When most people think of absolutely gorgeous singing sensations, they look to the pop world, filled with stars like Rihanna, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift, and, in an earlier generation, a young Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. While pop stars’ insane choreography and often sparkly, skimpy costumes are definitely sexy, there’s an often overlooked group of hotties on the stage – we’re talking about the country ladies. Sure, country guys look great with a guitar and a cowboy hat, but come on – it’s really all about the ladies.
While they can definitely dress up for a big show, and can slay the red carpet in their couture gowns, country ladies are definitely fine with dressing a little more casually every now and then. While they too have stage outfits, there’s a lot more denim than a pop star would see – tiny denim shorts included. I mean, Jessie James even wrote a song about how great the perfect pair of skin tight denim can be. When she’s on stage, a country girl might trade in the high heels for cowboy boots, but hey – that just means they’re ready to go straight to the local dive bar after a show and have a brew or two.
These country ladies are strong, they’re sassy, they make great music and they look damn good doing it. Here are 10 of the hottest country stars.
10. Shania Twain
Shania Twain has been tearing up the charts since the 1980s, and the fact that fans were flocking to buy tickets to her recent world tour after so many years proves that she’s definitely made a big impact on the country music industry. The Canadian cutie may be 50 now, but she still looks as good as when she started out. No woman who likes country can forget her sassy, girl power hits like “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and “Man! I Feel Like A Woman.” She’s gone from ultra country to country-pop to a little bit rock and roll, churning out hit after hit, and pretty much not aging over the past 30 years.
9. Kacey Musgraves
Texas girl Kacey Musgraves is a rising star in the country world, and she definitely hustled to get to where she is today. She self-released three albums before snagging a spot on the singing competition Nashville Star (the show that featured a young Miranda Lambert in its first season) and eventually snagging a record deal. She’s since released two albums, including the popular Same Trailer Different Park. She’s a down to earth Texas girl through and through, and while she writes phenomenal lyrics and definitely has killer stage presence, it definitely doesn’t hurt that she is super easy on the eyes.
8. Hillary Scott
Not sure who Hillary Scott is? Well, you may know her better as the female vocalist for the popular band Lady Antebellum. Scott actually comes from a family of musicians, so it’s basically in her blood to be on the stage. She met up with her Lady Antebellum bandmates when she was trying to get a solo career going, and the trio eventually figured out they’d have more success as a group than separately. Scott may be a bit curvier than some other country stars, but trust us – as pop star Meghan Trainor would say, they’re curves in all the right places.
7. Jessie James
Jessie James – or, Jessie James Decker, as she’s been going by since marrying NFL player Eric Decker – has known she wanted to be a musician since she was belting out tunes at an early age. In her teenager years, the country hopeful started making trips to Nashville, and eventually (after getting turned down by countless labels) got someone’s attention. She struggled with trying to be molded into a pop artist for awhile before putting down her foot and letting her country roots shine. Now, she has a string of hits such as “My Cowboy,” “Blue Jeans” and “Boys In The Summer,” that are all about being a strong, sassy, sexy woman.
6. Jennifer Nettles
Jennifer Nettles is best known for her work in her latest band, Sugarland. However, her powerhouse vocals aren’t limited to just country – she was a duet partner with rock star Bon Jovi on his Billboard Number One hit “Who Says You Can’t Go Home.” Nettles has several Country Music Awards and Grammy Awards under her belt, and her skill in the music industry means she’s probably not going away anytime soon. Her fans are definitely grateful – one might say, in the words of a Sugarland song, that they’re stuck on Nettles, from her signature blonde waves to her amazing stage presence.
5. Kimberly Perry
One of the most beloved bands in country right now, The Band Perry, is comprised of a sibling trio – Reid Perry, Neil Perry, and the only woman, Kimberly Perry. While her brothers are talented musicians, there’s no doubting who got the looks in the family – it’s the blonde bombshell. Their debut album with the hit “If I Die Young” catapulted the group to country superstardom, and their follow-up, Pioneer, gave audiences hits like “Done,” “Better Dig Two,” and “Chainsaw.” We love The Band Perry, but if the brothers ever decide to take a step back from the music industry, we have no doubt that Kimberly could absolutely slay it solo and become the next sexy blonde in the country world.
4. Rachel Reinert
If the name Rachel Reinert doesn’t ring a bell, perhaps the name Gloriana will? Reinert is the sexy auburn-haired vocalist for the country band Gloriana, who have been making music together since 2008. This country cutie apparently met Tom and Mike Gossin, the other members of Gloriana, via MySpace back in the day – they started writing music together, and the rest is history. Reinert may not be as big a name as some country stars like Carrie Underwood, but trust us – she’s a country singer you definitely want to know about. She’s apparently BFFs with fellow country cutie Kellie Pickler, so who knows – perhaps a killer duet a la Carrie and Miranda is in her future.
3. Miranda Lambert
Everyone knows Miranda Lambert, and everyone was left asking the same question when she decided to split with then husband Blake Shelton – who on earth would give up a woman like Miranda Lambert? She’s funny, she’s tough as nails, she’s drop dead gorgeous, and she knows how to rock a stage like no other. Lambert got her start on the first season of reality talent show Nashville Star, where she was signed to Epic Records and immediately began churning out hits like “Kerosene” and “Bring Me Down.” She’s remained a big name in the country world year after year, thanks to her killer songs, and now that she’s a single lady again we can’t wait to see what she comes up with.
2. Jana Kramer
Michigan-born mega babe Jana Kramer actually got her start in acting, unlike the majority of country stars who had their eyes set on the musical stage from an early age. She had recurring roles on popular shows like One Tree Hill and Friday Night Lights before releasing her first single, “Why Ya Wanna,” in 2012. The rising star, who won an Academy of Country Music award for Top New Female Artist in 2013, recently released her second album, Thirty One. Sure, she may not have as many hit singles as some of country’s female legends yet, but come on – she’s absolutely stunning.
1. Carrie Underwood
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past ten years, you probably know who Carrie Underwood is. The humble girl from Oklahoma caught the public’s attention as the winner of the fourth season of American Idol. However, unlike many previous Idol winners who end up fading into obscurity, Underwood took that attention and ran with it, eventually getting inducted into the Grand Ole Opry and winning seven Grammy Awards, seventeen Billboard Music awards, eleven Academy of Country Music Awards, and more. She’s had a seemingly endless string of hits and her career shows no signs of slowing down – and she seems to just be getting hotter with age.
