Being a Christian in Hollywood is not the easiest thing in the world to do. Hollywood is considered a liberal bastion where certain ideals and morals are held in low regard. However, when you begin to pay attention, listen, and look around, you begin to see that there are actually quite a few Hollywood actors who are born again Christian.

A born again Christian is someone who, as an adult, takes their faith in Christ seriously. It will involve baptism, dedicating themselves to reading the bible every day, and working on improving their life to not only live more positively, but to also help others. There are certainly a number of movies and TV shows produced every year with wholesome, heartfelt messages in them, and some of those messages fall right in line with the Christian faith, but when an actor comes out and claims to be a Christian, they run the risk of ridicule and having difficulty finding work in a close-knit society.

Here are 20 such Hollywood celebrities who have actually professed their faith in Christ and who continue to live as close to His teachings as possible.

The actor most well-known for portraying interesting characters in movies like Lethal Weapon and Point Break, with his stunted dialogue and rebellious personae, became a born again Christian following serious injuries he suffered during a motorcycle accident in 1998. He has not avoided expressing his faith since that time, even having been quoted as saying, “I am proud to tell Hollywood I am a Christian. For the first time I am now free to be myself.”

Gary Busey has since suffered relapses from drug use, fought cancer, and continues to strive to be the best person he can be, as eccentric as his personality happens to be.

He has also been vocal about his Christian faith through the years, though it wasn’t until the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina when he sold off his signature gold jewelry he always wore, saying, “As a Christian, when I saw other people lose their lives and lose their land and property … I felt that it would be a sin before God for me to continue wearing my gold.”
