during season four of the show when House set up a kind of competition to find three new doctors for his team. She ended up serving on his team after she made the cut in his “game.” Her character has a rare autoimmune disorder called Huntington’s disease. Later in the show, she participates in the clinical trial of a new drug being developed for people with the disease.
14. Dr. Allison Cameron – House M.D.
Next, we have one of Dr. House’s original team members, Dr. Allison Cameron, played by Jennifer Morrison. She was in the original team of three doctors that helped House solve his cases. Dr. House solves medical puzzles all the time, but he hardly ever talks to his patients. His team took care of the patients and served as a sounding board for Dr. House to bounce his ideas off of. There were many scenes of the four of them pouring over ideas in the office on the whiteboard. Dr. Cameron dated, and eventually married one of her colleagues: the handsome blonde, Dr. Chase.
13. Dr. Christina Yang – Grey’s Anatomy
First up, we have the lovely, smart, and sarcastic Dr. Christina Yang from Grey’s Anatomy, played by Sandra Oh. She has been on the show from the beginning until, unfortunately, her character got written off last year. She started in the same intern class with the show’s title character Dr. Meredith Grey. They started learning how to be doctors together, and they ended up rooming together for a long time. They went through so many disasters together: the person with the bomb inside, the ferry boat crash, the plane crash, and many others. She may be coming back in future episodes. Her character moved to run a cardiac surgical department at a hospital in Switzerland.
12. Dr. Izzie Stevens – Grey’s Anatomy
Next up, we have the lovely Dr. Izzie Stevens, played by Katherine Heigl. She started off in the beginning of the series in the intern class with Meredith and Christina. She was disrespected a bit in season one for being pretty and blonde. The guys were calling her “Dr. Barbie.” Dr. Stephens later got cancer in the fifth season of the show, and almost died. She ended up being written off of the show in season six. Her character tried to be a doctor again after she got better, but she didn’t do as well.
11. Nurse Nora Sergeant – Being Human (U.S. Version)
Next, we have Dr. Nora Sergeant from the US version of Being Human played by Kristen Hager. Being Human is a series that follows three roommates: a vampire, a werewolf, and a ghost. She is a nurse at the hospital where Josh and Aidan (the werewolf and the vampire) work. She shows up in episode four of the first season. She ends up getting pregnant by Josh and carrying a full-bred werewolf baby. Since he is concerned about the baby being a werewolf, he vows to be in the baby’s life. The only abnormal thing is the fact that the baby is growing faster than normal.
10. Nurse Carol Hathaway – ER
ER was one of the most famous and longest running TV medical dramas. It ran from 1994 to 2009. So, here is Nurse Carol Hathaway played by Juliana Margulies. She went on to star in the political drama, The Good Wife. Before her debut on ER, nurses were portrayed as perfect, sweet women who simply waited on doctors. Her character definitely helped change the way nurses are portrayed in movies and TV.
9. Dr. Camille Saroyan – Bones
Here we have a medical doctor not working in a hospital. This is Dr. Camille Saroyan, played by Tamara Taylor. She comes in to supervise the crime fighting team in the Jeffersonian museum. The show follows Dr. Temperance Brennan, a forensic anthropologist who solves crimes with an FBI agent, Seeley Booth. Dr. Saroyan is a medical examiner who performs autopsies on the victims that come into the lab. This is usually done before Dr. Brennan strips the flesh so she can see the bones, which are her forte.
8. Dr. Abby Lockhart – ER
Here we have another lady from ER: Dr. Abby Lockhart played by Maura Tierney. She came in on season six of the show as an OB nurse that assists in the birth of Hathaway’s twin girls. She becomes an eager, but not very confident addition to the ER staff. It is Abby that sees Dr. Carter’s addiction and helps get him to rehab at the end of the season. We find out Abby is a reformed alcoholic when she runs into Dr. Carter at an AA meeting. She starts up a relationship with Dr. Luka Kovac, played by Goran Visnjic.
7. Major Margaret Houlihan – MASH
MASH (Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) was a show that ran from 1972 – 1983 with over 250 episodes. It follows a group of doctors and nurses running an army hospital during the Vietnam War. Next in our countdown is the famous Major Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan, played by Loretta Swift. Houlihan was a career army nurse whose father was a retired colonel. She enlisted after graduating college, and quickly rose to the rank of Major. Some people think she only got it because of the guys she had been with.
6. Christina Hawthorne – Hawthorne
Here we have a major character from a short-lived show. Jada Pinkett-Smith plays the chief nursing officer, Christina Hawthorne, at a hospital in Richmond, Virginia. She is a single mother to a teenager daughter (played by Hannah Hodson) who dedicates her life to saving people. There was also a love interest in the form of Dr. Tom Wakefield, played by Michael Vartan. The show ran on TNT from 2009-2011. It was not that great of a show; it probably wouldn’t have made it if Jada Pinkett-Smith wasn’t in it. It was just one of those cookie cutter medical dramas; the only thing different is that the main character was a nurse instead of a doctor.
5. Dr. Sara Tancredi – Prison Break
Dr. Sara Tancredi, played by Sarah Wayne-Callies served as the prison doctor on Prison Break. The show follows Michael Scofield (played by Wentworth Miller) who gets himself convicted of a crime and sent to prison to help his brother, Lincoln Burrows (played by Dominic Purcell), escape the prison. His brother was framed for killing the Vice-President. When they do break out, Sara goes on the run with them and serves as the love interest to Scofield. Then, Scofield gets himself in a hardcore prison in Panama, but he broke out of there, too. The show ran from 2005 – 2009 on the Fox Network.
4. Dr. Juliet Burke – Lost
Lost was a very popular show on Fox. It ran for six seasons from 2004 – 2010. It follows a group of plane crash victims that get stuck on a seemingly deserted tropical island. They must work together to survive. She is among the group known as “the Others.” She is a fertility specialist brought to the island to figure out why pregnant women are getting killed there. When “the Others” meet up with the “Oceanic” group, she becomes critical to their plans. She is not quite as invested in their going ons, as she just wants to get back to her sister.
3. Dana Scully – The X-Files
Here we have the ultimate nerd boy crush source, Agent Dana Scully from the X-Files (played by Gillian Anderson). The X-Files ran from 1993 to 2002, and now it has been revived on Fox. Dana Scully and her partner, Mulder (played by David Duchovny), work together to solve cases with paranormal and extraterrestrial origins. She is the skeptic to Mulder’s believer as they work together to solve cases in “the X-Files.” She uses her medical skills by performing and/or assisting on autopsies whilst solving cases.
2. Dr. Meredith Grey – Grey’s Anatomy
Say hello to the title character of Grey’s Anatomy, played by Ellen Pompeo. The show began with her starting her surgical residency at Seattle Grace hospital. The show follows Meredith and crew as they progress through their residencies and eventually to becoming board certified surgeons in their prospective specialties. From the beginning, Mr. Derek Shepherd had his hooks on her. He leaves his wife and ends up marrying her.
1. Dr. Kelly Lee – General Hospital
General Hospital is a classic cheesy soap opera that has been on since the sixties. For my final character, I present Dr. Kelly Lee (played by Minae Noji). She appeared in over 200 episodes of the show from 2006 – 2015. She works as an OB/GYN at General Hospital, and she got a bigger part in the online series General Hospital: Night Shift. She takes over for Dr. Meadows and is seen as Courtney Matthews’ doctor during her pregnancy. She is a sex addict who sleeps with most of the doctors in the hospital, which leads to a sexual harassment suit against the hospital.
