Cosplayers are fascinating people. Many of them are average Joes and Janes like the rest of us, but at night, when they’re alone, they spend hours and hours on end crafting a totally different identity for themselves. At the end of their hard labour, they reveal their work to the world. For one glorious day, the Joes becomes Superman, and the Janes become Wonder Woman. They escape the confines of their social identity, if only for a day. And we hop along for the ride with them.
The best part: the Janes are usually insanely hot.
There’s a lot to be said about seeing our childhood heroes incarnate themselves as 9s and 9.5s. Thanks to the meteoric rise in the cosplay subculture since the 90s we are able to see an increasing number of drop-dead gorgeous girls dress up in increasingly creative, increasingly sexy outfits.

The mysterious Riddle was born Riki LeCotey, in Canada. She is now based in the United States, where she has grown her impressive career. Aside from her dynamic cosplay, she is a costume designer and model.
Riddle has an impressive resume. Throughout her decade-long cosplay career she has been an honoured guest and judge at several cosplay events around the world, including Ireland, Chile, Dubai, and the UK. Television networks Syfy and PBA have featured her in their cosplay documentaries. If all that weren’t enough, she runs her own charity group, Cosplay for a Cause. Through her organization, she raised over $30,000 for victims of the 2011 Japanese tsunami.
9. Yaya Han
Yaya Han is a cosplayer, model, and costume designer who works out of Atlanta, GA. She is a veteran of the cosplay industry, having been in it since 1999. Back then, with no experience in designing costumes and armed with nothing but a curiosity and passion for the craft, Yaya used her 40 dollar sewing machine to kick off what would eventually become a thriving career. She runs a popular cosplay accessory line that regularly puts out award winning designs. To date, she has made nearly 300 costumes, most of them pertaining to comic books, manga/anime, video games, and sci-fi.
8. Lisa Lou Who
Lisa Lou Who, from Minnesota, is a professional seamstress who crafts her own props, armour, and costumes. She has cosplayed as a sexy Harley Quinn, a sexy Cammy, a sexy Misty, and a sexy many more. Lisa is a renowned cosplay guest and judge, having participated in such events as Wizard World Minneapolis 2015, Final Fantasy Fan Festival Las Vegas, and Expocomic San Luis Potosi, Mexico 2014. She enjoys food, especially cake.
HezaChan was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and currently resides in San Francisco, California. She is a cosplay veteran in her own right, having attended dozens of conventions since 2001. Aside from making countless men’s jaws drop, HezaChan enjoys burying herself under a mountain of anime. She also likes cats, Korean food, and Pucca. And we like whatever she likes, as long as it means we can look at her a little longer.
6. LeeAnna Vamp
LeeAnna Vamp, who may or may not be an actual vampire, grew up loving the classics from fantasy, sci-fi, and horror genres. Much of her cosplay tends to fall under the horror genre, which spooky costumes like Freddy Kruger and Darth Maul. She’s also played other classic characters like Chewbacca and Mario. She refers to those she sees at conventions as “her people,” and the convention itself as “her home away from home.”
JayCee is based in Connecticut and has been cosplaying since 2011. She mainly cosplays Pokemon and comic book superheroes. Googling her in her Pikachu and Captain America costumes would certainly do your eyes no harm. She can be spotted at various conventions, most recently at New York Comic Con, where she cosplayed as Rogue, Magneto, two versions of Captain America, and more. JayCee runs her own online merchandise store where she sells various cosplay items she crafted herself.
4. Sofia Sivan
Rather than sticking to tried-and-true costumes like Wonder Woman or Tomb Raider, Sivan tends to go the more obscure route, putting together strangely sexy outfits such as coked-out Pam from the T.V. series Archer. She is also known to create her own costumes by mashing certain characters together, depending on what stories inspire her at the time. One example of this was at New York Comic Con 2013, where her costume was a mash-up of Power Girl and Jaime Lannister from Game of Thrones.
3. Lyz Brickley
Lyz Brickley grew up in a small town in the mountains, where there wasn’t much to do. To fill in her time, Lyz made wizard/rogue/warrior costumes for her and her brother to play outside in. This was when she was only 10 years old. She discovered that her hobby was part of a larger subculture in 2009, and from then on she was hooked. Brickley is a perfectionist when it comes to costume-making, putting in hours on end to make sure every angle is perfect. Her portrayal of Garrett from the Thief games is a perfect showcase of her craftsmanship.
2. Jessica Nigri
Jessica Nigri was born in Reno, Nevada, and was raised in New Zealand. In 2009, Jessica Nigri’s sexy Pikachu cosplay went viral, and the rest is history. She is one of the most popular cosplayers out there today. Aside from cosplaying and modelling, Nigri is a Youtuber, a fan convention interview correspondent, and a voice actress. Nigri is so influential in the cosplay subculture that she has served as an official spokesperson for several video games, including Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Gears of War 3.
NadiaSonika, born Nadya Anton, lives in Juarez, Mexico. She has 6 years of cosplay experience, over which time she has crafted over 80 costumes and has attended events all around the world. She has all of this tucked humbly away in her portfolio as she powers through the last years of her college degree in Mexico. Nadia’s stated goal is to promote cosplay as both a fun hobby and a serious art form. She has cosplayed as Superman, Sonya, Catwoman, and Mystique.
