It goes without saying that Batman is one of the most bad-ass superheroes in the DC universe, despite not having any supernatural or alien abilities. Batman often has to go up against villains with super powers or super strength and, in all those fights, Batman always comes out on top. I might even be a little biased when it comes to Batman because he is one comic book character who shows that human beings are not the inferior race, because he can kick butt just as good as or even better than Superman and all the other Justice League superheroes.
Behind Batman’s mask is a billionaire businessman by the name of Bruce Wayne, whose money plays a critical role in making Batman who he is. We cannot deny that Batman has the mind of a genius and is an excellent fighter when it comes to hand-to-hand combat, but his fighting skills and awesome brain are just not enough to survive even one day doing what he does. Batman without his gadgets is just as good as some of the famous detectives or wrestlers we love to watch on TV – good for entertainment but not useful when it comes to fighting crime “Batman style”.
His gadgets are what make Batman the unstoppable crime-fighting hero he is and they are what set him apart from all other superheroes and villains out there. Batman has access to numerous gadgets at any given time and his quick thinking helps him to pick up the right gadget for any particular situation. Here are some of his coolest gadgets, which of these would you love to own if you were given an opportunity?
10. Utility Belt
Batman’s utility belt is undoubtedly one of the most powerful crime fighting assets at his disposal. Batman’s belt is not just something to hold up his pants, it is a gadget that carries an assortment of weapons, enough to take down any villain. In addition to having a strap and a buckle, Batman’s utility belt has at least ten cartridges or pouches, each with different contents that keep changing with time. Some additional features to the belt include a tape recorder, a small camera and security features that protect it from anyone else other than Batman opening it or accessing any of its contents. What would you do if you had this belt at your disposal?
Whenever Batman needs to find any information to help him bring some criminals to justice, the Bat-computer will always give him enough relevant information about their histories and possible whereabouts. More advanced than almost all other computers in the DC universe, except the Justice League Watchtower’s, the Bat-computer is to Batman what JARVIS is to Iron Man. Located in the Batcave, this powerful supercomputer has a series of satellite link-ups that make it possible for Batman to access nearly every bit of information he wants, hidden anywhere on any network in the world. Imagine how cool it would be to have such power in your hands, since we all know that information is power.
8. Smoke and Gas Pellets
The smoke pellets at Batman’s disposal are the perfect cover for his stealthy disappearing acts. The smoke pellets are basically hardened-gelatin spheroid capsules which, when broken, produce a huge amount of smoke that no one, except Batman who wears high-tech lenses, can see through.
The gas pellets, on the other hand, do not hide Batman’s exits or entries, but they incapacitate any opponents who inhale the gas. When Batman breaks the gas pellets on any surface, anesthesia, lachrymatory, regurgitate, and/or nerve agents fill the air and take down anyone who inhales the gasses. Batman wears a gas filter over his nose to protect himself from these gases whenever he uses the gas pellets.
7. Kryptonite Ring
Despite the fact that Batman is just a human being with human limitations, claiming that he is inferior to any godlike superhero or villain would be a very ignorant statement. Batman has the technology and the ability to destroy all Justice League superheroes in a day, making him very dangerous. The Kryptonite ring at his disposal is exactly what he needs to beat a Kryptonian, meaning that even his closest ally, Superman, has someone to bring him down in case he goes rogue or if he is under an evil influence that he cannot control. Batman got the ring from Lex Luthor, who had made the ring to keep Superman away from him.
6. Glider Wings
Batman does not have the power of flight, but that does not mean that he cannot use his intelligence to achieve flight. Batman’s Batglider or glider wings use the same principles as a hang-glider, giving him the ability to control his movements during flight and to stay in the air for an extended period of time. During flight, Batman looks like a giant bat – an image that strikes fear in the bad guys but brings hope to the people in trouble. In some instances, Batman’s cape can turn into the glider when an electric current passes through it, making it easy for him to glide without the need for additional equipment.
Unlike other superheroes who can fly or move with super speed, human superheroes like Batman need a super fast bulletproof sleek ride to get to where the action is in style. The Batmobile is unique and looks like a combination of a plane, a tank and a car. The Batmobile is a wonderful sight to look at and it seems to be very comfortable, but Batman does not drive it because of how fashionable it is. Batman uses the Batmobile because it helps him to get anywhere in super quick time. The car has various weapons built into it, Batman can access the technology available in his Bat-computer from his car, and he cannot get shot while in his car owing to its tough and bullet proof shell… among other advantages.
4. Remote-Controlled Batarang
The Batarang is one of Batman’s signature gadgets that he has perfected over the years, making it an integral part of his crime fighting methods and a tool to help him gain an advantage over any of his foes. Batman carries his Batarangs – all of which are collapsible in order to occupy the least possible space – on his utility belt and uses different Batarangs for different purposes. Some of the most common Batarangs he uses include the explosive, the electric and the remote-controlled ones. Remote-controlled Batarangs are probably the best and most advanced, owing to the fact that Batman can control them manually to hit a particular target – and they come with cameras.
Depending on the comic book or movie you are reading or watching, Batman’s aircraft can either be referred to as the Batplane, the Batwing or simply the Bat, but there is never mistaking the fact that Batman sure has an amazing aircraft. The Batplane has changed a lot over the years, with the latest one in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice possibly being the best and most technologically advanced of all his planes. Being an extremely dangerous and lightweight aircraft, the Batplane can traverse underwater, deploy missiles, respond to Alfred’s commands remotely from the Batcave and perform other great tricks owing to its amazing and unique features.
2. High Pitched Sonar Bat Call
Everyone needs a hero, which is why the people of Gotham City call on Batman to save them every time the Joker, Two-Face, the Penguin or any other villain reigns terror on them. However, have you ever asked yourself what happens when our superheroes need saving? When it comes to Batman, he calls on Bats to save him, and these creatures will always come to his rescue whenever he needs them. His ultrasonic bat beacon emits high pitched sonar waves that bring bats to Batman’s location in their thousands. The bats can either create a diversion to enable Batman to escape or they can attack a villain who is proving to be hard to defeat.
1. Power Armour
The lightweight cloth making up Batman’s costume is usually ideal when Batman is fighting human villains or other super villains whose strength does not compare to that of the gods. However, when Batman is fighting against extremely powerful opponents such as Superman, he needs his power armour to protect him from the deadly force of just one of Superman’s punches. As we saw in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, Batman’s power armour protects him from impacts that would otherwise kill him in an instant. While wearing this suit, Batman is almost indestructible, and this makes him a superhero that one would be truly crazy to go up against.
