It’s been seven years since the eight Italians from New Jersey and New York all came together to live under the same roof. Eight strangers, all crazy about their tans, their hair, their boobs, and their muscles. All of them living in a party town for a crazy season of raves and parties. What could go wrong, right?
EVERYTHING! The group argued about absolutely everything, from Sunday dinners to the kinds of dates they’d bring back to the house. Even when the housemates got along, they would find things to argue about. The reality show became a sensational hit for a reason; these partiers would cause a constant ruckus no matter where they were, trucking around drama and drunken antics everywhere they went.
The show aired from 2009-2012. Seasons one, three, five, and six took place at a house in Seaside Heights on the Jersey Shore, season two took place on North beach in Miami, season four took place in Italy. That means that these Guidos and Guidettes took their ridiculous antics all over the world! Consider how these people made Americans and their MTV viewers look. Some of the most popular quotes were when Deena pointed out that an Italian, “speaks well English.” Or when Mike aptly described Angelina: “she’s the Staten Island ferry: everybody gets a ride and it’s free.” But we can’t forget our favorite season four quote, the reason we’re all embarrassed to travel to Italy- when Snooki said, “I have no idea where Italy is on the map, but I do know what shape it is and it’s like a boot.” Bravo, Snooks. Bravo.
So let’s talk about what these crazy kids have been up to since they left the Jersey Shore! Here are fifteen hotties we’ve missed!
15. Samantha “The Canadian Model”
Samantha met Mike (aka ‘The Situation’) at a club in Miami in season two of Jersey Shore and the two hit it off so well that they tried to have sex in a club bathroom. When that didn’t work out, they ended up having a more extended (and loud) hook up back at the Miami apartment. The two were quite enamored with each other, even if it was a brief stint.
So where did Samantha end up? The specific incident on the show actually upset her family, since MTV had to edit things down to look like events happened in quick succession. Samantha actually went on a couple of dates with Mike and hung out with Vinny and Pauly D on multiple occasions. But because of the short seasons, the episode was edited to look like it all happened in a very short period of time. Since then, Samantha finished getting her degree in media studies and public relations and has continued her moderately successful modeling career.
14. Melissa Sorrentino
Melissa is Mike’s (aka, “the Situation’s”) little sister. Remember her? She’s the one that Vinny talked to on the phone for 45 minutes and developed a huge crush on, then met in person and freaked out a bit when he realized that she looked just like a female version of Mike (yuck). Melissa came around every once in a while to hang with the crew, but it usually just caused odd tension among the guys that couldn’t decide if Mike would be cool or get upset if they hooked up with his sister.
So what happened to Melissa since the cameras moved on from her brother? Well, for starters, she got married! She married her sweetheart, Michael Sussman. Before the wedding, TLC took her on for an episode of Say Yes to the Dress and helped her pick the perfect gown. Mike attended with his then longtime girlfriend and college sweetie Lauren Pesce, and the affair was all over TMZ.
13. John Manfre
Of course you remember The Situation’s best friend, The Unit! Though he was only around briefly, he played a key role in many events, including the season premiere of season five. Just like ‘The Situation,’ he started a fair amount of unnecessary bar fights (but, of course, only with opponents he was certain he could defeat), he was arrested at the Jersey Shore house in possession of some suspicious white, powdery substance (though it wasn’t ever revealed what is actually was, we can all assume what), and he’s been in an on-again/off-again relationship with an adult star. Just like The Situation, The Unit was always the definition of a class act.
So where is he now? Turns out, he had problems hitting Special K – meaning ketamine (also known on the streets as horse tranquilizer). He got in a little bit of trouble with the law, but has gotten clean since. He has his own website, which looks pretty legit and well maintained, but has very few followers and subscribers. He talks a big talk, but he bet on the wrong horse in the Jersey shore gang!
12. Caitlin Ryder
Ryder has made appearances in almost every season of Jersey Shore, or has at least been mentioned in them. She’s one of Snooki’s best friends and loves to party with the crew. She’s a totally gorgeous chick and, though she certainly is no Guidette and not the type to ever be on the Jersey Shore main cast, she is definitely the partying and gossiping type that fits in with the crew.
So what has Caitlin Ryder been up to since she’s stopped visiting Snooki at the Shore? She works menial retail jobs on the side while she’s finishing up her college education at State University of New York New Paltz. She’s fallen in love with tattoos, and is totally smitten with the idea of covering herself in ink head to toe. She stars on an indie web series, Singleling and tries to keep up with her sister’s (Erin Ryder) acting career.
11. Tom Lippolis (JWoww’s First Boyfriend)
Jennifer Farley dated Tom Lippolis for a long time, since before the show even began airing. He came to visit her in Miami during the second season of Jersey Shore with a lot of dramatic repercussions: he believed that she might have cheated on him, and after some loud arguments and tickle fights, the two licked their wounds and said tearful farewells. They lived together until JWoww parted to return to Seaside for season three, at which point she was quite fed up with Tom. The big event that led this couple down the slippery slope to breaking up was when JWoww forgot their anniversary.
So what has Tommy Boy been up to since the split with JWoww? He’s got to be regretting not making things work with Jenni, that much is sure. While she’s rolling in dough, he’s trying to make his side games work. Things have never been as great as when he had JWoww.
10. Paula Pickard (Mike’s Buddy With Benefits)
Paula Pickard first appeared briefly on season one (for one drunken stumble) and then for a longer stint on season three of Jersey Shore, when the crew made their return to Seaside and Angelina finally gave up on the show, giving Meatball (aka Deena) her chance to break into the cast. She came back a few times in seasons to come, leaving quite the impression on Mike and making quite the situation of herself, and was hopeful about making herself permanent arm candy.
So what has Paula Katharine Pickard made of herself? Prepare to be disappointed. The New Jersey model (or, more aptly named, model-wannabe) lies in her modeling profile about her age, has goals of singing professionally though she has no professional training or experience, and has plenty of high hopes for someone who doesn’t want to do any work. She’s still totally adorable, but it’s not likely she’s going to find a sugar daddy in a Jersey shore club.
9. Angelina Pivarnick
Angelina wasn’t given many chances with the Jersey Shore crew. She was a member of the original house crew and didn’t stay longer than a few episodes because the boss fired her for neglecting to come to work; she was invited to return for the second season and lasted a bit longer, though also left early that season because of all the drama and discord she caused in the house. It seemed that no one in the house or at MTV cared to give her a third chance, as she wasn’t invited to return until the reunion at the end of the series.
After the Shore, she’s been living off her short lived fame in weird and silly ways. She starred on VH1’s show Couple’s Therapy with her boyfriend in 2012, released a single titled, “I’m Hot” (which was really not), then tweeted against LGBT issues and, when JWoww tore her apart, reversed her position and has since been trying to make amends with the community and with her fans. She now works for a service that pays her to deliver personalized celebrity video messages.
8. Deena Cortese
Deena coming to the Shore surprised us all. She auditioned for season one and was rejected but after seasons one and two, when Angelina terrorized the house and everyone living in it, MTV offered Nicole (aka Snooki) the secretive opportunity of bringing her own friend to the house from New York and she chose to bring her long time friend and self proclaimed “clone,” Deena. Deena was a hit with pretty much everyone in the house but Sammi when she arrived, and the drama that snowballed after her arrival ended in one of Sammi’s worst seasons on Jersey Shore.
So what has Deena been up to since leaving the shore? Not a whole lot. She’s been arrested once for disorderly conduct, which is not surprising. She loves lounging and Netflixing (she’s a huge fan of Orange is the New Black) and pretends to keep her website and blog up to date, though it’s constantly in a state of maintenance and disrepair.
7. Mike Sorrentino
Mike Sorrentino or, if you must, “The Situation,” was always a lot to handle in the house, and usually not in a good way. Though he was shockingly great at womanizing and was surprisingly good with the ladies, he would start drama in the group for no reason. Usually he would incite arguments and altercations at heated times when he knew housemates might get aggressive or violent by lining up the dominoes, then watching them fall. Just look at that snide little grin! He was trouble from the start!
So where did this trouble maker end up? He lost himself for a little while when he developed an addiction to prescription drugs, for which he went to rehab for a month in 2012. He got into more trouble when he got caught committing fraud, trying to evade paying $8.9 million. Needless to say, he’s gotten himself into some pretty serious situations.
6. Vinny Guadagnino
Vinny was always such a sweetheart! Rarely a source of drama on the show, Vinny usually went to the group house with the goal of finding a quality lady to spend time with. His most memorable chick, though fans argue over whether or not she was deserving of his attention, was Ramona, the Romanian dancer from Miami that often stood him up and made him wait for her. Vinny was a good and sweet guy at the house, and was always Snooki’s favorite cuddle buddy.
Vinny enjoyed the limelight MTV gave him and has been trying to get back in it ever since. He tried his hand at acting with The Hard Times of RJ Berger, but that hasn’t taken incredibly well. He tried co-authoring a book with Samantha Rose (Control the Crazy: My Plan to Stop Stressing, Avoid Drama, and Maintain Inner Cool), but that also didn’t sell well. His music career also didn’t do well, since his rap lyrics didn’t take well in anti-violence and anti-rape communities.
5. Ronnie Ortiz-Magro
Ronnie was often involved in a lot of drama on Jersey Shore. You could tell the moment he walked into the house, totally built and juiced, that he was ready to party and potentially a recipe for disaster. His relationship with Sammi seemed to be set from the start on a course towards destruction, and there were very few moments on the show that he was watched outside of the drama surrounding the relationship.
So what has this muscle-head been up to since the end of Jersey Shore? Not a whole lot. Jersey Shore aired its last season in 2012, when cast members were each being paid approximately $30,000 per episode that was aired. He continued dating Sammi “Sweetheart” after the show ended until August of 2014, when they broke up after five years of emotionally abusive and sometimes even physically abusive dating. Recently, this past March, the two were seen together again. Rumors of them dating again were confirmed when the two were caught vacationing in Florence.
4. Paul DelVecchio
DJ Pauly D usually played a good part in the drama around the house, but he was rarely at the center of the arguments. Rather, he was often a good friend breaking up fights when they got too physical, or sitting on the sidelines when his buddies needed to hash things out verbally. Sure, he was certainly a womanizer and made his way through a bunch of women- but don’t hate the player, hate the game. Pauly was a damn good player, and used his time on Jersey Shore to the best of his abilities.
Since the show, Pauly D has continued pursuing his true passions and his dreams: disc jockeying and spinning at clubs! He was the first housemate from the show to get his own spinoff, The Pauly D Project, though it didn’t last too long. He’s got a baby mama in New Jersey, though he’s not very present in the child’s life as he tries to pursue his music career.
3. Samantha Giancola
Sammi “(Not-Such-A-) Sweetheart” Giancola stirred up a good amount of drama at the Jersey Shore. As one of the first arrivals at the house, she was quickly labelled as one of the cutest ladies. Her on-again/off-again, destructive, and sometimes even abusive relationship with Ronnie was the center of a lot of drama at the house, especially in season two at the Miami house. So what is this drama queen cutie up to nowadays?
Outside of Jersey Shore, she demonstrated a lot more mature street smarts and business savvy. She’s got her own original line of fragrances (‘Dangerous,’ ‘Dangerous for Men,’ and ‘Dangerous Desires,’ inspired by Paris Hilton‘s original fragrances). She continued on with her original line of clothing, Sweetheart Styles, which included active wear, dresses, tops, bottoms, clutches, purses, and other various accessories. She’s the co-host of a podcast called Just Sayin and also updates her personal website with her news.
2. Nicole Polizzi
Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi has changed a lot since her first arrival at Seaside. Though she arrived on Jersey Shore a sloppy, slutty, drunken mess, she’s done a lot of growing in the last seven years and she’s practically unrecognizable. We should all be proud of the woman Snooki has become: from clumsy, bumbling Guidette, she has blossomed into an entrepreneurial, confident, strong woman.
Nicole went on to star with JWoww on their own show (Snooki & Jwoww), participate on the seventeenth season of Dancing With the Stars, and even write/commission several books about celebrity lifestyle and her misadventures in dating (such as A Shore Thing, Confessions of a Guidette, and Gorilla Beach). She’s currently producing a TV series with her husband, Nicole & Jionni’s Shore Flip, and she has two children: her son Lorenzo (born in 2012) and her daughter Giovanna (born in 2014). She updates her lifestyle blog regularly.
1. Jenni Farley
Better known to fans of Jersey Shore as JWoww- the straight-talking, bad-ass chick who wasn’t afraid to pick a fight with anyone, whether it was a stranger on the streets of Atlantic City or The Situation himself. She was always a voice of authority in the house, and everyone knew not to cross her too many times.
Since the shore, she married Roger Matthews (whom she met while she was still on the show), starred on her own show with Nicole (Snooki & JWoww), contended in a game show for horrible chefs (in which she did very well), made her indie-film debut in a self-produced film called The Mint, and has had two children: a girl named Meilani (born in 2014) and a boy named Grayson (born in May). She is very vocal on Twitter about LGBT issues and gay rights and has her own blog that she updates frequently. She loves to flaunt her young mommy lifestyle and share her diet and fitness tips on her blog.
