A couple of decades from now, we’ll probably get to a point in the United States when we won’t be able to tell the different races apart. All the races are mixing and melding and that’s a very good thing indeed.
Perhaps, one day the human race will get to a place where racism disappears forever because human beings will all be the same color. That might be wishful thinking, but in the meantime, we compiled a list below for you of celebs that you didn’t know were black. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by some of these entries.
15. Meghan Markle
Meghan Markle is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful actresses on television today. She is 33-yrs-old and is originally from Los Angeles. For the last 5 years, she has been starring in the hit television show Suits as the character Rachel Zane. Her love interest in the show is Mike Ross played by the actor, Patrick J. Adams. Meghan is of mixed race. Her mother is African-American and her father is of Dutch and Irish descent.
14. Derek Jeter
In the world of professional sports, it is commonly known that New York is definitely the hardest city to play in. Not only are the fans incredibly demanding, but the media also tends to be absolutely brutal. One NY sports figure that never seemed to catch any flack was the Yankees champion Derek Jeter. He retired last year at the age of 40, and he still gets tons of NYC love wherever he goes. In case you didn’t know, Derek Jeter was born in NJ in 1974 to an Irish mother and an African-American father.
13. Nicole Richie
In many ways Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton were the first Californian rich girls to make a huge splash in reality TV, long before the Kardashian clan ever hit it big. These days, she is grown up and married with two kids. She is a shrewd businesswoman and recently returned to TV with her new show Candidly Nicole that debuted on VH1 last year. Nicole Richie comes from a multiracial heritage, but when asked, she often says that she is “just black.”

The 43-yr-old Wentworth Miller first rose to prominence about ten years ago with his breakout role in the FOX prison drama, Prison Break. He also developed a very loyal legion of female fans because of his striking good looks. He broke a lot of hearts with his female following though when he came out the closet as being gay in 2013. Wentworth was born in the UK to American parents – a Caucasian mother and a black father.
The talented guitarist Slash is often considered by music aficionados to be one of the top rock guitarists in the world. He was a huge part of the success of rock band, Guns N’ Roses, and he went on to play in other outfits like Slash’s Snakepit and Velvet Revolver. Judging by his parents, it’s no surprise that he became a musician. His mother was an African-American costume designer and his Dad did album cover art for musicians like Neil Young and Joni Mitchell.
10. Maya Rudolph
When it comes to doing funny female impersonations and voices, it would be hard to find someone more talented or funny than Maya Rudolph. In her many years on SNL, her impersonations of Donatella Versace, Beyonce and Oprah were just laugh-out-loud funny. Maya is a proud woman of mixed race. Her mother was the highly respected Jazz and soul singer of the ’70s, Minnie Riperton.

Cash Warren may just be one of the luckiest men on the face of the earth right now. Not only is his wife Jessica Alba extremely beautiful, but she is amazingly loaded too. Alba’s Honest Company brand was just evaluated to be worth a billion dollars and her net worth is reported to be a cool $200 million. Her husband Cash is half black. His father is Michael Warren, an actor who was quite famous for his role on the ’80s police TV show, Hill Street Blues.

The 48-yr-old media personality Soledad O’Brien is definitely a force to be reckoned with. She is popular for being a no-nonsense anchor on CNN, and now she is the chairman of her own media company called Starfish Media Group. Soledad has been very vocal about race affairs in her coverage of the news. This is probably because of her unique genetic mix. Unknown by many of her viewers, her mother is Afro-Cuban and her father is Australian.
7. Blake Griffin
In recent years, one of the NBA stars to really explode on the scene is the 26-yr-old Blake Griffin who plays for the Los Angeles Clippers. He played his college ball for the Oklahoma Sooners for two years before entering the professional league. People often wonder about Blake’s race because of his unique features. Well, for those inquiring minds, his dad happens to be Haitian, and his mother is a red-headed Caucasian.

One of the smarter comedic actresses and writers today is the lovely Rashida Jones. You have seen her play cute and funny roles in shows like The Office and Parks and Recreation. She is also a gifted screenwriter and one of the recent movies she wrote, Celeste and Jesse Forever, received impressive critical acclaim. Rashida happens to be half-black. Daniel is originally from Chicago, Illinois and he has a mixed African-American, Irish and German ancestry.

Depending on whom you ask, you might get a wide variety of responses when you mention the band Fall Out Boy. There’s no denying that the band, led by Pete Wentz, has enjoyed a lot of mainstream MTV success. However, there are also a lot of F.O.B. haters out there who totally dislike the band. Pete Wentz is originally from Illinois and his mother happens to be of Afro-Jamaican descent. His grandfather on his mother’s side is 100% black and he actually served as the United States ambassador to Sierra Leone.

The model Adriana Lima is one of those gorgeous Brazil beauties. At the age of 34, she’s still one of the top models in the world. She is a Victoria’s Secret Angel and her heritage is quite diverse. It includes: Japanese, Swiss, Native American and African. No wonder she’s so stunning!

The Rock also has a really unique ethnic background. He is half black and half Samoan.
